My husband and I, like so many others that have posted, cannot recommend MVH highly enough. Dr. Higer and his team are absolutely amazing. Caring, kind, compassionate...Truly invest in you and your pets and answer any questions you have without judgment. We have looked for a vet for the past year and a half we’ve been here and I can say that the third time is without a doubt the charm in this situation. Required redundant and unnecessary testing for our dog that has Cushing's disease and kept the dosage of meds too low. We took our dog to another local vet that looked at the results and fixed the meds. The new vet will not need another $190 test as long as the dog is healthy, unlike taking her here where she was required to test every 3 to 4 months costing us hundreds of extra dollars. I had enough after the first $1000. We won't be going back. Read Less

A couple weeks ago I called to make an appointment for the following week, I had to call them back the next day to cancel because my pup didn't make it through the night. A couple days later I got the sweetest sympathy card from them and it really meant a lot to me, my dog had only been in there 1 time and they still took the time to send a card, I will never forget that! I truly can't say enough good things about this place! The staff went above and beyond their normal duties. They called and updated me before and after my little guys surgery, and then even called a couple of days after we brought him home to make sure he was doing ok. We weren't established yet with a vet in Meridian. I had a very sick elderly dog. Upon calling they got me in within an hour. From the moment we walked in the door every staff member I came in contact with was professional, kind, caring, and compassionate. A tough decision was made that day. Dr. Albrecht was straight forward and honest. I appreciated not only her compassion but ability to help me navigate through the situation. Absolutely recommend this place!!! Read Less

My family and I have used this vet clinic for at least 10 years now. I used to recommend this clinic to anyone that listened. I was happy with the care my pets received, the care the vets put into them and how easy the staff were to communicate with. I even moved out of the area and still made the trips in to continue to use this clinic. Well that stopped today. We adopted a kitten from a shelter. I know there's risk of animals being sick when they leave but it not showing up right away. Well that's what happened with our little guy. Within a couple days of coming home he clearly was sick. So I called and made an appointment. The soonest I could get him in was 4 days. It looked like only some type of upper respiratory condition. So we are doing our best to keep him separate from our dog and other cat. Washing hands frequently and basically anything we can do. But the poor little guy starts having diarrhea last night. Well he's a baby and only a couple of pounds. That's something that needs to be looked at asap. He can dehydrate and go downhill quick. So I called hoping to find a way to get squeezed in towards the end of the day. I explained the situation and that once I'm off work and make the drive home then back to them it'll be the end of the day. I was told I can wait two more days or bring him in in 2.5 hours. Um if I left work right this second I wouldn't make that with drive times. Not only that but if I left work I wouldn't have a job. I explain we are extremely short staffed and people have already been told no for urgent matters. So if I want to have a job to be able to pay for the vet care I can't leave early. Not everyone has the kind of job that they have that luxury. So I got an instant attitude from the receptionist. Like I was some bad person for not doing that. I was basically told come in in a couple hours or wait till Wednesday. Two more days from now. So I called another vet hospital that's close to my home and they squeezed me in at the end of the day. And were happy to do it. They did explain I may have to wait a bit longer but they would get him taken care of due to the symptoms and circumstances. That's reasonable! If a person is sick to that degree that they could go downhill fast a doctors office leaves appointments open for same day needed visits. I have always had vets that did the same thing. But apparently Meridian Vet Hospital doesn't do this. So much for 10+ year long vet/pet relationship. I realize it isn't the vets themselves. But maybe Meridian should look into their staff training and office policies. All vets say your pet needs to be seen as soon as possible when they have diarrhea due to the risk of crash from dehydration. Among other things. Well if they leave no appointments for the same day needed squeeze ins then what? I will not be returning after this. I'm sure that I can find caring vets that can actually see my pet without rude front office staff and a fight to get them in for a service I pay for.Read Less

I absolutely love these people. They truly love our pets as much as we do. I recently had to have my 16 years old puppy put to sleep when her quality of life was to the point she was suffering. The took such great care of her, and me as well. Today I got a card and a paper with a poem and a paw print from Sadie. I could not believe they went that extra step to show just how much they care. Dr. Fisher is the best. She was the reason we adopted two kittens and she's been our vet ever since. My experience with Meridian Veterinary Hospital has been nothing but spectacular. The desk staff are friendly and helpful. They have an office cat named Sawyer who is such a cutie (but may hiss at your cat haha). This place is definitely not as costly as others, but still expensive without insurance (like every veterinarian). Overall, I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Read Less

I have been taking my Great Danes for 7 yrs to MVH after a horrible experience at another (popular) Vet Clinic. They were very consoling when I had to put one down. My recent visit my big guy was hurt with unknown pain. We figured it out and within a week he was feeling better. Our big guy loves coming to the Vet! I have seen most of the vets there and they all are great. I have a new Great Dane and I will definitely be taking her here. Read Less

