I visited for my rat and, though Dr. Soule is not available very often, she is amazing in her knowledge. This place is pricier than some places but so worth it if you can't afford it. Your rats will live longer and maybe live through things that they wouldn't live through going to some other vets. The staff is friendly and very helpful and so so efficient. The staff that works with rats really loves them. She came back after a tooth trim cuddling Sugar under her chin and Sugar loved it. I really like that they don't want you to restrain your pet and prefer to do it themselves. I don't like having to hold my rat still for a tooth trim and it seems dangerous for me to do it yet some that would have me do that. I also like that they take the rat out of the room and that they give her anesthesia. Even though I had already anesthetized her before I brought her, it was wearing off so they gave her more. Why should an animal suffer fear if they don't have to!? Read Less

The staff is wonderful. They care so much about your pets and their health. I switched my vet over to this place because they have a very welcoming environment, they follow up with you and will explain further on any questions you have, they email back immediately, and they are very experienced. Lastly, thank you Suzie for helping me while I am overseas. It's good to know my doggo has pre scheduled dates and that I receive notifications on his check ups. ❤ Read Less

I do not and have never given my dogs heart worm medication...she never asked me if I wanted to treat her for heart worm.. I got charged for medication I thought was to treat her worms as a puppy.. They basically called my golden retriever Fat.. They said " he hasn't missed a meal".. But proceeded to give a ton of treats during his visit.. He doesn't need treat to be calm.. Also they had a zillion treats when I brought my three month old puppy in and told me because she was food oriented that I needed training?? How about don't give my dog treats I'm not ok with???They told me to bring her I and get her fixed at ten months without asking me if I was even considering breeding her??They are presumptuous and really snotty at the front desk... I took both of my dogs to Companion Vet today for check up and vaccine updates. I have one smaller dog who has not had great vet experiences in the past. He usually needs to be muzzled and freaks out when his nails get trimmed. They took him to the back, gave him shots and trimmed his nails with no problems. I haven't seen my dog kiss the vet or even be without his muzzle while inside the vet in over two years and he was very happy here. They treated both of my dogs great and truly cared for their well being.Read Less

My parents have been taking their Pointers to Dr Powell for years so when I needed a Vet for my Rescue dog I had to check her and Companions out. When I adopted my dog he was overweight and very anxious. With the help of Dr Powell and Companions we've gotten his weight and anxiety under control so he can really enjoy life. We also now have the medicines to nip his frequent yeast infections in the bud before they blow up and need expensive medications. The staff are very caring and I love that they take the time to make my boy feel comfortable before doing anything. Read Less

When I moved to Boise in 2004, I had four house rabbits, and found Companions Animal through the House Rabbit Society.  Dr. Soule provided great care for them throughout their lives, and made sure to explain what was going on with each rabbit.  If a test or procedure was recommended, Companions Animal explained why, and would also provide a quote for the estimated cost.  One of my rabbits had to have an inner ear growth removed, and she bounced back, having no issue with anesthesia or surgery.  Another one of my rabbits had to have at-home subcutaneous fluid treatment, and they made sure we understood how to give the fluids before sending us home.  When it would come time to send one of my pets to Rainbow Bridge, there was a consultation room to decide if at that time euthanasia was the best choice - and the staff was very compassionate and professional during those times even as I would arrive or leave their office bawling my eyes out.I now have two cats and still go to Companions Animal.  Making an appointment is easy, and they now have some Saturday hours.  I like that I get an annual pet health report card that I can compare year over year.  At my last visit, one of my cats had lost quite a bit of weight over one year but was still in the healthy range  - rather than insisting I get blood work done on him right then, they let me know his weight loss could be from an overactive thyroid and explained what symptoms to watch out for so that I could decide later if I wanted the blood work.  They also let me schedule my cats' appointments back to back, so I have both cats in the appointment room at the same time, which means less driving for me and slightly less stress for my cats. I trust the veterinarians and staff at Companions Animal to provide care for my pets and to help me make the best decisions for my pets' health.  I recommend them to anyone looking for a veterinarian.
