First of all, I think Dr. King should get the best Vet in the world award and best Clinic!! I have lived in many places in the US and he was the best vet and Lakewood Clinic was the best I’ve ever see...
First of all, I think Dr. King should get the best Vet in the world award and best Clinic!! I have lived in many places in the US and he was the best vet and Lakewood Clinic was the best I’ve ever seen across the board!! I moved away from Idaho 3 years ago, unfortunately, and every time I take my dog or cat to the vet, I leave wishing to God I could take them back up to Dr. King. His standards are far beyond higher than anyone else’s!! Today I picked up my sick dog from a Denver vet and he had diarrhea all over him. I asked if they had something to help me clean him. A woman came with cotton balls and basically smooshed the diarrhea into his hair more, instead of getting it off. Dr. King would NEVER allow that(he would have never sent my dog home in his condition either)!! Every time my animals had vomiting or diarrhea, the technicians made sure my dog/cat was completely clean. There was a time when my dog had diarrhea as we were leaving and the technicians stopped me, said they would take care of it, took him back and bathed him again. No vet Clinic that I’ve ever been to, other than Lakewood, has ever been that caring!! My animals always came home happy and healthier than when I dropped them off from Lakewood. My animals were also so much healthier when we were able to see Dr. King. All four of my animals health have declined greatly since having to go to other vets. I would do anything to be able to move back to Coeur d’Alene if I could so my fur babies could get the standard of care they deserve. I hope everyone of Dr. King’s patients fully appreciate what they have!! He is a kind, loving, dedicated, super intelligent man who always puts in 100% to all animals. Thank you Lakewood for everything you did for all my fur babies and our extended family fur babies who you continue to treat!! You need to teach other clinics/animal hospitals how to run a great place!!

I love this clinic.
I brought a difficult case to Dr. King about 3 weeks ago. In that time I have been so impressed with the levels of caring and communication I have experienced. Dr. King and his staff give of themselves for a common cause: quality medicine and fantastic customer service. Even when they are a little bit busy everyone is serene and friendly. And I have never had such a level of in-depth answers and information and willingness and availability to address every concern. Answers after hours by email, text, phone and always an invitation to ask about anything you need to.
The clinic is beautiful: appealing decor as opposed to gaudy advertisements from animal pharmaceutical companies. Like being in someone’s living room. And the vibe is so different from where I came from...again, serene, orderly, warm, with the impression that someone smart is in charge. There are calming pheromone diffusers in the exam rooms to help the patients.
I should send them flowers or cookies or something.

I have to strongly disagree with the person who found Dr. King to be rough and ungentle. That is not Dr. King!!! He’s incredibly sweet to my cat and she’s not always so nice. He has a way of talkin...
I have to strongly disagree with the person who found Dr. King to be rough and ungentle. That is not Dr. King!!! He’s incredibly sweet to my cat and she’s not always so nice. He has a way of talking to her in a gentle high pitched voice that puts her at ease. I’ve found that all his staff handles difficult pets like mine in the same nurturing way as Dr. King.
I found Lakewood shortly after moving to CDA about two years ago. Dr. King's vast knowledge and kind heart make this the perfect vet clinic for any pet lover. Further, the facility is the cleanest and most efficiently run animal hospital I have ever been to. I never have to wait to see the doctor. When I arrive for my appointments, I am immediately taken into an exam room. This puts my cat at ease so she doesn't have to sit in the lobby near dogs who are coming and going. I highly recommend this animal hospital.

I've only been to Dr. King once when I made the extremely difficult decision to put my fur baby down. He was extremely compassionate and educational on the process and what my dog would feel/experience. While it was a very hard experience, Dr. King and his staff made me feel better about the process and made it as easy as possible. Best vet I've been to hands down.

We have been seeing Dr King for the past 5 years and have always been pleased with his knowledge and passion for his patients. Recently we had to make the difficult decision to put our beloved dachshund down. Not only did Dr King come in to his clinic on a Sunday night to end our dogs suffering but the caring and compassionate he shows was beyond compare. During such a emotionally difficult time he was there for us and our sweet dog. I can’t say enough about Dr King and his wonderful staff. His heart is truly in the right place. Thank you Dr King and your staff. ❤️

I took my Rag Doll cat Dejah (10 months) to Dr King to get spayed. I had my dad drop her off and he had the same reaction to the staff as I did.
They gave me options on different medicines and treatments based on pricing which was awesome. When I picked her up the Dr. came in with her paperwork and a little picture they had framed for me to take home. It was an adorable touch. They were very detailed with the information that they gave me, which put me at ease.
The night after her surgery, a few hours after we got home, Dr. King called and left me a voicemail around 9 PM checking up on Dejah and said I could call anytime if I had any questions. The office called again the next day around 3 to check up on her. I was in awe with their service and the amount of compassion they showed.
About a week after her surgery I noticed a large lump under her incision. I called the office around 9:30 PM and since it was after hours it paged Dr. King. He answered, knew exactly who I was and told me it wasn't anything to worry about but if I wanted to I could bring her by the office the next day. I took her in the next day after work about an hour before they closed and even though there were no available rooms, one of the techs came and grabbed her so that Dr. King could take a look at her between visits. Within 5 minutes she was back and they explained it was most likely her sutures dissolving. They didn't even charge me for their time.
If your looking for a good Vet that you can trust with your fur child, then your search is over. Dr. King and his staff will show your pet a respectful amount of compassion and care.

