The doctors are great, but the front desk staff is not. Every time I've been in there they lack customer service skills. I don't think any of them know how to smile. This last go around I called to make an appointment and the lady was not helpful at all. She had a horrible attitude and only wanted to tell me what day's I couldn't get in and never bothered to tell me which ones I could. Then she said the only way I could get in is if there was a cancellation, so I asked to get on a cancellation list and she said they don't have one and I'll have to call back each morning. What kind of logic is that? It was a waste of time for sure. It's terrible because I like the doctors, but the first people you deal with are the front desk and they are usually the reason people don't go back to a business (me being one of them). Read Less

Clean, friendly establishment. Happy to have found RCAH after two other veterinarian establishments. Reason for 5 stars; My dog Chuey absolutely loves coming to the vet now. Last two visits were back-to-back. First visit he had two shots and liquid up his nose. The next day (surgery) he was super excited, starting in the parking lot. They have been my vet service for almost 6 years. Almost a year and a half ago my poodle was almost dead, she was so bad she couldnt even stand up and not due to neglect, they did an ultra sound and found out she has an autoimmune disease. They put her on medication and thanks to them I still have my baby and best friend today. I love them and recommend them to anyone. Read Less

I can't give this place enough stars. Dr Luce and his staff are remarkably the best. He's a no bs kind of guy but relays all options on the table. And he's not about the money. They start with the easiest test then go from there depending on what's going on of course. Iv dealt with 2 of my labs passing in the last few years and he's been amazing. Snoopy had to see the doctor for a strange rash that came out. Dr. Frank and his team were able to help him get fixed up in a jiffy. 2 days later the rash is definitely a lot better and swelling is all gone. Thank you so much guys for helping my pup :) He's very happy and grateful! Read Less

This place has been my vet for over a year now and I always loved them until last time I took my dog there. All they care about is making money, and could care less about your pet. We just recently took my dog in because she had a vaginal infection, a bladder infection and one of her teets were swollen. When the doc came in she prescribed a topical cream for the infection and felt the teet. After about 30 seconds she diagnosed with her with a toumor and she said she was pretty confident that it was cancerous. She was very heartless about the entire thing and we told her that this "toumor" just appeared with the infection and that is changed sizes daily. But she was adamant that it was a toumor. She left to get the estimate for how much the surgery would cost which was $600 and asked us if we wanted to schedule it. I said that I would have to wait a week to budget and that I would call them. She said ok left the room and sent her assistant in to collect a pee sample to determine if she needed oral antibiotics (even though she clear as day had an infection) my dog was very nervous and couldn't provide a sample. They said that we could bring back a sample and they would prescribe it then. So my dog was basically going to have to wait all weekend for antibiotics. We went home and started applying the cream and her teet became smaller. After the weekend I finally got the antibiotics. After one day of giving her the oral antibiotic her teet went back to normal. So I called the office manager and explained what happened, explained how the first vet I saw didn't seem to care and asked if I could come in for a second opinion. They immediately told me "yes you can but we aren't doing it for free". Ok? They told me for $50 they would see her for a second opinion (mind you the original exam with medicine was only $65 dollars) so they didn't even offer a discount. I was extremely fed up at this point. I felt that this was their mistake and they needed to make it right. I spare no expense when it comes to my dogs so this wasn't about the costs to me. I called another vet in the area. I didn't tell them what was going on asked them their price they said $55 for a new patient. I schedule an appointment for the next day. He felt her teet and couldn't find a growth at all. I then told him what the previous vet said so he felt again. After about 10 minutes he assured us that he had no reason to believe it was cancer or that she even had a growth. So what would have happened if I had scheduled the surgery and the first vet cut my dog open for no reason? Would they have given me a refund? Would they have lied and said they did remove a growth that wasn't even there? And all along my dog would have gone through an unnecessary surgery? I know that misdiagnoses can easily happen. But this vet did not care about us or my dog. All she wanted was for us to schedule the surgery. She didn't care that this dog means the world to us and is my sons best friend. All we were to her is a customer. And the clinic that employs her only cared about their bottom line rather than caring for their customers. I will never take my pets there again. Read Less

A few years ago I took my pregnant kitty to them because while giving birth two kittens became stuck in her birth canal together and she couldn't push them out. I didn't have the $700 they wanted upfront to help her so they handed her back to me with a dead kitten hanging out of her. I took her elsewhere and she made it but the kittens all died. Highly recommend these these guys really got their a game on, they know what's going on, they know what's up and they have saved so many of my pets through the years so many times I do dog rescue and Rehabilitation and train people, and when I Rescue an animal I always take them there for immediate well check-ups and overall well-being they've helped me for many many years I highly recommend dr. Bryan Luce and dr. Frank Clovis they are the two of the top well Studied vets in terms of veterinary medicine in my opinion... they really know their field and I am aware that there are people that drive all the way from Montana just to see these two men for their Animals because of their track record and the work that they are able to accomplish with these animals. Theirability is nothing short of amazing I highly recommend them. the facility is clean they always find a way to work you in if your schedule is not acomidating they're always willing to work with you no matter what in my opinion. As I mentioned I do dog rescue my last little Doberman that I rescued they were I save him he has absolutely no immune system whatsoever and they were able to help him. Read Less

