Dr. McKown rushed in and rushed out. I informed him, and the vet tech, that the cat I brought it was found, and we thought it could be ours, but weren't sure (looked like ours, but after missing 2.5 months, was in pretty bad condition). Knowing we were wondering if the cat was even ours, Dr. McKown did nothing to help me figure it out, except for when I asked for specific things (gender, neutered or not, age, microchip) to be checked. Then he told me the cat needed antibiotics (which I agreed with, since the primary reason I took the cat in was because I could tell it had an URI) and charged me more for administering the shot, than the actual medication cost. Five minutes with the Dr. + horrible pt. attention = $135. Definitely will not be going back. Read Less

I highly recommend Pet's First Animal Clinic for all of your veterinarian needs. We have been using Pet's First for at least the last 20 years and we (and our dogs) have been very happy and satisfied with the quality of care and the professionalism of Dr. McKown (the owner) and his associates and staff. It's apparent from every experience that we've had with them that it's not just a job for these people - it's a way of life. The people who work here are not only highly competent in their field, but they are very caring, compassionate, and helpful in everything that they do. I also realize that there are no veterinarian that get perfect reviews from all of their customers all of the time. Sadly, victimhood is on the rise in the 21st Century and in our digital age there are many angry, stressed, and hostile people who are just looking for someone to criticize and blame all of their personal problems on. With that said, I think it's wise to be skeptical of those who post a extremely negative review - especially if the review seems unreasonable and if it appears as though someone is looking for revenge for whatever wrong they believe someone else has caused them. Let's support our local small businesses who are sincerely trying to do the best they can everyday. Let's be kind to one another, but let's not patronize the trolls. #smile Read Less

When we had to put her 'down to sleep;' they handled it all with love for her, and me. Even giving me her collar a week later; I wasn't thinking well at that moment. We have taken our 14+ year old lab mix to Pets First for many years. We've never had anything but wonderful and professional experiences with any of the vets that have treated her. As our beloved dog has aged, Dr. Ecklund has been very honest about medications that she needs or doesn't, so that we don't spend money unnecessarily. They've even suggested other places to obtain her drugs that are less expensive. They spend time on the floor talking to her and loving on her, not just a "hit and run" visit. I referred a co-worker to them who is extremely particular about the handling and care of her toy breed dog and she can't say enough great things about her experience at Pets First either. Wow, do I love these people. And so do my pets. I could not believe that anyone would have written a bad review. So I really needed to do this. I am not a review writer usually, but had to let others know about my experiences. I have been a client since 2006, and have been in their clinic no less than 20 times. I have never witnessed anything but professional behavior and know the high standard Pets First maintains. Many of the staff members have been there for many years. They do not seem to have a big turn over. That in itself says a lot. They have watched one of my dogs grow from a extremely underweight, parasite infested rescue puppy, to the wonderful 106 pound sweetheart she is to day. That was over 4 years ago. She thinks that going to see Uncle Mike (Dr. Michael McKown) and his staff, is Fun Time, and gets so excited when I pull up into the parking lot. Unfortunately she was born with the ability to run like the wind, with no breaks. At about six months old this condition caused her to break a toe in an unusual way. Being the rambunctious pup she was, the break would not heal. We had to visit the clinic every other day and have her foot/leg re-wrapped and inspected. A painful experience for her each time. The possibility of infection and worst case would be amputation of the toe and or bone infection that could move up her leg. It took some time but the bone finally healed correctly with the care we received. With in a week of having her cast permanently removed and having new found freedom to go even faster. She took a corner too fast and hit her back leg so hard against the corner of the house she required seven stitches. How many vets do you know that would offer a discount in this situation? I know, how amazing. I have been to a lot of animal hospitals in my lifetime and have never been treated as well as we are at Pets First. I recently moved 45 miles away from their location, but continue to choose them because of the fabulous care and service that we receive. It is comforting to me knowing that they really do care about the well being of my family members.Read Less

I used to takes my beloved Beagle to this clinic from approximately 1990-2004+/-. I even brought her here as my "doggy motel," when we would leave town. When we had to put her 'down to sleep;' they handled it all with love for her, and me. Even giving me her collar a week later; I wasn't thinking well at that moment. Now, I have our son's dog and my dog and I take them both over here. So far, they have been very good to me, and my furry 'babies'. I have not needed to used the "doggy motel," but I'm sure it's fine. I believe they love the animals they take in.Read Less

There isn't anywhere else I want to take my child then this pet clinic. they treat my baby like their own. They're all so kind. they are very knowledgeable. they are very accommodating in terms of getting things taken care of when you have to work etc... but most importantly they treat my dog as if she were their only child and they love her like I do. It is so important that when I take her there that they treat her well, I am confident that this carries over in the back room when she has to stay for something there isn't a better place you could take your pet for quality care Read Less

My poor kitty got mauled by the neighborhood catzilla and got an infection at the base of his tail. When I was in panic more, trying to find somewhere that would take him in and check him out on the cheap, they called me back almost immediately and I had an appointment for him the same day. I'm so grateful to them, because my cat likes to get into a lot of scrapes. I'll definitely be taking him back here for future checkups.Read Less

I have taken all of my dogs to Pets First for the last 14 years. From puppies to caring for very senior dogs with serious health issues, to having your pet stay for a few days, they are by far the most caring, compassionate office I have ever dealt with. They treat you and your pets like you are their family. When it comes time to make difficult life/death decisions they are there for you and will even make house calls. I can't say enough positive things about Pets First! Read Less

We can't imagine going anywhere else. Read Less
