General Info
Intermountain Pet Hospital first opened its doors on August 1, 1983, and quickly established itself as a leader in pet health care for suburban Meridian. At that time, no one could have imagined the technological advances available today that would necessitate a full remodel of our facility. We moved in to our completely renovated hospital in February 2003 and have continued to ensure that all of our equipment and technology remains cutting edge. At the same time, we opened our unique Pet Lodge, which allows us to meet each and every need of our clients—no matter how big or small.
Our philosophy can best be explained in our mission statement:
The Intermountain Pet Hospital commits as a team to provide quality medical care by continuing to educate ourselves with the most advanced training available and maintaining facilities equipped with leading-edge technology and equipment.
We give compassionate, loving care to each of God’s creatures through wellness, protection, and relief of animal suffering. In all circumstances we treat others as we want to be treated and strive to always exceed our clients’ expectations.
We celebrate and nurture the human–animal bond in our community and ourselves and provide services to support this bond.
We understand that your time is important, and we strive to maximize our time with you and your pet in the office. Many of our doctors are active in the local 4-H programs and enjoy reaching out to the youth who are tomorrow’s farmers and veterinarians. In addition to 4-H, we have been active participants in the Paws for the Heart walk-a-thon, we assist Meridian Valley Humane Society with free rabies shots and exams, and we give tours to school and church groups to further instill a love of animals and veterinary science.

Our concerns were met and tests were ran. I am so happy someone took their time to look at our baby and help her as much as they could. We are lucky she is healthy but now know what to look for if she takes a turn. I also want to say how clean the place looked and smelled. They were very good at helping with the euthenasia of our older cat recently. Very sensitive and caring approach and a quiet sitting room where the pet's passing is done very respectfully. There were some issues getting advice on a couple of questions prior to the euthenasia, which is the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. We usually go to the Overland location but went to the Chinden location for the procedure based largely on the time available.

Seriously great staff! I highly recommend! We have taken Gus our 13 yr old corgi mix and Fiona our 16 yr old cat here for multiple reasons and we are always extremely happy with the service. After bouncing around between different Vets feeling dishearten at the lack of service. We are so happy we found IPH.
Dr. Miller is our favorite, she is warm, very kind and informative. That is not to say that all the other techs and Drs aren’t just amazing. This facility is about eliminating fear for your pet and it shows! Thanks again for everything!

I think you need to take the word "Hospital" out of your sign. Its very misleading. Yesterday we drove from Harris Ranch to your location in Meridian because I wanted your vets to look at my puppy. Your parking lot was pretty empty an there wasn't anyone in your lobby. Your girls were all standing around, and your phone wasnt ringing. I told your front desk person that my puppy had just broken her foot and she was in a lot of pain. She asked me if I had an "appointment". Of course I didn't because this was an unplanned event. She couldn't seem to fit me in nor did she act like she cared to. She actually shrugged her shoulders like it was hopeless. It wasnt just rude but the strangest experience I've ever had in this kind of situation. I'm really sorry your staff treated us this way, because I know you have good Vets back there. My granddaughter was with she was crying because we had to find another place to get Maggie help. She didn't understand why you couldn't help. I told her that your place doesn't take care of emergencies. Hospitals take care of emergencies. Youre not a Hospital. We went up the street to All Valley Animal Care Center. All Valley was super busy. Lots of people and pets in the lobby, parking lot was full, phones were ringing and the front desk team was working hard to take care of everyone. When told them my puppy's foot was broken, they had us in a room within minutes. They took x-rays, and got her comfortable with pain medicine. She ended up having to stay for the day so they could reset her foot. She ended up getting it reset and wrapped with an apt. later this week with an Orthopedic Vet. Of course this all took some time to get it done, but they considered a broken foot a priority. Why don't you?

They did a blood transfusion on our kitty after he had a bad prognosis and every single member of the staff has been incredible! We've been in the clinic at least a dozen times since the end of December trying to figure out what was wrong and they are always so kind and helpful. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Dr. Wick and Dr. Hunt, they have stayed late and come in on days off in part to help Henry and because of them he is back to his healthy self. If I could I would rate this clinic higher!!