The staff and the doctor were very kind, helpful, and professional. My dog needed attention right away, even though it wasn't an emergency, my vet's office was closed. So I called River City Animal Hospital, and I received the most welcoming answers to my concerns about my dog, and they took my her in on that Saturday, and were very kind and thorough, expedient in resolving her painful issue and her medical intervention. I love this place. Dr. Luce is probably my favorite vet we have ever had. He is caring and tells you what should be done but doesn't pressure you to do anything. We have a dog and two cats. I really love him because he has cats as well and understands more about what goes on in the day to day life of a cat than many vets who only own dogs. We had gone to another vet for about two years (since we moved here) and after we switched we found out that both of our cats had teeth that where broken and incredibly painful. The x-rays made me want to cry. It also made mad because no one at the other vet EVER said anything about their teeth to us. So not both of them only have front teeth and canines. Since we got their teeth done you can tell they are so much happier and they are eating more. I can not recommended this place enough! Read Less

We used to think they were the best vets around. Have been taking our pets there for 10 years. The last three visits, however have changed that. Long, long wait times, some of the staff seem to be overwhelmed. Our last visit they kept our arthritic dog in a cage all day. They were going to put him out and check his ears, look at his back and hips for a full exam, and clip his nails. They only did the nails, and one was clipped into the quick and bleeding. To add insult to injury they charged us a boarding fee. WTF?! They have gotten really busy, and the quality of care and treatment of pets is declining. They charged us $80 for the "services". I can get my pet's nails clipped in 10 minutes for a fraction of that price. The dog is suffering with stiffer legs than when we took him in. Read Less

Went to this vet because my cat was scratching horribly, asked if it's ear mites or fleas. They said no to both and gave me an antibiotic for a theoretical infection. Well it didn't help, and despite what they told me, he does have fleas, so they obviously didnt check. And my poor cat had to go 10 more days without relief because i stupidly trusted this vet and went with the antibiotic. i should have gone with my first instinct. They are incompetent, and the whole time it felt like they were flying by the seat of their pants. This is my first time dealing with fleas, and yet I was the one who was able to diagnose the problem, not the vet. Useless, absolutely useless. And on top of that, the receptionists were nothing but rude to me the whole time. I would never recommend this vet clinic to anyone, not even to my worst enemy!!! Read Less

I would absolutely recommend this place based on service, pricing, honesty, and overall compassion. My husband and I recently rescued a dog that had pretty bad teeth. Her top k9 teeth were in very bad shape, one was completely dead and the tip was broken the other was starting to die but in ok shape. Well she broke the "good" one on Christmas and it was causing a bit of pain for her. So I took her and my other dog in for a complementary dental quote. I figured both dogs would need a teeth cleaning and the one dog would need her two teeth pulled. The vet examined both dogs and was very straight forward with me. He told me that the one dogs teeth were in great shape and he wouldn't even bother with having them cleaned. I really appreciated this because he could have very easily gone ahead and booked the appointment and charged me, but instead he thought about what was best for my dogs. I went ahead and scheduled the surgery for my dog with the broken tooth. Also my dog was VERY scared and they were so awesome with her. They changed their normal tactics of taking your dog, you leave, they give your dog the sedative, and put them in the cage to fall asleep. Instead they took my husband back with her, let him cuddle her while they gave her the shot, and he left when she was in lala land. Last but not least the after care was amazing! They made sure to call us and check on our dog after surgery. They made sure that she was eating, sleeping, and had no signs of infection. My dogs are very much a huge part of our family, and I would pay whatever necessary for them to be healthy and happy. That being said at no point did I feel like I was taking my dog to a place that just wanted to profit from me. I felt like they truly cared about the wellbeing of my dogs. Read Less

We've been dog owners for over 15 years and have been to a dozen clinics in 3 different states and these guys are the gold standard for pet hospitals. Both docs are great, always very professional, and friendly and are straight shooters. They've always been very reasonable with prices and always give us all options and allow us to ultimately make the decision without pressuring us in spending money we really don't need to. We brought our dog here after being robbed by other vets in town. This place is welcoming and nicely maintained. You can tell the doctors are passionate with animals and the price is reasonable. The major difference is the dental care. We received a quote from our neighborhood vet for $500+ dental cleaning. This place only charged us for $235 for the same service. After the dental cleaning, our dog's teeth looked way better than before and the breath was a lot more acceptable. She was not able to chew on stuff before and she can actually bites something after the cleaning. We are pretty happy with it! Read Less

Not such an awesome experience for us. We took our Yorkie in for dental work and after the dental work she started coughing. We took her back and they gave her something for the cough but she is still coughing. Now we are told she either has an infection or a collapsing trachea none of which she had prior to the dental work. And...it cost us to have her treated. Every single person on the staff is very kind. We had to put our dog, so being there under those circustances you can imagine how we felt. The room was very comfortable and it kept our dog at ease because it didn't have the animal hospital feel you can often find at other places. The doctor was amazing and was kind enough to explain the whole process to us, so there wasn't any unanswered questions when we left. We will continue to use this vet for our future doggies as well.
