I will no longer recommend this location and will be looking for a new resort that cares more. This used to be my go to location for vet care, exercise, boarding and grooming. However their pet resort just cannot be trusted. My poor dog has come home multiple times with very torn paws and their staff failed to monitor as instructed. I know others with torn feet too. Management’s response is that they haven’t been able to resolve the environment and that my dog just isn’t a good fit for them. Sad accountability, especially when they tell you the next day when you call concerned that they noticed something during his bath but didn’t relay that to the owner. Management seemed more frustrated by an upset owner rather than the health of my dog. Please don’t take any dogs here that can’t run on concrete or that require observation. Read Less

Used to like this place for boarding before they jacked their overnight rates from $25 to $45! They give some BS about all the extra "services" they add on. One on one time being one of them; please other facilities charge $3/day for that service. And all my dog wants is a place to eat and sleep, she's really old. If you want to add on services make it optional! It really is too bad, we won't be back, and they used to be super convenient for us! Read Less

A bit pricey for a vetrinarian but was well worth it. Waiting room is great they have a play area to entertain the kids while our dog got all his shots and a check up. I love how they handle the animals and my favorite part is they are a no far practice. My dog felt as comfortable as he could at their office and didn't bark once at the vet or the staff. They really seem to know what they are doing. They even have plan bundles for services that our dog needed. It made it much easier to take my kids and dog to the vet on spring break which would normally be a bad experience for us but was a wonderful experience for us. Worst experience I have ever had at a vet. We were in 4 months prior for a normal exam and shots. My dog needed a booster shot, made an appointment, got the shot. When I went to pay they had additionally charged me for another exam. She said that this is their policy to give an exam (and charge for it) for shots no matter how recently we have seen the animal. On my first visit they (tried to) pressure us into buying one of their "packages". When I went in for this booster shot they tried again to sell us a package. Recently relocated to Eagle & was searching for a vet to care for 3 dogs. The receptionists at this office are top notch - kind & organized. Made it possible for all dogs to be seen on the same day. We had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Troska & in the short time we have been here, two of our dogs have needed additional care to address more complicated health issues. You don't realize how good you have it until you go somewhere else and realize how far good service and care go. I started going to River City about a year and a half ago when I adopted my first dog (who admittedly is a handful and can be aggressive) and they have always been very patient, warm, and accommodating. Since I started going to RCVH, I've moved twice and adopted another dog, so I tried going to another vet closer to my new home and it wasn't the same. I was actually disappointed with how detached and abrupt the doctor at the other place was with my docile dog and knew there'd be a problem if he treated my aggressive dog. RCVH takes their time in making sure they provide the best treatment and you understand what's going on--which makes a world of difference when your dog's health is concerned and surprisingly, is missing at most animal hospitals. Case in point, RCVH is well worth the commute for me and my pets and I won't be going anywhere else for a long time. Read Less

My puppy had an allergic reaction to a vaccination and the team at river city vet was able to get me a same day appointment to be seen. Fast forward 2 weeks and my little man had an allergic reaction to a bee sting, and once again they were able to get me in for a same day appointment! Not once did they refer me off to an emergency vet. I feel they truly care about my puppy and I love that they will see him in a pinch! River City Vet is outstanding! A few years ago our dog was sick and needed a surgery. We had a set amount that we could spend and no more. Once they started with the surgery they realized it would cost more than they thought. We couldn't pay what was required but instead of putting our young dog down, they finished the surgery and did all the post-op checkups for what we told them we could afford at the outset. We now have two new dogs and we will never go anywhere else for our veterinary care. They truly have the best interest of the animals in mind and work hard to build good, trusting relationships with the pet owners. They have certainly earned our business for life!!! Read Less