My son's vet so he recommended this vet office to me when I moved here. Intermountain Pet has been very caring and loving towards my dogs and cat I have taken there. I had to put my old cat down when she broke her spine and other issues were there. They were so nice and give you a home like feel room and all the time you need to say your last good byes. (I have been there when my son had to put his old dog down too). Afterwards you can have your pets ashes spread at Donellys Christmas Tree Farm if you choose. Which I choose. My recent visit I called that day, got an appt that day, and was seen right away when I got there. I had to wait for blood test maybe 20min, but that's probably the longest wait always. All the doctors there have always been very professional, carrying towards my pets needs and mine. I love this place and would recommend it. I find no matter what vet you go to I find they are expensive. I have found out you can get the meds cheaper if you order them online, but then again you need to wait a few days more to get them. Not worth the wait when my animals life maybe on the line. I rated them a 4 as I believe everyone as room for improvement.

I was referred to this vet by another vet in the area because I needed to get my cat declawed and was told that Intermountain Hospital was the place to go to get it done. After talking to the front staff, they told me that yes, the do indeed do declaws on a case by case basis and that I would just have to meet with the Vet first before the surgery could be scheduled. So this morning I went to meet Dr. Shapero and explain to him why I needed my cat declawed. I explained to him that the cat was essentially a therapy cat for my son helping him recoup after heart surgery with more to come, that we had moved here in an emergency situation to get away from my drug addict spouse and were now living with my dad and that my cat was clawing up the furniture. Told him that if I didn't get her declawed I would have to put her down..he looked at me and said we don't declaw cats, it's not in their best welfare etc. I asked him why I'd been referred here, why I was told by front staff that they did do declaws and as I was near tears asked him how can it be better for a cat to be euthanized than declawed? He had no answers for me just that he wouldn't do it, I was not only made to feel like a terrible human being but wasted my time here..

I have been bringing my hedgehogs to Dr. Konsella (sorry if I misspelt that) for about 2 ish years. My first hedgehog was not well taken care of before I got him and when we took him in he had a growth on his back. The staff and Dr. Konsella were kind, professional and understanding. A year after we first brought my hedgehog, Hank, in we had to put him down because he had cancer and was fading. The entire hospital was kind and made it a lot easier. They send a card and donated money to a foundation in Hank's name. I trusted them to care for his body respectfully. On a happier note, about a year ago I brought a new hedgehog in. Her name is Ivory. They were careful and understanding with her, and explained everything that was going on. We will be taking Ivory in again soon since she will be a year old and needs an annual exam. I trust all of their staff with my animals and would suggest them to anyone. Today, I job shadowed two of the techs and saw more of behind the scenes info. They are always respectful but casual enough not to make you uncomfortable. I will be job shadowing there again soon. They made it a very pleasant and educational experience. Love them so much!

Our senior German Shepherd, Sasha, took a very fast turn in her health. We knew that she would not recover and had to make one of the hardest decisions we've been faced with, to tell our sweet girl of 15 years goodbye. It was Sunday and our normal vet was closed, we didn't want Sasha to suffer so I called Intermountain Pet Hospital. Thru my tears I explained our situation. They got us in that same day, and were so caring, kind, and understanding. They were genuinely sharing our pain. They made Sasha comfortable, and helped us know we were doing the best thing for her. They listened to our stories about her life, and let us take as much time as we needed with her. I cannot say enough about how appreciatve we were for the compassion and professionalism they displayed. Thank you. You've definitely gained our future business.

Just took our pup in to be spayed. They texted me updates and the doctor called when she was done. I appreciated the updates and call! They also chipped and updated her shots then to top it off trimmed her nails and we didn't even ask for that! The care was excellent and she is doing beautifully today. My parents have taken their dog here for years and always raved about the care. We loved the care they gave our baby and the price was reasonable. thank you!

