Lady at the desk was totally alright with taking money from me that I did not owe. They do free first appointments for new customers (and I was not aware of this). The medication for my cat was 45$ and the visit, I was expecting to pay 50$. Person at the desk asked for 45$ and I asked if we were doing 2 separate transactions because my total, to my knowledge, should have been 100$ something. She says "I thought I told you over the phone that the first visit is free." I never remembered her saying this. Then she proceeds to add the charge of 50$ for the visit when she just told me it was free. 😂 The doctor was rude and diagnosed my pet without looking at him. He was pushing and pushing for me to spend $250 on a test for my cat to see if he has a thyroid problem. I had already had my cat tested and so he threw another 200$ test my way for something completely different. They just want your money as with almost every company we will come across it seems. We were extremely disappointed in Northwest Animal Hospital we bid on a package exam.. heartworm test ...1 year supply of heartworm medication .. 3 month flea and tick chewable tablet and 1 free 5 lbs bag of Canine Royal low fat food at a silent auction fund raiser. We won the package it stated no expiration date but when we call to schedule the receptionist asked for expiration date I stated none and she would not honor the certificate which was valued at $200. We sent an email to the office and received no reply. What kind of service can they give when they are not honest about their own certificate which we still have as proof. Read Less

Dr. Weathered has been amazing in care for both of our Boston Terriers. We have seen him here and at Ewing. When we started seeing Dr. Weatherd we had spent thousands and thousands of dollars taking my Boston Terrier to WestVet where she had been referred from another vet who thought her to complicated. There, she had three specialists to treat her and she still had rashes and bowel issues causing her to vomit 2-3 times a day (down from 6-8). I took her to Dr. Weathered on advice from a friend and wish we would have found him sooner. He took the time to listen and analyze the situation and started her on a regimen that has been nothing short of a miracle for her quality of life (and ours!). She still has some exacerbations, but he has taken the time to make contingency plans for this and we can usually treat at home. For the first time in her 8 years of life, she was out of the hospital for an entire year, and doing better than I though was ever possible. The team is lovely, and they actually great her kindly and look forward to seeing us, even though when she is feeling well she is very loud and hyper in public. They take the time to clip her nails every time, which may seem like a little thing but is very appreciated. It also goes to show how Dr. Weathered see the animal as a whole, and not just separate groups of symptoms to be written off and referred out. For the best possible care and at a more affordable price, this is where to go! Read Less

It has been about 2 months since I went in with my puppy so she could get her shots. The staff were super friendly & sweet. They came in & complimented her, petted her a bit. However, I wasn't pleased with the pet doctor & the area I was in. It was dirty, tiny pieces of poop everywhere. I don't even know what it was but it reeked, BAD. I grabbed it to throw it away & left a strong smell on my hands even after I washed my hands there.. I ignored it because I know there's pets that were attended before mine but it didn't look fresh, at all so it most likely was from the tile or edges of the walls. Easy fix, I wasn't mad; maybe they clean their place once a week. Idk. Anyways, I waited for about 10 minutes before Dr. Weathered came in & probably 2 minutes later I was out the door. He didn't care about my dog being uncomfortable, he rushed through it all, including explaining to me everything I needed to do & left. I think the receptionist cared more about my pup & explaining it to me, then he did. I didn't go back. That was my first & last time going. I wish it would have been better because everything was okay until the doctor came in. They're prices are cheap so that's a plus. Read Less

Dr Weatherd (sp?) is a really caring vet who has your animals best interest in mind. They offer the resource of applying for Care Credit if expenses exceed a budget. The facility is clean & comfortable. He has cared for 1 of my dogs at the end of his life & helped me in my adoption of a new companion & get him current on vaccines & re-registering a microchip. Staff is friendly, and prices are competitive. I took in my cat, and they were very good with him. I was recommended to this vet by a friend, who has also had positive experiences with them as well. The reason this is a four star review and not a five star review is simply because they are not the cheapest place in town, but it is hard to beat Humane society's pricing. Read Less