I have been taking my little dog to Lakewood Animal Hospital for two years. I have never received anything less than the best! Dr. King is very thorough with his exams and always takes as much time as needed to answer any questions you have in a way that is easily understood. I wouldn't take my four legged family member anywhere else!

Lakewood Animal Hospital is the only place I will ever take my pets. Their caring, compassionate, and kind demenor is apparent as soon as I walk in the front door. My pets are never nervous and enjoy their time with Dr. King and his staff. I bring my long hair cat in for grooming and a lion style hair cut twice yearly and he comes back home relaxed, handsome, and proudly struts his new "do" around the house. I am always comfortable with the personalized recommendations Dr. King provides pertaining to each of my pets health and well-being. I have and will continue to recommend Lakewood to all of my friends and family.

I€ve taken my dog and two cats to Dr. King for several years. I found Lakewood after visiting several other vets. Dr. King is the smartest vet around but he is also easy to talk to - does not talk down to you. He€s also not afraid to recommend specialists when necessary. For example, when my dog needed a complicated orthopedic surgery, Dr. King said that he could do it himself but suggested that the vet school at Washington State would be the best place to have it done because their surgeons do that type of surgery all the time. He also diagnosed my dog with a very rare form of auto-immune skin disease. Even though this form of skin disease can be fatal, he was able treat him to the point he was in full remission. Right from the beginning he told me about seeing the dermatologist specialist but gave me the option of doing as much as he could at his hospital first. I really valued that he offered for me to go to the specialist in both cases even though he could have kept the business for himself. He always does what is best for the animal. That is always his number one priority. He was also able to figure out my other dog€s chronic skin itching. For two years my dog itched and shed constantly. Dr. King prescribed a medication called Apoquel that has changed my dog€s life. He is so much more comfortable now! If your dog has a problem that your vet hasn€t been able to figure out, try Dr. King and he will figure out the problem.

Lakewood Animal Hospital is the only care facility I will take my 3 dogs and 1 cat. Dr. King and his staff are soo caring and professional my animals are never nervous or uncomfortable. My smallest dog, Toma, is about 16 years old and has developed swelling around his spinal cord just above his back legs. This makes it difficult for him to walk so rather than suggest surgery Dr. King suggested we just put him on steroids. This treatment is working very well and Toma is his old active self again. I would recommend Lakewood Animal Hospital and Dr. king to everyone needing care for their fur babies without any reservations. Jeri Dial Spokane Valley, Washington

This is the best place anywhere to bring your pets! Dr King and all of his staff are very kind and caring people with a great love and concern for our furry "children". All rooms are spotless and odor free and when I board our 10 pound papillon I can do so worry free - she is well taken care of. Plus they have occasional Meet & Greets for family & dogs such as a recent Howloween Party. I can't say enough nice things.

Dr. King and his staff are all so kind and compassionate. We had a cat that had come to us as a stray and clearly needed medical attention. She was a grumpy critter when it came to being picked up or held, but Dr. King didn't let her growling and hissing slow him down. He treated her with the same calm friendliness that he and his staff have displayed toward all of my animals. I feel safe in the knowledge that every single person, from the moment I walk in the door, honestly cares about my fur babies.

I have been meaning to get on here and write a review for Lakewood Animal Hospital for quite some time. I have been taking my pets here for years and I will continue to do so until...well...forever! Dr. Bruce is amazing, he exudes love for animals and you can tell that he absolutely LOVES what he does for a living! Not only that, but he truly cares for the families of his furry patients. I took my dog in yesterday for a quick nail trim, and Dr. Bruce happened to walk by as I was in the waiting area and, without missing a beat, he wished me a happy birthday...this astounds me considering my birthday was last week, and I have not been in to the vet for many months, and yet he just happened to remember when my birthday was. :) Aside from the personal touch and amazing vet skills that Dr. Bruce has, the entirety of the staff is top notch. From the time that you walk through the front doors, you are greeted with a smile and genuine caring for both you and your pet. In particular, there is a Veterinary Assistant there named Angie who not only has a smile that lights up the room, but, if it is possible, her passion for animals may even outshine Dr. Bruce's.
All of that to say, if you have a pet who needs any kind of attention, from a simple nail trim, to a complex surgery, Lakewood Animal Hospital is without a doubt where you want to take your furry family members!

