Best Vets and Staff Around! Dr Probst has been my vet for over 10 years for my dogs, cats and even drove my goat to him in my van when he was at the other location when I needed him. This Dr was a farm vet, now small animal clinic Dr, that has hands on experience with many species and scenarios that small animal Drs just don't have. His experience can't be learned through text books and labs. His surgical experience is best hands down. If you have a bully breed or short nose breed, this clinic has a lot of experience with a brachycephalic dog when it comes to anesthesia. I trust no others clinics around here for my French Bulldogs. I can't say enough about Drs Love for animals. All he wants to do is help your loved family pet, no matter the species. If you have concerns about your pet after surgery, you just need to call. All animals handle pain in different ways. Some may need pain meds for couple days but then they are typically up and moving around well, then others are pretty good the next day. Huge difference in pain between a female spayed, or a male neutered. You also must check the box on the surgery form to request pain meds for an additional fee. This clinic gives you options... and it's not always the most expensive one they offer.... If I could give this "hospital" zero stars, I would. My husband took our perfectly healthy kitten here to have her front claws removed because our other cat has hers removed. THEY KILLED MY CAT!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!!!! Their idea of rectifying the situation was paying for her cremation and making a donation to some Veterinarian society. That doesn't change the fact THEY KILLED MY CAT. That is something that is worth more than a donation. She was a member of our family. Your doctor killed her. They took amazing care of baby Chihuahua named Faye, providing her with all of her vaccines, deworming, and heart guard. They treated her like the little princess she is and made me trust them even more. Waiting was never a major issue as it is with most other animal hospitals. I would only use Belvidere for baby animals but once they get old enough I would recommend seeking out a private vet closer to home or one that would come to your house. Dr. Probst truly loves animals. He is an awesome vet who treats you and your pet like family. He always gives the best care. He has saved a couple dogs I love. I trust him with my fur babies lives. I bought a 10 week old puppy from Furry Babies. I was told I had to use Belvidere Animal Clinic  for shots and checkups. Got my puppy on a Wed. was at the vet on that Friday and then that Monday and then called on Tuesday to say he wasn't doing so good with eating and just wanted to sleep and wasn't playing. The reception told me that I can change his dry food if I wanted. REALLY!!! So on that following Sat. I took my puppy to a ER Vet because he was very very sick. He has severe pneumonia and is on Oxygen still. When I went to get my medical records from Belvidere the vet wanted to talk to me and he asked me if the girl at the front desk asked me if I should bring him. I told him no and he said how sorry he was because she should have. On the notes she wrote on my chart it didn't say anything other then changing food.If they would have told me to bring him in the little guy wouldn't be in the hospital right now. Then the lady called me the next day to see how he was and I told her that we put him on a bland diet and he liked the food. The girl asked if he's still taking his meds and I told her that he is but didn't get his second one yet today. It wasn't that time yet. So she put in my notes that I stopped giving him his med. No that wasn't what I said. So because of that Furry Babies won't pay anymore for his vet bills. Which that will b taken to court. The puppy was put on the meds on August 5th. He had one day left of meds. That isn't why he is in the hospital still. It's because they never told me to bring him in to be checked. A girl who answers the phone isn't suppose to give medical advice to owners of the pets. I WILL SAY NEVER GO TO THIS VET! THEY DONT KNOW HOW TO TREAT! WORSE VET EVER! We have been using Dr. P since my morkies were 10 weeks old. and we love him. To say that he doesnt have compassion is a LIE! This guy loves my dogs and they him, and we love him. They get us in one my mischievous morkie, Chibby, gets into stuff he shouldnt, even if I call and its close to closing time, he waits for us. I recently decided to try this vet. They were terrible. Not ONE person even smiled at me and the vet assistant literally had a scowl on her face the ENTIRE time. Neither the vet, nor any of the employees spoke to my dog or pet him or did anything to put him at ease. He has serious anxiety with vets and I was hoping to find a compassionate, knowledgeable vet. During his nail clipping (he was doing REALLY well) he nipped at her once, she then muzzled him – incorrectly- which allowed him to shake the muzzle off. So she immediately gave up but still charged me for a full nail clipping. She refused to clip my dog’s nails unless sedated from now on because "my hands are my livelihood". So, she’d rather put my dog’s life at risk sedating him rather than learn how to work with a dog with anxiety…nice. She then told me (or rather scolded me) to cut his food to 2/3 a cup a day because he was overweight (I feed him 1 cup a day of the best holistic food money can buy) but then prescribed him 2 ½ cups a day of high fat food for his struvite crystals…um…that makes no sense (which by the way would cost me over $150 a month). I googled it and turns out dogs naturally have struvite crystals in their urine and all that needs to be done is add more H2O and Vit C to their diet. Now, logically, if a dog is overweight wouldn’t that be the better option???? Needless to say, if you decide to go into animal care you should at least show your patients some compassion. Also, I paid DOUBLE what I paid at previous vets. They were rude, immediately argumentative and condescendingly judgmental. I will NOT take my dog back there and would not recommend them to anyone who expects to be treated with dignity and care by their vet. Absolutely disappointed with this vet. Read Less

Absolutely amazing! Had to have my dog spayed while she was in heat, it was a difficult procedure but circumstances made it nessasary. The vet was so understanding and genuinely cared. The entire staff was wonderfuk, after my worried calls they even sent me a picture of her happy and wagging her tail to help ease my nerves! Above and beyond! I've been getting my cats flea medicine from them since my cat was a kitten. On Thursday I took my cat in to be neutered and the female doctor took one look at me and acted like I couldn't pay for the surgery!! She made me feel so horrible!! I haven't been able to get my cats flea medicine since November, money got tight. Again she made me feel bad cause I haven't gotten his medicine but I did get it while he was there for his surgery! Just because I wear jeans and a t shirt don't make me a bad pet owner!! Then the female nurse was rude as well! She was mean to my cat and to me as well, she was very stuck up, the doctor as well!! I will not be going there anymore that's for sure!! I'll take my business else where. They don't care about your pets and there health just your money!! Read Less

Dr. Probst was not a help at all. He could not give us a definite answer of what was wrong with her. He could only tell us of what "could" have been wrong with her. He was simply guessing what we could have guessed on our own. We payed money to find out what was wrong with her and we were not helped at all. He did not seem to care for our dog, and neither did the nurse. He was extremely insensitive asking about our first dog.