I bored my puppy with them while i was out of town, and when i picked him up he smells pie all over his body i was thinking they probably had my dog in the Kennel 24/7 and my second issue is my dog is having diarrhea for the past 4 days since i picked him up i contacted the hospital they said they were feeding him his food which i provided and the lady told me to bring him for a visit obviously they want money from the visit I'm assuming their kennels is either not that clean or they don't take care of the animals like putting clean and fresh water etc. and thats what got my puppy sick now, don't bother and take your pet their go somewhere else. Dr. Wethered is the only vet who's been able to handle my dog when giving an exam. She has to be muzzled and completely freaks out even when on a strong sedative. She will bite anyone who comes near her when she's this scared. Otis is dead. Just 10 weeks after you did a teeth cleaning and told me that "he is just acting up after watching us pack suitcases, because he thinks we will leave again". That is exactly what you told me when Otis stopped eating, playing, barking, running; no matter what I asked you about his throat, you said "he is just acting up". You gave Otis 2 years worth of shots knowing that he didn't have long to live, that is if you even read the biopsy results of the tumor you removed, and if you removed all the tumor. Thank heavens we found a veterinarian clinic that knew what they were looking at, that showed compassion and caring for Otis, and for us. "It's just an animal. It hasn't been in your care for that long. That's to bad."Things no one wants to hear when trying to get care for a sick pet.Taking your pet in for a check up after seeing some issues come up is something I'd like to think most people would do. I found this place and in a frantic attempt to get things resolved and healed up for my wonderful new family member I arrived and with much curiosity from the cats walking around I found temporary comfort. Until the main Dr arrived. He did not sound sure in his prognosis but tried to assure me it was all okay and it'll clear up. About 150 dollars later I left feeling releaved enough to sleep at night. The next day was worse. The condition had gotten worse and fearing the worst I returned, scared, sad and a little upset. "It's okay. It'll get better, let try a laser treatment for free and that should help." I guess it helped. I left feeling anxious and slightly hopeful that 2 days from then I would receive more help from him. Later that night as I was about to settle in I noticed short of breath and lethargy beyond what I could have expected after 2 visits and hearing, it'll be okay and things are fine. I went to another vet where they took one look and with long faces presented me with facts not just from Google but from real experts and text books. We went over every option we could but the end result was the same. This wouldn't end well. With remorse and tears in my eyes, I made the decision to let her go so there would no more pain.The next day I called and explained what happened. I asked for a partial refund as I didn't find it fair to not pay for the Dr's generally exam. 60 for an exam at this place wasn't what I call fair but that's what I get for being hasty in finding care. I paid 20 elsewhere and got so much more tender care and sympathy then 150 at this location. I was told that a refund would not happen as it is not his fault I made the unfortunate choice to end the misery. I explained I wanted a refund because I felt like he did not possess the experience one expects from a Veterinarian. Instead of sure answers I got vague slight of hands that in turn made me turn my pockets out. I honestly should have taken 5 minutes out to research his business before making this mistake. Perhaps this is what I get. I felt I was entitled to half back and he being the business owner feels that not only am I wrong but that's to bad I feel that way. Well sir, that's to bad you wouldn't speak with me like a mature adult. I hope you forgive me for the long review but I cannot believe the disrespect and the lack of honor of this business owner. *update. This took 30 minutes to write and I didn't want to leave anything out. I think before I post so it's been a day since writing the last piece. I have been told he would call me back 3 different times and he continues to ignore my calls and will not be bothered to hear from me. We have been taking our pets to Northwest Animal Hospital for over 15 years. We have always been completely satisfied with thev technicians, office staff and doctors. However, in the past five years we have seen a constant turnover of veterinarians and technicians. Our lab-mix dog is five years old and we have battled swimmers ear with him on a regular basis. Three weeks ago, I took our dog in and was not happy with any part of the visit, with the exception, of when I left. Neither the technician or the vet made any attempt to interact with Max, before approaching him. When the vet entered, he immediately went to pick Max up using his choker chain and back legs. Max was yelling and barking like he was in pain. Finally after two attempts, I was done. The appointment ended with the doctor writing a prescription for his ears and giving me two tranquilizers to use before his next appointment. One week later, see drugged Max up and my husband took him to the appointment. Once again, the vet and the technician did nothing to interact with Max before approaching him. This appointment ended in giving us three tranquilizers and scheduling a follow up appointment. My husband, my dog and myself were very traumatized and upset over the way the appointments went and that the vet's solution was to Brigham up. It took a and a half for the first dosage of tranquilizers to wear off. At that point, in was no longer going to take dog there. Max has never had to be sedated for a visit to the vet. He will no longer be a patient there. We had a few friends refer their vets and we chose to try out Bench Animal Clinic. From the phone call scheduling his appointment to his visit was great. The entire staff was professional and had some interaction with Max before starting the appointment. Max was seen by them without any sedatives all and he did just fine. We are no longer supporting Northwest Animal Clinic after 15+ years. However, I would highly recommend Bench Animal Clinic to anyone who is looking for a caring place for your pet.Read Less

They staff has been great with our puppy. We even had him boarded with them for a week and he was happy and healthy when we picked him up. So far every cost has been reasonable. I'm sure as you get into the major procedures like dental and other surgeries the costs get higher. I would definitely recommend them to others. Read Less

Thought my dog needed a tooth pulled and infection treated, called this place and they wouldn't even give us the price of services. They did state that it wouldn't make sense for them to disclose their cost. We ended up taking our pet to All Creatures veterinary in new Plymouth ID, just outside of Emmett. They gave us exact costs for all scenarios. They were half the cost literally of all vets contacted in Boise. Northwest Animal might have great staff but these guys will break your bank and could care less. Take the longer drive and get better service and cheaper rates.... Read Less

The staff here is like a second family to our boxer mix, he wags his tail so much his butt wiggles when we bring him in for day boarding. Their facility is really welcoming and will keep your pet super comfy and extra entetained. The vet and staff are very knowledgeable and also community driven. I have also boarded my dogs here on several occasion--I don't worry about them and they come home happy. This place is my go to place for my birds. They handle them very well and the prices are not too high. When one of the flock was recently diagnosed w/cancer, the vet was up front and to the point, which was very comforting. He gave her four weeks and we got her for six and she passed quietly.
