If I could do it over I would have never brought my cat to be neutered or even seen by these people. My one your old, healthy, sweet, loving cat is DEAD one week after being neutered. He has never had any problems EVER!!! and from the moment I brought my cat home from being neutered, he was different. I assumed he was just recovering from surgery so I didn't think much of him laying around. He seemed very sore and careful to walk and sit. As the days went on he got much worse without me realizing there was an emergency. He just seemed lazy. He did go outside but would find his favorite spot and just lay or sit. He never left the yard and would come inside as he pleased and was also inside most of the time, which is not like him. The day before he died he didn't come in for food but had water. The next morning I tried to get him to eat and he would not and now his breathing was very labored, his eyes had a sick look and I just knew something was wrong. I called the vet that morning and explained to them that he hasn't been himself since being there and that I thought something was very wrong. There was no concern on there end and they just said you can bring him in if you want to. Well I did bring him in and they all looked at me like I was a nuisance (it was about lunch time and they were letting people go on lunch break) and just handed me a paper to fill out and took my cat. Later the doctor called saying that yes my cat was not doing good and that he was dying and didn't have much longer; that he had puss in his lungs from infection and said I should just let them put him down. At this point I was not leaving my cat with them as there was no sympathy!!! No concern at how this could have happened!!! (HOW could my cat go from a strong healthy cat to a dead cat in one week after their care!) I went right over there after the phone call and some lady I had never talked to before approached me and told me it would be best for them to put him down as he was not going to make it (obviously). I asked to see him before I made my decision and there was this attitude about her as she told some guy to go get my cat. She then hollered at me from a side room to come over and see him. I of course started crying and said I just wanted to take him home and she just said okay took my payment, walked over to the door of the clinic, opened it for me and I walked out. I am so disappointed in this entire situation! I paid for a neuter, a drop off visit and have NOTHING! My cat died within 30 minutes of picking him up from the vet, in my arms. I'll miss him forever and I wish this vet had loving care, sympathy and were honorable but I cannot say that about them! Such a sad sad sad thing. RIP Cash Read Less

Just had my first appointment here, after switching from another vet I wasn't fond of. I was a little over 15 mins late to my appointment, having a great dane puppy is a task in its own, especially when they chew up a huge mess right before you're suppose to walk out the door. I called ahead of time to let them know I'd be a little late, they were so understanding. The techs had so much patience with my excited puppy, and the vet as well as her assistant we're so helpful. I felt like i was in a room with people who cared, not at a used car lot like how I felt at the other vets office. No pressure, no trying to get me to buy everything, no belittling. Wanted 40 dollars to do an exam... couldn't get booked before my pet will be better or dead anyways. Unless I wanted to pay more to drop my pet off, at which point she'll be seen "when she's seen", and need to come back. So... They used to be a wonderful, affordable clinic. Things have changed significantly for the worse! I was 8 minutes late today and the front office staff lady gave me a long lecture about how this was a "medical office" and that they would charge for for being so late and they didn't know if they'd be able to see me. When I took a seat she complained to the other patients that she hated it when people were late, etc. When I saw the veterinarian, she looked like she was about 20 years old and would not look me straight in the eye when talking to me. I honestly couldn't tell if she was talking to me or her assistant but apparently, she WAS talking to me and makes it a point not to give eye contact. The office appt. cost $120 to confirm that my cat had a urinary tract infection. Appointments are now 15 minutes long apparently - which costs $50 for the appointment alone (including my $10 late fee). The office was way overcrowded and one vet appeared to be treating all the animals there - there were 8 different families and their dogs in the clinic waiting area. If you can afford better treatment - go somewhere else. Read Less

Blayney Veterinary Clinic came highly recommended by a friend, and while I did have one very positive office visit with one of the doctors, however today I was sorely disappointed and mistreated by its staff. Yesterday I called the office to schedule a routine appointment for my 3 month-old puppy. The woman on the phone was pleasant and offered a date and time (today) that fit my schedule. She then confirmed my appointment prior to hanging up. Then, today, in order to make the half-hour drive out to Caldwell for today's appointment I left work a little early so that I would have enough time to drive home, take my puppy outside to potty, then load everything up and start driving. Upon arriving at Blayney Veterinary Clinic this afternoon I went to check in at the front desk. One of the two women working the desk checked the schedule but did not see my appointment on the books. After rechecking the schedule as well as conferring with a colleague she returned to the desk informing me that the employee I had spoken to the phone the previous day had never finalized my appointment, thus there were no available doctors to see my puppy. The front desk employee then offered to board my puppy for an additional fee of $10, bringing the base rate of the appointment to $50, so that she could be seen by a doctor later in the day. I am disappointed that not only was my appointment not kept but that the staff tried to exploit me by charging me additional fees when, instead, they should have been making a concession in attempting to remedy their error. I had taken my 10 year old dog there since she was a puppy. She'd been pretty healthy all those years, but she required the general care. Spaying, vaccinations, etc. We also used their boarding services on 3 occasions, 2 weeks each time. It seemed like they had a quick turnover of staff. They never remembered us. We generally would never see the same vet twice. During the 4'th of July holiday, my dog quit eating and just didn't act like her happy self. When I called, the moment the clinic opened, and I told them how worried I had been about her, she's really sick. They said it would be 3 days before they could see her! I ended up going in the following day without an appointment, the receptionist was on the phone making an appointment for someone a day earlier then my dogs original appointment. They did see her, but added on an extra fee. The vet said her lab work came back normal and began treating her stomach. Each time I called in to update her condition I would have to explain who we were and what had been done so far. Long story short, she was getting worse and I ended up taking her to another vet clinic that was recommended to me. The Vet figured out her problem in less than an hour. The lab work that Blayney's Vet had said was "normal" was incorrect. There was an elevated white blood cell count. She had cancer,  we took her home for a heart wrenching last weekend together, she was struggling pretty bad by Monday and we had to have her euthanized. I will never take another pet to Blayneys, even if I have to pay more. I need someone who gets to now them when they're well and I can trust when they're not. Read Less