Please DO NOT listen to any of the negative reviews about this doctor. He is bar non the BEST Vet you will ever have the privilege of meeting. The amount of compassion and care he gives his patients (your animals) is above and beyond incredible. He is higher priced than the competition but let me ask you... do you want cheap care or the BEST care for your animals? This doctor is worth every penny and his staff is of equal caliber. From proper diagnosis to 9pm phone calls checking on his patients, I have never seen a doctor who loves animals more than Dr. King. Basically put... if you don't go here then you are depriving your animal of the best care it could be getting.

Way over priced! Do not go here! Got a quote for how much everything would cost and went to a different vet where the total cost was cut in half. They charge for every little thing here, including an additional $99 just to read an xray since the vet isn't trained to do that. They do not offer military discount.
My advice would be to call around and find a vet who really cares about animals, who appreciates military, who is trained to do their job and who isn't out to make all the money they can.
We took our business to Veterinary Services in Hayden, Idaho :)

Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Love the inside of the facility; beautiful and cozy. Dr. Bruce King is amazing! He is very nice, knowledgeable, and has a lot of patience, answered all of our questions; he took time with us and made us feel at ease. You can tell that he loves animals and truly cares about what he does. This was our first visit and 100% we will continue to go there. Thank you!! Would highly recommend.

They also take the time to answer my 10-year-old son's questions with patience and without talking down to him, which I LOVE! Just a great office overall and I feel very confident in leaving the care of my furry child in their hands!

My cat HATES going to the vet. Normally extremely well mannered, the moment he's taken out of the kennel, he's hissing and growling, scratching and fighting. Bruce was very gentle and patient, even though my cat was scared and uncooperative. He was knowledgeable and friendly and used a soothing voice when talking to my kitty during the exam. I'm new to the area but I feel like I have found a vet for life. Highly recommended!

I took my Rag Doll cat Dejah (10 months) to Dr King to get spayed. I had my dad drop her off and he had the same reaction to the staff as I did.
They gave me options on different medicines and treatments based on pricing which was awesome. When I picked her up the Dr. came in with her paperwork and a little picture they had framed for me to take home. It was an adorable touch. They were very detailed with the information that they gave me, which put me at ease.
The night after her surgery, a few hours after we got home, Dr. King called and left me a voicemail around 9 PM checking up on Dejah and said I could call anytime if I had any questions. The office called again the next day around 3 to check up on her. I was in awe with their service and the amount of compassion they showed.
About a week after her surgery I noticed a large lump under her incision. I called the office around 9:30 PM and since it was after hours it paged Dr. King. He answered, knew exactly who I was and told me it wasn't anything to worry about but if I wanted to I could bring her by the office the next day. I took her in the next day after work about an hour before they closed and even though there were no available rooms, one of the techs came and grabbed her so that Dr. King could take a look at her between visits. Within 5 minutes she was back and they explained it was most likely her sutures dissolving. They didn't even charge me for their time.
If your looking for a good Vet that you can trust with your fur child, then your search is over. Dr. King and his staff will show your pet a respectful amount of compassion and care.

I have been taking my little dog to Lakewood Animal Hospital for two years. I have never received anything less than the best! Dr. King is very thorough with his exams and always takes as much time as needed to answer any questions you have in a way that is easily understood. I wouldn't take my four legged family member anywhere else!

Lakewood Animal Hospital is the only place I will ever take my pets. Their caring, compassionate, and kind demenor is apparent as soon as I walk in the front door. My pets are never nervous and enjoy their time with Dr. King and his staff. I bring my long hair cat in for grooming and a lion style hair cut twice yearly and he comes back home relaxed, handsome, and proudly struts his new "do" around the house. I am always comfortable with the personalized recommendations Dr. King provides pertaining to each of my pets health and well-being. I have and will continue to recommend Lakewood to all of my friends and family.

I€ve taken my dog and two cats to Dr. King for several years. I found Lakewood after visiting several other vets. Dr. King is the smartest vet around but he is also easy to talk to - does not talk down to you. He€s also not afraid to recommend specialists when necessary. For example, when my dog needed a complicated orthopedic surgery, Dr. King said that he could do it himself but suggested that the vet school at Washington State would be the best place to have it done because their surgeons do that type of surgery all the time. He also diagnosed my dog with a very rare form of auto-immune skin disease. Even though this form of skin disease can be fatal, he was able treat him to the point he was in full remission. Right from the beginning he told me about seeing the dermatologist specialist but gave me the option of doing as much as he could at his hospital first. I really valued that he offered for me to go to the specialist in both cases even though he could have kept the business for himself. He always does what is best for the animal. That is always his number one priority. He was also able to figure out my other dog€s chronic skin itching. For two years my dog itched and shed constantly. Dr. King prescribed a medication called Apoquel that has changed my dog€s life. He is so much more comfortable now! If your dog has a problem that your vet hasn€t been able to figure out, try Dr. King and he will figure out the problem.