HORRIBLE!!!!! They sent our cat home with an abscess, a fever and in worse condition than when he went in, just for blood work! Finding out they tore a scab off, didn't tell us, Rushed him to West Valley, love them! They found a heart issues, a puncture wound and felt Tiger was not treated correctly earlier in the day. Reason for not mentioning fever, stress...Oh I tried to get a good heart beat, even used all my tricks, but just could not get one he was purring so loud! HORRIBLE!!! They sent our cat home with an fever of 106, abscess and after taking him to the emergency clinic in Garden City at 9 pm they found a heart problem as well as puncture wound. When speaking with Meridian, "Oh we noticed a scab and picked it off, and I tried every trick to get a heart beat reading, but Tiger was just purring to loud, seriously! Never will any of my animals will darken their door step again! Read Less

I have been going there since we moved here in 1972. They are the best. I even had one of the Docters take my dog home to her house. The dog had surgery on a Friday and she didn't want to leave it at the hospital on the weekend with out someone there 24hrs to watch her. Read Less

My female Chihuahua does not like male vets at all. Dr. Fisher and Dr. Albrecht have been the perfect match for Sissy's personality. Dr. Albrecht did a super job on Sissy's teeth. Glad you have two female vets for my Chi that doesn't like men. Read Less

Meridian Vet Hospital was very caring and wonderful during our Golden Retriever, Morgan transitioning to the Rainbow Bridge. They allowed us to stay with him during this time. They took good care of him and returned his ashes to us in a timely fashion. Read Less

These guys are the best in the business. They treat you and your pet like family. We recently lost our golden retriever due to cancer and they treated us so kindly and really cared. We tried three other highly recommended vets upon moving to Idaho. Meridian Vet and Dr Higer was the only one we really liked and trusted. It's obvious he truly cares about our dog and he doesn't hesitate to recommend a specialist when needed either. Just today he called to check on our sweet Bailey. My first experience with MVH was to unfortunately put down my cat. The were so compassionate & understanding as a blubbered about my furbaby. They were also by far the cheapest when I called around for pricing. And I love to see what Bible verse they are displaying each week!! Read Less

We take take all our pets there. They are great professional staff. They have taken great care of our parvo pup and nursed him back to health. They always patient and never feel like you're bothering them. Won't take our animals anywhere else. Read Less

I had my Husky mix spayed here in 2015 and they did an excellent job. They got her appointment scheduled ASAP and I got great service. Now I don't have to worry about her ever having puppies. Would highly recommend.Read Less

Recently had my 6 month old kitten declawed. Enjoyed the friendly staff, clean and professional environment. They didn't try to coerce me into needless diagnostic procedures and the overall price was 200- 250 dollars less than estimates from other local veterinarians. I've been using Meridian Veterinary for the past six years for my Std Poodle. They are very professional and thorough in the examinations and any instructions you need to care for my pup at home. Twice, I have had the vet call me a few days later to check on my dog to make sure they were getting better. Had to take my dog in on a Monday morning, ended up being Kennel Cough, he was already on antibiotics from an emergency vet office, instead of trying to sell me different meds, she said, let's just see if these work, if not we can go with the one we usually prescribe. By Friday, I called to take him in, he was improving, but not as fast as I thought he should. Early that day, I got a call from the vet, she had noticed my name on the schedule and wanted to know how he was doing. After talking to her, she said if I was comfortable, I could just pick up the new antibiotics.  That saved me an office visit which I really appreciated since I had just paid 227 at the other vet and the 60 for the Kennel Cough appt. Best of all, my pup actually LOVES going to the vet, they have a house cat and they give cookies, I never have to drag him in the door. Thank you, Meridian Veterinary! Read Less

I have Several pets and Dr. Higer and Dr Ecklund are My vets and Everyone there are super Nice to me and treat me Like Family and go out of their way to make me Special and they Remember My Kids and they even call the next day to check on them ! . I love them .. I have had two of my pit bulls seen by Dr Higer and Myah will only have one Dr. From now on ... he did her Acl surgery and you can't even tell she had it done. . He also did Mt littlefoot s double acl surgies and he was up walking in less then a week.. when his first surgery was not so good. . This hospital had been a blessing to me and my family.. and i tell all my clients and friends to come here! !! The staff is wonderful always makes me feel welcome. One of our neighbor boys fed our Airedale Terrier rocks. We were in a panic and took our dog to Meridian Veterinary Hospital for help. When we got into the treatment room the vet evaluated him and told us that he had 13 rocks in his stomach and that he looked like a gravel pit. He recommended starting an I.V. and keeping him over night. He said if they have to do surgery it would be pretty expensive. I asked him the costs because my wife and I are on a budget. He told us that it would be a couple hundred to keep him over night to see if he would pass the rocks and the surgery would probably be about $1000. I can afford a couple hundred($200 is what a couple means to me). The next day when I came to pickup my dog they handed me some paperwork. One of the papers was an estimate for $900. What a shock to be lied to and then they held my dog until I paid them 1/3 of the cost. I have checked with two other vets in the area and they have both said that is an outrageous cost. I got a call from Meridian Veterinary Hospital and have explained my concerns. They told me that the now $700 bill they would knock off $70 if i paid in full today otherwise they are sending it to collections. I am very unhappy with this and now they have sent me to collections for the remaining balance. Worst company and service ever. Read Less
