Short version: Adopted an older cat from WVHS to make our apt a bit more homey. She began having skin issues shortly after her spay surgery which another local (highly recommended) vet insisted were caused by a food allergy. After several expensive and ineffective tests and "trials" we took her to CVH for a second opinion. She is now healthy and happy and everything we'd hoped she would be! And, of course, she has NO food allergies. Note to other vet, a cat that has been in a shelter for several weeks, eating whatever cheap food has been donated, WITHOUT symptoms, most likely IS NOT sensitive to commercial cat foods. Brought my dog in to update her shots and get a microchip. They took great care of her. She got a rabies, heartworm test and shot that's good for 6 months. Will be bringing her back for shots and any other care she might need. Read Less

We wish we had known this practice existed, years ago! The care our ginger cats have received is over the top, from the gals who staff the desk to the vet assistants and the doctors. Since 1990, I patronized vets in Boise, Nampa, New Plymouth, and Caldwell, and though all were well-meaning, none of them were as proactive and attentive as these men. My family and I have been going here for years because the staff is so caring. A few years back I brought in my cat knowing there was a good chance I'd have to put her down. Even though the experience was a sad one, the doctor was very comforting letting me say goodbye and staying with my Boo cat until the end. I'm about to take another cat in for some coat care and I'm confident they will take care of him. Read Less

Took my cat to this hospital after being attacked by a dog. The staff was very friendly and the vet was wonderful. He flushed out her wounds and gave her antibiotics. He was very knowledgeable and truly seemed to care about my pet. The price was more than reasonable. Kitty is feeling better already. I would absolutely recommend this animal hospital. Read Less

I'm a caregiver and my client's dog was having trouble breathing. It turns out we got an appointment quicker than the original, and not a moment too soon. Congestive heart failure, going to be treated with medications. The clinic was kind, and efficient, with a clean environment. Mike Oesch DVM was patient and very informative. We had an emergency with our dog who had thrown up a lot of blood one evening. Mike met us at the clinic (even though it was fairly late) and took care of our dog right away. He ran a few tests, drew some blood, gave her some antibiotics and electrolytes, and sent us out with medication to care for her. These guys are scammers. They want 48 bucks just to look at my pet... to do nothing at all. They also said that I couldn't just get a blood test done, that I had to pay the 48 dollars. I hope not all clinics are scammers like this one. Read Less

I don't know where to begin to thank the staff at Caldwell Vet Hospital. We have been going there for many years and they have always been great. However this morning they went above and beyond what they had to do. Last year our German Shorthair Ike was diagnosed with Cancer.The docs at CVH Did surgery and felt they got it. This morning Ike had a terrible seizure and a stroke in our bedroom. My husband is on his final days with cancer as well. I called 911, Caldwell police and a couple of friends but no one could help. But when I called Caldwell vet and they jumped to help me. They did not hesitate to brave the snowy roads and sent a vet to the house who was so caring and she took such wonderful pains to make Ike as comfortable as possible. My whole family has used Caldwell Vet (cooper's) for over 20 years. We have never had a problem with they way they cared for everything from dogs and cats, to cattle and goats. But over the last few years since the place was sold, the service has declined, the prices have increased, and everything has become a hassle. I used to be able to simply walk in and purchase the antibiotic ear cream that my labs needed for $8. Now they refer me to pet Co to buy some name brand product for $30. And I won't even deal with the bald guy. Mike is solid and knows everyone of my animals by name. He is a great vet that genuinely cares for the animals. The place Just seems to have declined. I may have to look for a new vet if things keep going in this direction. Read Less

Dr Mike Eosch has been our Vet since the time I got to Caldwell and that was 15 years ago. I love them all. I love the Dr. Last week I had to put my little companion Corky Lynn down, and he came to my house to help me, as I was an emotional mess. I liked this hospital, until I had to take my older cat in for a loss of weight, vomiting and blood in her stool. They operated and found colon cancer. For the past 7 years, my wife and i have taken our two cats there and had no problems. On this last day of Ms Priss' life, they failed me. We arrived for Priss' final moments to find her in a cage on the floor. Around her were other animals. I had to kneel on the floor to give her a final pet. What i trying to say, they need a small room where owners of pets can sit peacefully with their precious pets and spend the last moments in privacy and have the pet at a level where we can sit and have the animal at our eye level. They were humane, but I just felt we needed a small space just for us. Read Less

I used to like this hospital. They have treated my kitties since we moved to Idaho in 2008.A few months ago to took my older kitty, Ms Priss, to be checked. She had lost a lot of weight, was throwing up a lot and we noticed occasional blood in her stool. They operated and found a tumor in her colon that had spread beyond that.My wife and I arrived shortly later. We wanted to be there for Priss' last moments. She deserved that.We found they had her in the bottom cage in a room with many other animals. We had to get on our knees to give her a final pet goodbye as other animals barked and made a ruckus.They need a quiet room for owners to spend those final minutes with their pets. It needs to be a place where owners can it at eye level with their loved fur babies. That is the humane thing for both owner and pet. Read Less

When we first moved here, we were searching for a vet. Many recommended another, who we went to once -- but after that we experienced two 'emergencies.' I've been taking my dogs to these folks for 10 years and don't have a bad thing to say. They've tested for parvo, fixed tummy aches, and handled me and my pets with compassion when there was nothing else they could do for us. As long as I have pets, I'll take em to these guys. Read Less

After taking our dog when she broke her leg, told her leg was healed. She still limped and favored her leg. Three years and three different vets, we finally found a vet. to listen and x ray her leg. I have almost always taken my animals to Caldwell Veterinary hospital.  the Few times I didn't I was not happy with my decision.  My Pets, Both dogs and Cats, Have always gotten the best care and even when my fat cat was put on special prescription food it was cheapest at the Vet so at least In my opinion it was a good choice..
