Switching to the doctors at Grace was the best decision we've made. Our dog recently had a mass removed from her side, when we thought something was wrong the doctor herself called us back and went over everything with us. Dr. Minder was recommended to us by the Helping Paw Project when we adopted one of our dogs. We have been extremely pleased with the care and service we've received since then. Luckily we haven't had any extremely sick dogs but any times we have had any concerns he has been quick to call us back and reassure us. If he thinks the dog needs to be seen he'll say so, but otherwise he's honest and straightforward and doesn't charge more than necessary. The best part of all is that he truly cares about all of the animals in his care and is calm and reassuring even when our canines are crazy and nervous about being on a leash and somewhere new. Highly recommend! We used the walk-in clinic in Virden & Dr Minder felt our 11 yr old mini Aussie had congestive heart failure so we followed up at the Chatham office for additional tests & even though that's the case, Dr Minder took the time to explain the x-rays & show us on the x-rays how they could tell & start a plan to keep Tobi's quality of life. Been going here over a year now with an elderly rescue dog who had multiple issues and with the help of Dr Minder, his staff and now the excellent addition of Dr Reed our dog is doing wonderful and has become the best addition to my life after losing my mother and father 7 mos apart. Our sweet Sophie calms and cheers me up on a daily basis and I know some vets who would have said just put her down when we got her. Very saddened by the lack of care when we called for our extremely sick dog to be seen. Told we had to wait for a week for appointment. Told Dr would call us and have yet to hear from him. We called and got him into Capital Illini immediately and found he had tumor in abdomen and was pooling blood. Would die within 24-48 hours if not taken care of. Absolutely excellent. I have been bringing my three dogs to Dr. Minder for the last 5 years, and he and his staff are the pinnacle of professionalism and compassion. I have used other vets, and they pale in comparison to Dr. Minder and his staff, in terms of their combination of overall knowledge of animals, their ability to interact with the animals, and their ability to treat me and my wife as valued customers. They always have a positive and caring attitude, and listen to us and address all our questions and concerns while being respectful of other customer's needs. Like any veterinarian, vet services are just simply expensive. Grace is no exception to that general rule. With vet services, the saying "you get what you pay for" couldn't be any more true. I've gone to inexpensive vets who tended to be rushed, rude, and generally uncaring. I've also seen (but never been to) vet offices that go way beyond what owners actually need (in my opinion) offering all kinds of impractical diagnostic services that are extremely expensive, and then guilting owners to get them to financing a $2,000 procedure, when it is clearly best to just make the dog comfortable and let him pass away naturally. I've observed that Grace falls right into the middle of this, and they have always been reasonable about costs they charge me; I've never felt nickel and dimed. When our dog got sick and was nearing toward her end, Dr. Minder thoroughly went through all the options of her treatment, the risks, the financial cost of the different options, and the various alternatives we could pursue. When we chose to make her comfortable and "see how it goes," he didn't judge us in any way, and supported our decision. He and his staff did a great job comforting us when we needed it, and when our dog finally passed away, they were very compassionate and courteous. Overall, Dr. Minder and Grace Veterinary Clinic is probably the best professional services providers I've worked with, including medical doctors, attorneys, financial planners, etc. His balanced approach of being caring and compassionate while still being professional and having encyclopedic clinical knowledge of animals has always impressed me every time I've interacted with him. I will certainly continue to use him and definitely recommend him to anyone with an animal who is looking for vet services. Truly worthy of 5 stars. Read Less
