Dr. Shaw and Dr. Pate are two of the finest veterinarians I have ever entrusted with the care of my pets. They truly love animals and will ensure that yours receive the highest level of care. When my cat was diagnosed with diabetes only days before moving out of state, Dr. Shaw worked with me throughout the weekend to develop a treatment plan, educate me on how to administer treatments, and provided information for long term care. The veterinary nurses and front end staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I truly trust this business. Love this place!  Dr. Jamie is awesome, staff is friendly, helpful and caring!  My dog swallowed an almost whole spam musubi and I called the office.  She calmed me down, gave me options to treat dog at home with hydrogen peroxide and watch or can bring into office for them to do it.  Giving him the peroxide mixture worked, out came the musubi, wrapper and all.  And we didn't have to spend a dime, thanks Dr. Jamie & staff! This clinic saved my cats life.  My friend referred me to Millilani mauka vet after having a horrible experience at VCA pet hospital in pearl city.  VCA basically robbed me and gave no results of what to do or medication to take home.  Don't waste your time.  I went to mililani mauka vet and Dr.  Shaw took such good care of my cat,  the team is super knowledgeable,  they worked her in and and sent her home with medication same day.  I was so relieved and still grateful to this day.   They are amazing will love your pet like their own. I have never had a bad time with this clinic. They are fast and friendly when it comes to scheduling the appointment all the way to the visit. They are a bit expensive but I guess that is Hawaii for ya. Doctors are always very knowledgeable and quick to diagnose the problem. Read Less

First off, this is not the veterinary office we usually take our dogs to, but we were pet sitting a friend's dog for a few days and noticed it had tapeworms.  I called my friend and he told me to take the dog to this clinic as it is the one they always go to. We called to set up an appointment, which wasn't easy because this was a Saturday and the hours are shorter than during the week.  The staff was very friendly and helpful.  Because we had brought a stool sample in for testing, they took it from us, analyzed it and determined that it was tapeworms.  They gave us the medication and we were back out the door in a very short time, probably less than half an hour.  We amazed that they would do this because there were 3 other people ahead of us with appointments.  Now I know when I have to go there, the service is outstanding. Dr. Shaw is awesome! She takes a personal interest in our animals as part of our family. She has a soft and caring touch with her patients. Our (2) Labrador Retrievers, and our (2) cats love her! I have had animals before that would freak out when you took them to the vet for a check up. My dogs and cats don't want to leave the office when they go to see Dr. Shaw. We take our cats here and we always have had a wonderful experience. The vet itself is new and clean. The staff is amazing. Always friendly and helpful. Recently, we had to take one of our cats here cause she was incredibly sick. The vet listened to us, answered our questions, made suggestions and explained everything they were going to do and why. They never pushed us for procedures and we never felt like they were just trying to take our money. Also, they allowed us and even encouraged us to come visit our sick fur baby when she had to stay there for several nights. I highly recommend this vet!Read Less

I have been meaning to review. We are no longer on island but they are awesome!! They treated us like family and they were so good to my fur babies. All the Vets and the techs are so friendly . When it was my kitty Bella's time to cross the rainbow bridge they were amazing . They allowed me to spend as much time with her in a room privately to say my goodbyes . After his blood sample and check up she look at his skin and suggested a shampoo for his skin irritation that he was having.. Definitely took her time in what I was concerned about and answered all my questions. Very friendly staff and helpful.. We've gone to the Mililani Mauka twice now, and both experiences have been wonderful, (even though the reasons for the visits weren't so great). We saw Dr. Shaw the first time, and I was blown away by her friendliness and bedside manner. I was taking my animals to Waipahu Waikele Hospital but came to Mililani Mauka bc this initial visit was paid for by Joey's Feline Friends. We'd just adopted our cat not 4 days earlier, and half way through his checkup discovered he tested positive for FIV. Dr. Shaw shared her knowledge and honesty with us, and offered us several different options on how to move forward. Long story short, we opted to bloodworm that is sent to the mainland that gives a more accurate reading on the FIV test, though a bit $$$, it came back negative and we of course, were overjoyed. Several weeks later, our little kitty began acting lethargic. We went in a saw Dr. Cenal, and once again, I was blown away by his friendliness, knowledge, and bedside manner. He took his time answering all of my questions & even offered to let me listen to my cats heart with his stethoscope to identify a possible heart murmur. I am just simply amazed and grateful at how professional, kind, patient, and above and beyond the staff are at Mililani Mauka! Thank you all and we will be back :)Read Less

