I had to take our gerbil to Pope Animal Hospital today, thinking we may have to have him euthanized. Dr. Jones was so helpful and caring and was able to treat our pet for pneumonia. She did such an excellent job handling him and making sure we knew what to do to help him get better. Everyone was so nice and friendly, and I also felt the cost for the visit and treatment was beyond reasonable! I would highly recommend Pope! So thankful to have found them today! Read Less

Dr. Pope is money hungry. Took our bearded dragon here on a Monday and were seen by Dr. Kelly, who was exceptional, but our beardie didn't make it through the night. I called the next morning to cancel his future appts and to let them know not to order the medication he was going to need later in the week that I had to PREPAY for. The receptionist told me that Dr. Pope will NOT be refunding the money I prepaid for the medication they were going to order. So now, I'm out $130 for the office visit and exam and 68$ for a medication I don't need and hasn't even been ordered yet!! I'm damn sure going to be up there this Friday to pick up this medication I don't need, but I paid for it, so it better be there. Read Less

My grandma dog went in for a check up the next day he passed away because of a tumor on his heart. My grandma had no knowledge of this and asked the doctor what the problem was while she was there for the check up. Then just today my boyfriend took their dog to see of he had worms week ago and the doctor confirmed he was fine. Today found worms in his stools. Not impressed that this keeps happening to animals. Took Lucy our newly adopted 3yrs old African Grey in for her first vet visit. It was also my first time visiting. Could not have been more pleased with Dr Jones and the staff. I just had the worst experience of my life putting my 16 year old dog down. They were amazing with this whole process, the compassion and understanding were beyond anything I would have expected. Yes, some hard decisions have to be made ,and yes it isn't always free, but they let you know where you are at financially , with the quality of life of your pet always being priority. I just don't think I could have asked for a better environment to have to go through this hellacious thing for the first time.. Worst Place to take your animal if your looking for a vet that cares about the animal first and for most. Went in with 55 bucks on me at the moment and was told after sitting there for half hour that My dog needed some $75-85 medicine i asked if they could bill me and was told no i said then forget and told em to lose my paperwork, Guess what they learned how to bill even thou they never helped our family and want $45.00 on top of having such a horrible experience to begin with. I had a heart breaking loss of a pet this past week and I've never dealt with a vet that handled it as well as pope animal hospital. They talked me thru everything. I had no idea that they could send a pet to a funeral home and gent funeral home was just as wonderful too me. I even got a card in mail today. Someone abandoned a pit bull on my street. Took it to pope to have rabies shot and check up. Wife got a 51 dollar quote. After leaving the bill was $125. I will pay for my dogs I have two. But he didn't even touch my dog and was charged for a check up. What does a check up consists of if he never touched my dog. I held him while he gave him a shot. After reading some reviews I see what folks are saying... I also am not from here I'm from little Rock Arkansas. So I also needed a vet and this place popped up. Pope has been our go-to vet for many years now. They have amazing, kind staff and they're so genuine. My dog that I took there today (out of the 6 we have taken there) wasn't doing well at all and we weren't sure why or if we had any options. We got there early, about 35 minutes early. I left my mom in the car with our dog and went in and explained that he really needed to be seen and we were early. One of the employees opened a room right up for us to bring him into. We laid him down and were immediately helped. Sadly, our poor dog didn't make it. We turned around for a second and he had a bloody nose and had stopped breathing. The vet tech then called immediately for a veterinarian and they took him to the back to an ultrasound machine or something along the lines of that to look for a heartbeat. He was gone, and we were crushed. The Vet and her assistant then gave my mother and I hugs and didn't make us pay a dime. I love Pope and plan on always taking my dogs there. Read Less

My fiance and i had to make the difficult decision to have our pet ferret euthanized. We were devastated but we knew it was his time. The staff members were amazing with us and our little boy Yuki. My fiance and i were worried he wouldnt make it in time to say goodbye but they were more than willing to wait for him and to give us plenty of time to say our goodbyes. Dr. Jones made sure we knew what would be done and talked us through everything. She was just as amazing as the rest of the staff. Thank you Pope Animal Hospital for all you did for us and our boy. We took our rabbit here for a nail trim, this morning. The exotics vet they have is phenomenal. He was giving her a hard time because he is not, by any means, a small rabbit, but she was patient and careful with him. She is apparently a rabbit owner herself and was very kind to us. I'm not sure which employees people are referring to in the terrible reviews on here...the women at the front desk were fine to us, and the vet tech who helped hold our bun for a while was very sweet. The price was understandable for an exotic pet visit, and everyone was much nicer here than they are at Hawthorne. I fully intend to keep bringing all of my pets here. I recently took my two dogs in for their annual physicals. I must say I was very disappointed. It was the first time my dogs have been seen by Dr. Pope. He listened to their heart and lungs for all of 10 seconds. He didn't even look at their coats, teeth, or ears. He said they were doing just fine. I'm not sure how he could tell this in the three minutes he was in the room with us. I will say I adore the other staff at the office. I've been taking my animals here for years and I've always felt like they were very well taken care of. Dr. Pope is the best, however some of the younger doctors I've had there more recently haven't been the most informative or skillful. But still, everyone there is very helpful and friendly, especially the techs and front desk. Toni is great! I like that I can call and ask anything and I'm always given advice and I've often gotten last minute or walk in appointments which is nice since I'm a busy mom. I took my new kitten there for the first time and the kitty was having multiple problems, ear mites, dietary issues, booster shots, etc. My new kitty is a $1200 dollar show cat and I had a lot of questions on how to take care of him, and what to do to get the maximum benefits for his health, shiny coat, what not to feed him, he had bad diarrhea, his premium food i was told to feed him was too rich. Anyway, he didn't rush me took the time to answer all my questions and was very informative. He even showed me how to clean the cats ears so I wouldn't have to pay $21.00 every time I needed it done.
