Back in March or April, 2016 I had brought my new cat, Blizzard to you for medical care. Blizzard was a rescue and we wanted to give him a great home. He was the most loving, beautiful cat that deserved to have a second chance.Dr. P. looked at him and told us he had ear mites and bacterial infections in his ears. He had a very nice coat and certainly worthy of treating and helping him get a second chance. Medication for ear mites was given to Blizzard. The medicines prescribed to Blizzard were not helping him. So I had to bring him back for more care and different medicines. Still Blizzard was not responding to the medicines and I brought him back again and Dr. Storslee said a culture was needed. The culture came back and she prescribed medicine for general bacteria and yeast. Still nothing helped and I called in and I was recommended to see another vet who was very nice and considered by your staff as the "cat vet". She looked at Blizzard and said we'll clean out his ears again. At this point, Blizzard was in good to fair condition. The vet techs cleaned out his ears as asked of them and when I brought him home immediately after the ear cleaning I noticed Blizzard was meowing loudly and when I took him out of his carrier, he began to walk in circles continually. Then I noticed he seemed confused and distraught and started walking into the walls. I called Antioch Animal Hospital and talked to the vet and she told me he was walking in circles because he was constipated. He was NOT constipated and I could plainly see he had suddenly gone blind. She asked that I bring Blizzard back right away and I did and Dr. Garvey confirmed he was blind.NOTE THAT BLIZZARD'S BLINDNESS AND DECLINE STARTED IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR VET TECHS CLEANED OUT HIS EARS. I KEEP ASKING TO THIS DAY WHAT THEY DID TO BLIZZARD WHEN THEY CLEANED OUT HIS EARS. NO ONE WOULD TELL ME.I brought Blizzard home, and as the vet asked me to do, I put him in a quiet place within a large cage and made him comfortable. He just kept circling and finally he fell over and laid down. From there he could not walk and appeared to have no feelings in his back legs. Next he began to howl and meow in sudden pain and then he began to seize. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE PAIN AND ANGUISH BLIZZARD WAS EXPERIENCING, EVER. I still cry when I think back to him and the medical trauma he experienced. I called your vet clinic to tell them I have an emergency with Blizzard and that he was seizing and they said "we can't see him, bring to the emergency veterinarian clinic". So, I told the clinic he won't make it to the ER Vet clinic, please help Blizzard and again they told me the same thing to bring him to the ER Vet. I rushed him to the ER veterinarian clinic in Grays Lake, and by the time I got him there and the ER vet looked at him, he was almost dead, just as I thought might happen. He declined so quickly. He had no feelings in his rear legs and just laid flat and was paralyzed. The ER Vet told me it is possible Blizzard had polyps in his ears causing all of the ear infections and they may have burst after his ears were cleaned out by Antioch Animal Hospital vet techs. But this could not be confirmed without an MRI or CAT Scan but he wouldn't make it.We had no hoice but to give Blizzard immediate peace and euthanize him which we did promptly. My daughter, my husband were with me and to see a little 7-year old girl so upset with this whole situation is beyond description. I've e-mailed Dr. P at Antioch Animals Hospital, called and now writing to you to review Blizzard's medical case. What did your vet team do to Blizzard that caused him to go blind, be paralyzed and then to be euthanized quickly? What happened? No one will tell me and I have not heard from you. All I get is to contact the office manager, which by the way I did, and got ignored too. A lot of money was spent but I don't care about the money. I just want to Antioch Animal Hospital to be honest and tell me what went wrong.I will eventually forgive them, but will never forget this event. This story has been sent for Blizzard's sake and hopefully prevent something like this from happening to other cats at this clinic. Read Less