Today was one of the roughest days of my life. We've been coming to Mililani Mauka Vet Clinic for our fur babies for the last few years. Dr. Jaime Furutani and her entire staff are nothing short of fabulous. Dr. Furutani's schedule was unfortunately full and could not see our Hunter today. She had been his doctor in the past. When we brought him in we were almost certain we would not be able to take him back home with us. Dr. Pate and Jenn the Vet Tech were both so caring, knowledgable and loving to my family and Hunter. Dr. Pate had confirmed what we felt in our hearts and knew we were struggling with letting Hunter go. She gave us all reasonable options and in the end helped Hunter leave this world as happy and peacefully as possible. I will forever be thankful to ALL the Doctors and staff at Mililani Mauka Vet Clinic. We've had good Vets for our pets in years past, but none can even come close to Drs. Furutani and Pate. Dr Furutani was my pets' vet. She took excellent care of my special needs cat and growing puppy. She stayed on top of advances in veterinary medicine and was a joy to work with. She is also the vet of choice for my parents after their GSD suffered bloat on a holiday. She went above and beyond in their dog's care. Truly, she cares for her patients. Petowners in the Mililani area, I don't usually do reviews, but by far I had the worst experience at Mililani Mauka Vet Clinic. We were 6 minutes late for our appt (front desk lady said 10, big whopping difference) and they made us wait 1 1/2 hours to be seen. But that's only after throwing a big fit about waiting so long for being 6 MINUTES LATE! The front desk lady gave us the run-arounds said she gave the 8:40 patient our 8:20 am appt. and in turn we will take the 8:40 appt. We understood and waited patiently. Next thing you know patients after us are being seen before us and by then it is 10am. And then front desk lady has the nerve to tell us that they scheduled us with the wrong doctor. Really?! I set this appt over a week ago and now you're only telling me this. And to top it off, the front desk lady says that Dr. Pate is running behind because of a "shy" dog that was not cooperating and asked if we prefer to come back at 11:45am so we wouldn't have to wait so long. I told her, "no" since we were already there. I requested to talk to a Doctor. Dr. Shah explained their scheduling system and said each patient is allotted 20 minutes and because we came in late they have to honor the other appts first. So I told her we came in 6 minutes late for gods sake, that would've left us 14 minutes into the appt. thus avoiding us having to wait an 1 1/2 hours to be seen and an extremely disgruntled customer. Instead of acknowledging and empathizing she goes on to compare how i'm treated when i'm late to my doctor's appt. (customer service fail), which of course was besides the point. She continues to say that they will eventually FIT us in and won't charge us an Emergency visit. So I said, "why should you charge us an Emergency visit? We made this appt ahead of time and were 6 minutes late!" I asked Dr. Shah why should we stay with them, and to give her customers a reason not to walk over to their new competitor across the parking lot? Low and behold, she didn't even give a damn about losing our business. She basically implied that the front door was open if we wanted to leave! POOR CHOICE OF WORDS! That's when you know a business is only out for your money! And mind you, medical care for dogs ain't cheap (and I have 2) so you know we've invested alot in them in the past years. So disappointing! They act as if WE'VE never waited for THEM in the past because THEY were running behind, could they not extend the same courtesy? Where's the loyalty? Could this matter have been handled differently? Petowners, go to Pet Clinic instead (but that's another review). By the way, Dr. Pate is awesome and so is the rest of the staff (except of course the front desk lady), however this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth! They also tried to make it up by comping 2 Radiographs view (x-ray). I will say though that their location is convenient with lots of parking and they have an exceptionally clean clinic, but that doesn't make up for the treatment we received. Read Less