Lakewood Animal Hospital is the only care facility I will take my 3 dogs and 1 cat. Dr. King and his staff are soo caring and professional my animals are never nervous or uncomfortable. My smallest dog, Toma, is about 16 years old and has developed swelling around his spinal cord just above his back legs. This makes it difficult for him to walk so rather than suggest surgery Dr. King suggested we just put him on steroids. This treatment is working very well and Toma is his old active self again. This is the best place anywhere to bring your pets! Dr King and all of his staff are very kind and caring people with a great love and concern for our furry "children". All rooms are spotless and odor free and when I board our 10 pound papillon I can do so worry free - she is well taken care of. Plus they have occasional Meet & Greets for family & dogs such as a recent Howloween Party. I can't say enough nice things.

Dr. King and his staff are all so kind and compassionate. We had a cat that had come to us as a stray and clearly needed medical attention. She was a grumpy critter when it came to being picked up or held, but Dr. King didn't let her growling and hissing slow him down. He treated her with the same calm friendliness that he and his staff have displayed toward all of my animals. I feel safe in the knowledge that every single person, from the moment I walk in the door, honestly cares about my fur babies.

I am new to town and looked up vets for my lab to go to for his chronic ear infections that we have been treating. Dr. King and his staff are AMAZING! We felt very welcomed there. They are absolutely wonderful with my Kobie! His treatment plan is what finally worked for my boy! I will continue to take all of my dogs here.

I have been meaning to get on here and write a review for Lakewood Animal Hospital for quite some time. I have been taking my pets here for years and I will continue to do so until...well...forever! Dr. Bruce is amazing, he exudes love for animals and you can tell that he absolutely LOVES what he does for a living! Not only that, but he truly cares for the families of his furry patients. I took my dog in yesterday for a quick nail trim, and Dr. Bruce happened to walk by as I was in the waiting area and, without missing a beat, he wished me a happy birthday...this astounds me considering my birthday was last week, and I have not been in to the vet for many months, and yet he just happened to remember when my birthday was. :) Aside from the personal touch and amazing vet skills that Dr. Bruce has, the entirety of the staff is top notch. From the time that you walk through the front doors, you are greeted with a smile and genuine caring for both you and your pet. In particular, there is a Veterinary Assistant there named Angie who not only has a smile that lights up the room, but, if it is possible, her passion for animals may even outshine Dr. Bruce's.
All of that to say, if you have a pet who needs any kind of attention, from a simple nail trim, to a complex surgery, Lakewood Animal Hospital is without a doubt where you want to take your furry family members!

Please DO NOT listen to any of the negative reviews about this doctor. He is bar non the BEST Vet you will ever have the privilege of meeting. The amount of compassion and care he gives his patients (your animals) is above and beyond incredible. He is higher priced than the competition but let me ask you... do you want cheap care or the BEST care for your animals? This doctor is worth every penny and his staff is of equal caliber. From proper diagnosis to 9pm phone calls checking on his patients, I have never seen a doctor who loves animals more than Dr. King. Basically put... if you don't go here then you are depriving your animal of the best care it could be getting.

Way over priced! Do not go here! Got a quote for how much everything would cost and went to a different vet where the total cost was cut in half. They charge for every little thing here, including an additional $99 just to read an xray since the vet isn't trained to do that. They do not offer military discount.
My advice would be to call around and find a vet who really cares about animals, who appreciates military, who is trained to do their job and who isn't out to make all the money they can.
We took our business to Veterinary Services in Hayden, Idaho :)

Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Love the inside of the facility; beautiful and cozy. Dr. Bruce King is amazing! He is very nice, knowledgeable, and has a lot of patience, answered all of our questions; he took time with us and made us feel at ease. You can tell that he loves animals and truly cares about what he does. This was our first visit and 100% we will continue to go there. Thank you!! Would highly recommend.

Just a great office overall and I feel very confident in leaving the care of my furry child in their hands!

My cat HATES going to the vet. Normally extremely well mannered, the moment he's taken out of the kennel, he's hissing and growling, scratching and fighting. Bruce was very gentle and patient, even though my cat was scared and uncooperative. He was knowledgeable and friendly and used a soothing voice when talking to my kitty during the exam. I'm new to the area but I feel like I have found a vet for life. Highly recommended!
