They are wonderful. They do what they can to get your pet in and seen as soon as possible and take responsibility if a problem occurs and it happens to have been even mildly their doing. Best vet ever!! My Lab has never loved going to the vet. She would stop at the door and turn around and I would have to drag her in. But not Idaho Veterinary! She gets so excited to see everyone she can hardly wait to get to the door! She drags me now!😂 She has had to have both knees replaced within a year. They took such great care of her! They even sent me text messages and pictures of her before and after surgery! It really kept my mind at ease when I had to drop her and run to get to work! They're just as expensive as everybody else out there. But they won't put a guilt trip on you about your dog or cat needing this or that to have to have it done now. I'll tell you if it can wait. The Dental Doctor for : REX was very informative about the procedure... All the people and STAFF are just really, really nice... Granny and I could not all the costs for this procedure on one payment... There was alot of concern for... REX'S health due his teeth being so bad that that the ( People at Idaho helped us with a payment plan"... We were given a high and low estimate for the (Dental Procedure) based on how many teeth were going to be taken out... All of (REX'S) teeth were removed and the low estimate never changed we were just charged the ( Low Estimate) and a sist was also removed from (REX'S) EYE... I love my vet! I never feel judged or stupid with my numerous first time puppy questions. They make me feel like my concerns are justified but also assures me that all will be well. My Son and I brought his new pet Iguana, Luna, in yesterday evening for her first official check-up. I was very pleased. Atmosphere was inviting. The front staff we very friendly and kind. When we got into our exam room the technician that saw us first was very cheerful and sweet, she had a lot of valuable information for us...she was very knowledgeable in reptile care. Very sweet lady and cheerful as well. When the Dr came in she also ( I believe it was Dr.Caldwell ) was very friendly and treated us with kindness. Very attentive. I don't even know how to put into words how amazing this place is. Dr. Calhoun has taken care of our dogs for more than twenty years and he is kind, honest, supporting and empathetic. We see Dr. Caldwell, as well. She is great. They both understand that pets are family, not just animals. We've had to euthanize several of our pets and we're allowed to stay with them as long as we need to. They also offer a nice cremation service, which we've had to use four times, but I'm not sure it's done there. The staff are kind and friendly, too. I am new to the state and was afraid to try a new avian vet. I was ecstatic to find out that they have a female bird vet because my two girls don't like men at all. Dr. Caldwell was VERY nice and extremely gentle with my Severe Miniature McCaw. I was pleased to find the costs very reasonable. I made an appointment for a checkup for my African Grey. What a great relief to find such a knowledgable, caring, and most importantly gentle, avian vet. It is about a 1 1/2 hour drive for us but well worth the trip. Thank you for the wonderful care! Our dog Gunner became extremely sick on a Sunday afternoon. We found out that his stomach had flipped and needed emergency surgery. Dr. Calhoun and his staff was amazing. We originally saw Dr. Calhoun for our German Shepherd over skin issues. He was able to put him on apoquel and for the first time in years he has been infection free and comfortable. I have been a breeder of German Shepherd Dogs for 30 years and heard about IVH through a friend after relocating to this area years ago. My first experience with the office was more than pleasant and I was particularly happy to know they offer canine reproductive services. In my 30 years in dogs, I have literally never come across a veterinary hospital as diverse (their veterinarians can treat large animals, birds, and reptiles in addition to dogs/cats!!!), knowledgeable, and compassionate about the veterinary care they offer to their clientele. So I boarded my dogs for a long weekend with them. I left my number to get text updates got 2 out of 4 days. My mom picked up my dogs was told one of my dogs snapped at the other. I noticed that my one dog has a abrasion in his leg. I called and was told that Saturday (the only day I didn't get an update) that the dogs got into a fight and if I would like to bring him in they might be able to comp me an exam. I am a vet tech for a clinic that doesn't have boarding so I told them that I will just have my doctor look at him for no charge. I can't say enough about how great they are at IVH. My family has been bringing our zoo here for over 20 years and they have been great. They treat all of our animals like they're important... from the hedgehogs to the huskies. They've hugged us through our losses and cheered with us when the animals improved. Our little two year old Schnauzer mix started having bloody, frequent urination and we were afraid to see a vet because of the cost. After seeing these reviews, I decided to bite the bullet and take him in. Dr. Calhoun was kind, friendly, professional, and very sensitive to my concern about cost. He addressed it up front, letting me know exactly what they were going to do and how much it would cost before he got started. I was shocked by how inexpensive it was compared to another vet I had seen a few years ago on 12th Avenue. The service was less than half the cost and I felt like I got way better service than the other place. And this was for a far more serious issue! Highly, highly recommended. Dr. Calhoun and his staff are one of the best Vet's I have been to. He just did surgery for artificial insemination on my Lab, and I could not be more thrilled with him and his staff. He went over and beyond. Last time my Lab was bred I went to a well known Vet in Meridian, and the entire experience was questionable, not to mention, the breeding was barely a success. Although I am not too close in proximity to Dr. Calhoun's office, I will continue going there because of his and his staffs knowledge and the way they treat their clients. Best experience I've ever had with a veterinarian and the office staff! If you want to be treated like you matter with care and true concern for your fur babies go see Dr.Calhoun and his staff at Idaho Veterinary Hospital. Even though I was a new client they got my sick baby in within hours of me calling for an appointment. I had my baby seen by two other vets before finding Dr.Calhoun and he was the only vet that got down on the ground and thoroughly examined my girl. I was amazed by his obvious love and compassion for animals, he was so reassuring and informative and made me feel like my dog was his only concern. Never did I feel rushed or that he was too busy or preoccupied to really listen to my concerns, wow what a wonderful world it is that there are still professionals that know how to treat people right!  Thank you Idaho Veterinary Hospital for reminding me that there are still great professionals out there serving others! Best vet team hands down!  I've been having my dogs treated here since I moved to Idaho in 2009 and wouldn't consider going anywhere else.  They're patient, listen to all of my wacky stories about their odd behaviors/symptoms, clearly explain treatment options and alternatives if necessary and seek feedback for improvements if needed.  We were in the office quite a bit treating diabetes, IBS, and standard check ups and have seen each Dr. (Calhoun, Caldwell, Cavendar and Burnette) and each execute with the same level of care and curiosity to find the root cause. Went for 2nd evaluation of ACL tear on German Shepherd dog. Dr. Calhoun has done hundreds of these and they offer laser therapy afterwards. After talking to him (he studied under the Vet who patented the procedure now widely used) decided to go with him.  I also compete in AKC events and Schutzhund and he attended a Pat Hastings Seminar that I was at (just to broaden his knowledge).  Staff is excellent and very caring and immediately loved my guy so we decided to have surgery here instead of West Vet.