Just took my almost 15 week old puppy there today and everything was GREAT. He has an infected rash, and I loved how they went over everything with me before just doing it. They also do estimates for the pricing so you know what to expect, and don't get a huge surprise at the end. This also made me feel better spending the money that can seem like too much at times because I understood why and what it was for. I would also say their prices are very reasonable compared to others in the area. Both the wife and I have our dogs on a vet plan at ...dare I say....BANFIELD...however, it seems like they are always too busy to get a person in or the wait is prohibitive...so when our little chihuahua (female) got sick and seemed to be in need of a vet service, we were glad to find one just around the corner from where we live (within 5 miles)...so we called...were told to bring her in, was seen by the doctor within just a few minutes, he seemed to know what he was talking about, made suggestions and offered up advise....am very please with the service the professionalism as well as the courtesy and quick response we were given, we WILL be RETURNing if we ever require additional animal service. thank you RIVER CITY VET HOSP. I love taking my dogs to River City! I'm always greeted with a smile. I feel like we get truly individualized care and the staff really has an interest in helping my dogs get to their best health. I contacted these guys to do my dogs' nails after having them "groomed" at another vet the previous week. The groomer didn't do my dogs' paws or nails and these guys are close to me so I called them. They were able to get me in the same day and suggested I get one of my dogs' nails done every two weeks until the quicks were grown backwards a bit. They were quick and efficient. When I went in, the atmosphere was frazzled, like everyone was just slightly overworked. Maybe they were overbooked. I didn't get warm fuzzies. Don't get me wrong, they weren't unfriendly at all. They just weren't as welcoming as the other vet I'd gone to. Apparently they needed my dogs' vaccination records for baths (?!) Since we just moved here from out of state, we didn't have everything unpacked yet and our lame vet from back home didn't have us in their system. So we had to skip the baths. Bummer.They were quick and efficient and got us in and out fast. From the time we checked in to the time we were all done, it was about 10 minutes - not too shabby considering it was 2 dogs. One star off for pricing. It was $38 plus tip for both dog nail trims. I later found out there is a place in Eagle that will do it for $10. $38 is ridiculously steep for a nail trim. I spend a lot of money on my dogs and I don't mind doing so at all but I don't lose sight of what's reasonable - and this price wasn't really reasonable. Despite the good points here, I won't be coming back because of the pricing. Some people are fine with it, but I just don't see how they can justify that, especially considering grooming isn't their primary function or money maker. There are people who accept it and that's totally cool! I just don't happen to be one of them. Read Less

I just got a puppy a week ago (Bento) and this is my first time owning a puppy so new mama fear is in the back of my mind constantly. I had noticed that he and a soft lump on his tummy, what I googled said it was an Umbilical Chord Hernia. I contacted River City via Yelp and they answered me within the hour! When I finally had a chance to call them they knew who I was and what I was calling about and they had informed me that they had saved a spot for me to bring Bento in the very next day! How thoughtful was that!? The staff immediately fell in love with Bento the moment he walked in and they showed us the doggy daycare and let Bento meet one of the smaller dogs. Bento took to them quickly as well, giving each of the staff well deserved puppy breath kisses! When we went into our exam room our Tech was so loving a gentle with him he let her do her exa, with little complaint, the worst part for him was the stethoscope - definitely thought it would've been the thermometer! He was such a good boy, he met Dr. Harsch who was also very gentle and caring toward Bento and gave him his first shot with ease. He also explained the Hernia issue so that I could understand it for Bento's health, he didn't talk down to me which is refreshing and beneficial for a doctor and patient relationship! I've only been to one other veterinarian in the area, this was my second place I have taken my dog to. My dog didn't really know it was the vet so he wasn't on high alert which was really nice, the staff was really nice and friendly. I think the best part of the trip was meeting Dr. Harsch! I saw an employee spend 20 minutes gently coaxing a dog into the room for a bath, never pulling or forcing them. I think that's great because you never know what happens when you drop off your dog. We've been to many Boise vets over the years, and River City is our favorite. Our standard vet is Dr. Harsch, who remembers our dog and has great rapport with animals and humans. We have visited other vets within the office and always had a good experience. Our favorite things: -Open Saturday and until 7 pm weekdays. No excuses, and plenty of scheduling flexibility. -Friendly staff with good communication. If we call and talk to someone and come in later, we can expect any employee to know why we are there (no re-explaining required). -Indoor kid playground. Very nice if you have non-fur children with too much energy. -Daycare and boarding has 24/7 webcam. Our less favorite things (noteworthy, but not at all an issue):-Office is a little out of the way. -The groomer books up FAST. Set those appointments early. Read Less

I switched vets a few years ago, after receiving subpar care for my animals at another facility. I found River City Vet Hospital and knew it was the best place for my two dogs who are like my children. The staff and vets truly care about the animals in their care. We took our older dog, Rocky, to River City Vet when we first moved here in 2013. It's a bit of a drive for us, but it's well worth it. Sadly, Rocky passed away in April this year. Dr. Harsh let us say goodbye to him in the private room. It was so hard, and I could tell even Dr. Harsh took it hard. You get so attached to your fur babies, and I'm sure the staff does as well. River City has been caring for our dog since he was a puppy. They have seen him though two surgeries and have always gone above and beyond to ensure hs well being. Not only that, but my brother, who is in the military, was in the process of moving across the country with his family and cat when they had a pet emergency in the middle of nowhere. Sarh took their call, persisted through several dropped calls because of their remote location and walked them through their hardship. Who does that? I couldn't have asked for a better experience. This was the first time I had to take my dog to a Vet and I was scared of going somewhere she would have just been a patient. But not here. Everyone treated her like a queen. They loved her, took time to care for her and explain to me everything that was going on. 24hrs after leaving I was a little concerned with her progress so I called and I spoke with a nurse who put my mind at ease.