Understanding that it was a Sunday and they were understaffed! I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was put in a room relatively quickly. I was informed there was only one doctor in today and it would be a while in which I sat for 40 minutes before seeing anyone! During this time I could hear part of the staff complaining about of the individuals who were asking about the long wait times. Dr Wicks was awesome and is the only reason this rating is a 2! He was quick to decision and provided great breakdowns of the situation and didn't waste any time. We went for X-rays and a blood work up! These were quick to get accomplished and back to the room to wait the standard 30 minutes for blood work to turn around! After 30 minutes they informed me that the blood panel was done and the doc would be in shortly to give me the results. 40 minutes later he was able to get a break from the others in order to come in and give me the results! Let me be clear the Dr. Wicks was awesome and deserves a better staff to support him! More doctors would have nice but I understand it was Sunday! Two and a half hours is ridiculous! Hope they enjoyed my $500 because never again!

I took my cat in to this vet for her foot. I thought it was an abscess. The vet looked at her teeth then glanced at the oozy foot and said well we'll probably need to keep her, let me get you an estimate... I got my estimate of $503!!!! I said ummm noooooo that's ok and took her to Caldwell to my normal vet and my total bill was$100 which included all of her shots and antibiotics and exam fee. I still had pay the other vet the $65 exam-less fee, but I won't be going back to this place.. That's ridiculous!

Dr. Miller is our favorite, she is warm, very kind and informative. That is not to say that all the other techs and Drs aren’t just amazing. This facility is about eliminating fear for your pet and it shows! Thanks again for everything!

I think you need to take the word "Hospital" out of your sign. Its very misleading. Yesterday we drove from Harris Ranch to your location in Meridian because I wanted your vets to look at my puppy. Your parking lot was pretty empty an there wasn't anyone in your lobby. Your girls were all standing around, and your phone wasnt ringing. I told your front desk person that my puppy had just broken her foot and she was in a lot of pain. She asked me if I had an "appointment". Of course I didn't because this was an unplanned event. She couldn't seem to fit me in nor did she act like she cared to. She actually shrugged her shoulders like it was hopeless. It wasnt just rude but the strangest experience I've ever had in this kind of situation. I'm really sorry your staff treated us this way, because I know you have good Vets back there. My granddaughter was with she was crying because we had to find another place to get Maggie help. She didn't understand why you couldn't help. I told her that your place doesn't take care of emergencies. Hospitals take care of emergencies. Youre not a Hospital. We went up the street to All Valley Animal Care Center. All Valley was super busy. Lots of people and pets in the lobby, parking lot was full, phones were ringing and the front desk team was working hard to take care of everyone. When told them my puppy's foot was broken, they had us in a room within minutes. They took x-rays, and got her comfortable with pain medicine. She ended up having to stay for the day so they could reset her foot. She ended up getting it reset and wrapped with an apt. later this week with an Orthopedic Vet. Of course this all took some time to get it done, but they considered a broken foot a priority. Why don't you?

They did a blood transfusion on our kitty after he had a bad prognosis and every single member of the staff has been incredible! We've been in the clinic at least a dozen times since the end of December trying to figure out what was wrong and they are always so kind and helpful. I cannot express the gratitude I have for Dr. Wick and Dr. Hunt, they have stayed late and come in on days off in part to help Henry and because of them he is back to his healthy self. If I could I would rate this clinic higher!!

My son's vet so he recommended this vet office to me when I moved here. Intermountain Pet has been very caring and loving towards my dogs and cat I have taken there. I had to put my old cat down when she broke her spine and other issues were there. They were so nice and give you a home like feel room and all the time you need to say your last good byes. (I have been there when my son had to put his old dog down too). Afterwards you can have your pets ashes spread at Donellys Christmas Tree Farm if you choose. Which I choose. My recent visit I called that day, got an appt that day, and was seen right away when I got there. I had to wait for blood test maybe 20min, but that's probably the longest wait always. All the doctors there have always been very professional, carrying towards my pets needs and mine. I love this place and would recommend it. I find no matter what vet you go to I find they are expensive. I have found out you can get the meds cheaper if you order them online, but then again you need to wait a few days more to get them. Not worth the wait when my animals life maybe on the line. I rated them a 4 as I believe everyone as room for improvement.