If you live in Idaho, don't go to this vet. My family member used this vet for her dogs. Recently her dog needed its second surgery do to kidney stones within weeks of surgery the dog was passing stones again. When they took the dog in they were extremely rude and uncaring of the issue and took no responsibility for their lack of quality care. This is a vet that has no integrity and compassion for the animals they treat and there owners that pay to keep their animals healthy. I'm very surprised with all the bad reviews here, because I really liked this place. I must be honest, when I first called, the lady was pretty quick and straight forward with me, which I felt a little weird about the friendliness. Anyway, I decided to take my dog there because it's the most affordable Dental I have found in Ada County. My dog started acting a little under the weather a few days before the dental. So I called them since I was concerned. They asked me to go in at 9:30 to see the vet. Lucy got an exam, x-ray, CBP, dental, extraction, heart medication, Lasix prescription, clavamox and pain meds. All for the cost of $391. Basically the Dental alone with extraction, antibiotic and pain meds cost $206. The vet assistant for Dr. Santelli is very nice. I could see Lucy felt well taken care. They charge $10 for anal glands expression. This vet is clean. It's not like Animals R Us, it's way nicer and cleaner, not fancy. It doesn't stink either. Their prices are very comparable to a vet I used in Tucson, AZ so I am happy because we are making less money here and the dental quotes I was getting were in between $350 and $600 per dog and we cannot afford that with 3 dogs. The doctors are great - caring, compassionate, and informative.  Reasonable prices.  I'd give this clinic 5 stars if they had better support staff.  Some of the girls are very nice, but some of the staff lack professionalism and can be quite rude.  No greeting, too hurried, denying me to talk to the doctor to get information prior to a procedure, no compassion, warmth or friendliness, and do not make me feel like a valued customer.  They are either putting on an act of superiority, or they are working at a job that they just don't enjoy, and the customers have to pay the price. Blaney's have the most caring staff we have ever found. We have two cats. They are part of our family. We call them our Grand-cats, and they fill the void caused by "empty nest syndrome". Never been there before, actually just set my 1st appointment, was willing to come clear in from Boise because the price was so awesome. Called to confirm my appointment to have the animal spayed this afternoon (yes I thought it was odd for a PM drop off, then again this is my 1st dog) the girl who answered the phone, 1st of all could not find my appointment, (because it was scheduled with my last name, and MY DOGS name for my 1st name) I was then told she was only scheduled for vaccines and has to have vaccines for 3 weeks before the spay (ok, again my 1st dog) so I said oh I guess that wasn't explained to me.... The person on the phone then snapped back 'Yes it was because I made the appointment!"Yes you may be cheap but no thank you. Even though there is a good chance I just misunderstood the appointment, I'm not paying for that kind of customer service. A simple (polite) I'm sorry for the misunderstanding would do thanks.... My little baby was diagnosed with enlarged heart and heart murmur with no treatment by another vet. This doctor and clinic were fabulous. Polite, professional, knowledgeable, and so kind, Refreshing and economical. He prescribed medication and while she'll always have heart issues, it is manageable. I loved Dr John when I lived in Nampa - could always rely on his help and kindness. We used him for every critter on the place. He treated the animals well and was always there when we needed him. We got transferred to California and I swear Blayney Vet was the 1st place we missed. I had a horse kick thru a fence and almost bleed out. I called every vet for miles and was told by one 60 miles away - if we brought him in they might get around to looking at him in the morning - you cannot even imagine what they charged me, they demanded cash before they ever saw the horse! This morning my daughter called - her son's puppy was sick, very sick. She had taken him to the vet, been charged several hundred dollars and they sent him home for her to care for - she was scared and did not know what to do. I suggested she call Blayneys - she did - they took her right in and helped her. Blayneys still rocks! One word....FANTASTIC!!! First off the prices are over half that of any other Vet around in the Valley. I took my boxer to Petco and was quoted 1,400$$ to remove his toe that has cancer on it. I left crying knowing I could never pay that and he was going to die. I was referred to Blayney's Vet by a great friend. I was there 2 days ago and they quoted me $75-$150 to remove the toe!!!! We have been taking our dogs to Blayney Vet for 11 years, starting with our mini schnauzer, Fritz. He passed in Feb. 2011 and we adopted Phoebe Jane in March 2011. Everyone at the clinic has treated our dogs with the utmost of tender loving care and compassion. We have boarded both dogs with them countless times and they love all the employees, who I might add, spoil them rotten!!! They are very reasonably priced and care for everyone's dog, just like they were their own. I can't say enough about the knowledge all of the vets and tech's have, and they are, bar none, the best place to take your beloved pets, when they need medical attention!!! This is the first vet clinic I've taken my pets to, aside from a few I've been to with family and friends. I chose them because I can't afford to spend extra money on fancy aesthetics or a cute waiting room. But don't be fooled - Blayney is small, but they are incredibly efficient - almost always can make an appt. to my schedule, with a really friendly staff. I've taken in my dog for neutering/shots, and my cat for checkups and getting an abscess drained, and all with ease, support, and a low price tag. I have been going to Blaney's for over 30 years. Started with my horses and have continued with my pets. Prices are very reasonable and decisions are left up to the owner after all options are given and explained. My daughter even brought her cat over from Boise after I called around for her.
