I took my rabbit jelly bean in to be spayed a few weeks ago. The price for the whole process was definitely more than I thought it would be but I understood why and was willing to pay. Later in the afternoon they called me to inform me that they were currently performing cpr on her because she didn’t take the anesthesia well at all. I was worried sick and started grieving in fear that my rabbit was not going to make it. They later called me and informed me that she had passed... I went over immediately to pick up her carrier and to pay the bill. The vet described to me the process of what they did. Informing me that they took all the necessary steps to prep her for the procedure. How she seemed perfectly normal and fine and they made sure she wasn’t too stressed out and anxious. There was no real explanation as to how or why the anesthesia didn’t work well for her but He expressed how he felt about the situation and I could tell that they really cared and were truly sorry about her passing. He informed me that I only had to pay for the price of the medication that they used which is was only about half the price of the bill and he also mentioned how they made a piece of clay with her paw and named engraved into it. I thought that was extremely sweet of them to do that and I appreciated that very deeply. I’ve never heard of any vet clinic to ever do that. A few days later I got a phone call asking if I wanted her ashes. I was extremely happy to hear that they were going to respectfully cremate her rather than disregarding her body somewhere. When I went to go pick up her ashes I was fully expecting to pay a price for her. But they informed me that it wasn’t necessary to pay at all. This vetinary clinic was very thoughtful and sweet. Although it was my first time ever taking a pet to get spayed and although they didn’t make it, I can say that I trust this clinic to provide my pet the care they need. Read Less

We have been taking our animals to Treasure Valley Vet for well over a decade. Dr. Shackelford diagnosed our dog with an autoimmune disorder after other Vet's were baffled. He saved our dogs life, giving us many more happy years. Dr. Hondo is awesome too as are the staff. There are several who have worked there as long as we have been customers. That in itself says a lot about a place, when staff members stick around for so long. It is always clean and is in a great location that is easy to access. Read Less

They seem to really care here. They follow up with phone calls or emails to check on your babies' progress. They don't rush you out of the examination room. They are generally much cheaper than the places I've tried around the area. They also seem to not just pressure you into an expensive procedure. They consider the needs of the dog and your pocketbook. I have two dogs- one is calm as can be- you can stick him with a needle or stick a thermometer in an uncomfortable place and he won't have a fit. My other one can and will have a fit.  They accommodate both of their temperaments and are loving to both. They also are understanding when you are emotional and concerned about your little furry family members. The office is clean and welcoming.  I highly recommend this place. Read Less

When writing this review, I was surprised to see the negative comment about Dr. Hondo in regard to Avain pets. I have not had any experience similar to that negative comment. Dr. Hondo always seems to me to be very caring and knowledgeable. The emergency hospital that is very expensive (name purposely left out) even recommended Dr. Hondo for follow-up care. A review of them will eventually follow. While I can't comment on the specifics of the negative comment, all of my animals are treated by Dr. Hondo, and I am completely satisfied with the care she provides. I should note that I do take one of my dogs to a different vet that focuses on a very rare and specific condition that my dog has. However, for all other care, Dr. Hondo is the only Dr. I would ever take any of my pets to. I have found that there are very few vets in the treasure valley that can competently treat birds. Dr. Hondo is one of them. My recommendation: Go in for a consultation. If you're not happy, use someone else. Read Less

we have been going to treasure valley vet for years and years they take care of the smallest creature to the big ones. They are loveing and kind would not go anywhere else and dont know why other people do. Love they dish out in heaps. I brought my stubborn hedgehog in for a nail trim, and when she was uncooperative, the staff were very patient. They were able to take a peek at her nails and told me that they looked okay for now, and encouraged me to continue working with her so she will get more and more comfortable with her feet being touched. It was refreshing to go somewhere where they didn't push for sedating her immediately, and I was grateful that they didn't charge me for the unsuccessful nail-trim appointment. Read Less

We take our puppy and cat to them and are always treated great! The front office ladies and the aides are friendly and always treat our animals like royalty. My dog LOVES going there and my cat isn't afraid at all. They are a bit pricey, but the cost is worth the services! They have taken care of our Jack Russell Terrier for almost two years now, ever since he was a puppy. All he has needed are check-ups, vaccines, and to be neutered. When he was neutered, he began being too active and caused a moderately sized pocket of blood next to the incision site. They got us in right away and gave us a mild sedative for him to keep him relaxed until he was fully healed. Later on, we rescued a cat who had been attacked and had a LARGE abscess next to her wounds. We took her there and they tested her for leukemia and AIDS, then performed surgery and inserted a drain in her. She got it out a few days later, then got her stitches removed after a couple more days. She is now healthy and happy! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING YOUR PETS HERE!! Read Less

I won't take my pets anywhere else. In almost 9 years, we have taken a rat, a guinea pig, and dogs in there, and have NEVER had a single negative experience. The compassion and respect this competent, warm, and dedicated veterinarian shows even to a rat (which frankly is not everyone's idea of a household companion) left a lasting impression on my first visit. His staff has always been accommodating, professional, and personable. On our recommendation, our parents and our friends have taken their guinea pigs or dogs in, and have become permanent clients of the clinic and will take their pets nowhere else as long as TVAH is available. This clinic is better in terms of price than most, which is important to many of us right now, and in terms of quality, exceeds any other I have been to, which is important to ALL of us who love our pets. My poor dog decided she was more hungry for my kid's toys and various chunks of garbage than she was for her dog food. So low and behold she ended up in surgery cutting mini toys out of her gut. I did some calling around and these guys were much more reasonable than some.  To her to a pet Hospital and they gave me the hard sell and guilt trip like a I was killing my dog if I didn't let them take her right then.