I was referred to this vet by another vet in the area because I needed to get my cat declawed and was told that Intermountain Hospital was the place to go to get it done. After talking to the front staff, they told me that yes, the do indeed do declaws on a case by case basis and that I would just have to meet with the Vet first before the surgery could be scheduled. So this morning I went to meet Dr. Shapero and explain to him why I needed my cat declawed. I explained to him that the cat was essentially a therapy cat for my son helping him recoup after heart surgery with more to come, that we had moved here in an emergency situation to get away from my drug addict spouse and were now living with my dad and that my cat was clawing up the furniture. Told him that if I didn't get her declawed I would have to put her down..he looked at me and said we don't declaw cats, it's not in their best welfare etc. I asked him why I'd been referred here, why I was told by front staff that they did do declaws and as I was near tears asked him how can it be better for a cat to be euthanized than declawed? He had no answers for me just that he wouldn't do it, I was not only made to feel like a terrible human being but wasted my time here..

I have been bringing my hedgehogs to Dr. Konsella (sorry if I misspelt that) for about 2 ish years. My first hedgehog was not well taken care of before I got him and when we took him in he had a growth on his back. The staff and Dr. Konsella were kind, professional and understanding. A year after we first brought my hedgehog, Hank, in we had to put him down because he had cancer and was fading. The entire hospital was kind and made it a lot easier. They send a card and donated money to a foundation in Hank's name. I trusted them to care for his body respectfully. On a happier note, about a year ago I brought a new hedgehog in. Her name is Ivory. They were careful and understanding with her, and explained everything that was going on. We will be taking Ivory in again soon since she will be a year old and needs an annual exam. I trust all of their staff with my animals and would suggest them to anyone. Today, I job shadowed two of the techs and saw more of behind the scenes info. They are always respectful but casual enough not to make you uncomfortable. I will be job shadowing there again soon. They made it a very pleasant and educational experience. Love them so much!

Our senior German Shepherd, Sasha, took a very fast turn in her health. We knew that she would not recover and had to make one of the hardest decisions we've been faced with, to tell our sweet girl of 15 years goodbye. It was Sunday and our normal vet was closed, we didn't want Sasha to suffer so I called Intermountain Pet Hospital. Thru my tears I explained our situation. They got us in that same day, and were so caring, kind, and understanding. They were genuinely sharing our pain. They made Sasha comfortable, and helped us know we were doing the best thing for her. They listened to our stories about her life, and let us take as much time as we needed with her. I cannot say enough about how appreciatve we were for the compassion and professionalism they displayed. Thank you. You've definitely gained our future business.

They also chipped and updated her shots then to top it off trimmed her nails and we didn't even ask for that! The care was excellent and she is doing beautifully today. My parents have taken their dog here for years and always raved about the care. We loved the care they gave our baby and the price was reasonable. thank you!

Understanding that it was a Sunday and they were understaffed! I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was put in a room relatively quickly. I was informed there was only one doctor in today and it would be a while in which I sat for 40 minutes before seeing anyone! During this time I could hear part of the staff complaining about of the individuals who were asking about the long wait times. Dr Wicks was awesome and is the only reason this rating is a 2! He was quick to decision and provided great breakdowns of the situation and didn't waste any time. We went for X-rays and a blood work up! These were quick to get accomplished and back to the room to wait the standard 30 minutes for blood work to turn around! After 30 minutes they informed me that the blood panel was done and the doc would be in shortly to give me the results. 40 minutes later he was able to get a break from the others in order to come in and give me the results! Let me be clear the Dr. Wicks was awesome and deserves a better staff to support him! More doctors would have nice but I understand it was Sunday! Two and a half hours is ridiculous! Hope they enjoyed my $500 because never again!

They always remember me (and my puppy), and act truly happy to see us. They've fit my "baby" in for a health concern on a moment's notice and honestly care. What more could you ask from a vet?

I took my cat in to this vet for her foot. I thought it was an abscess. The vet looked at her teeth then glanced at the oozy foot and said well we'll probably need to keep her, let me get you an estimate... I got my estimate of $503!!!! I said ummm noooooo that's ok and took her to Caldwell to my normal vet and my total bill was$100 which included all of her shots and antibiotics and exam fee. I still had pay the other vet the $65 exam-less fee, but I won't be going back to this place.. That's ridiculous!
