Dr. Gould was lucky that I had 3 of my Pug's with me and I couldn't go to jail that day...I was expecting Dr. Roth and got that lump of coal...6 months ago she demanded to do surgery on one of my Pug's and I told her no that she couldn't have surgery because of accident years ago...She then said that she would die if I wouldn't allow her to do the surgery right then...I told her no again but promised to bring her back next day for another ultrasound...The next day I had dentist appointment in DeKalb so daughter Kim took her...I got a call from Kim, she told me that Dr. Gould wanted her to leave her because it was gonna be a couple of hours and Kim told her no that she would wait...Then Gould came out with a paper and wanted Kim to sign it for permission to do surgery...Kim called me and I told her hell no and I was on my way...I told Gould under no circumstances was she operating on her...She said, I went to school for years to learn how to do my job...I told her, yea I drank a lot of year's at the Pour House doesn't mean I know how to make booze...I took my Pug to Champaign University Hospital and let them do the surgery... Anyway the reason I wanted to break her face was...I had taken one of my Pug's into see Dr. Roth who is a very good Vet, she treated her for an eye ulcer...I was to bring her back the following week...The following week I called to see if I could bring 2 more in at the same time, one for Rabie shot and one for antibiotic for jaw...So I had all 3 in there and instead of Dr. Roth, I get the lump of coal...After she was finished with the Pug's she said" Did we clean Vader's teeth"...I told her I don't think so, I know you did the females but Vader was going through his medical problem then...I told her the groomer brushes thier teeth every month really good...Now Vader just got a shot that day and she never opened his mouth and looked at his teeth but the stupidest thing came out of nowhere...She said well I would suggest a scaling but he's too old, he's past his expiration date all these dog's are...Who Says that kind of stuff? Someone that wants thier face punched in that's who...If that was the case then why have I paid thousands and thousands of dollars in Vet bills to keep THEM healthy...You sure got your share...It was not. Easy to walk away from the lump of coal...I chalked it up to the fact that I wouldn't let her do surgery and I was right the Dr's. in Champaign said she was all stuck together on the inside...No way would my Pug had survived Ashton... This was our second year in a row taking our cats to Ashton and it will probably be the last as we are moving anyway. I guess this is an mediocre vet if you are just taking them in for a routine exam and some shots. I would not trust and feel comfortable at this vet with any moderate to severe health problems for animals. The doctor we have had is condescending and uncompasionate. I would be ok with a veterinarian not liking humans but this one doesn't even seem to like... animals or at least cats. The only thing they seemed moderately concerned about is that our cats could lose a few pounds. Ok sure they could, I could too. However, they seemed to care little to nothing at one of our cat's behavioral issues that makes her rip out her own fur among other things. When giving a shot to this special needs kitty, the doctor accidently "nicked a capillary" , now accidents happen I understand, however again ZERO compassion or concern. In closing, I would say Ashton vet is like a mall cop. They are ok for very minor issues but eventually you are gonna want and or need the A team. See More Read Less

We've been taking our pets to the Ashton Animal Clinic (previous Doc McEniry) for many years. We have been very happy with ALL of the services provided and unlike the review of Mr. Messer, we have NOT felt that the price of services is out of line. We feel that our beloved pets are given the best of care and ALL of the staff truly cares about our pets - giving them care just like they would give their own pets. My experience at Ashton Animal Clinic has been wonderful. Although I had to euthanize my 15 year old cat, Baby Girl, due to cancer, I want to say that I was treated with the most wonderful gift of compassion by the vet on staff as well as the assistant. Losing a pet is never something we want to face. With exemplary care and compassion, my Baby Girl left this world in dignity. I highly recommend this Animal Hospital to all. Read Less

I have been taking my pets here since 1998 when I got my two Chihuahuas. They have had their care right to the end. One passed from cancer in 2013 and my last baby passed from old age this July. They have always given excellent care with both wellness visits and emergencies. We have a 3 year old Chihuahua now and I am sure they will take good care of him as well. Read Less

Dr Heather saved my dogs life! It was a Sunday Morning at 5 am and Marley couldn't walk, was shaking, and acting as if she had a stroke. I called Dr Heather, she met us immediately, began testing, took her overnight and kept in contact with us throughout the day and night. My dog had been going there since he was a puppy with the previous vet..Went In there shortly after they took over with a question regarding my dog and his end-of-life care and their business manager was rude and wouldn't let me ask a quick question of the new vet... Groomer did a piss poor job. Left my dog in a cage for over 3 hours. Groomer blamed us for bringing him in late when we were told to bring him in at the time. Told us ifwe didn't like it we could come get our dog. We told him fine we would do that and not to groom our dog. He did a rush job leaving divits in his hair some spots down to the skin. I would like to thank Dr. Gould and the staff for their support during our hard time this past Sunday. We had to put our Boston Terrier ( Gunny ) to sleep, as he was having continuous seizure's, and couldn't get out of them. Dr. Gould came in on Sunday, and helped us say goodbye to my best friend and companion. We will miss him and keep him in our hearts daily.
