I have been two American Pitbull terriers that I have been taking to the Animal Medical Center for the past 4 years. You just walk in for service no appointments needed. Appointments only for surgeries. The wait can sometimes be very long but the people don't seem to mind because the service is excellent and the prices are low. This vet and their staff is amazing. I have been bringing my pets to her since I was a little girl. My husband and I will continue to bring our pets for as long as her doors are open. I have had multiple pets who have had to have surgeries over the years and, she is the only person I trust to do it. It is not just about the money for her. I don't think most people know but she works with the Humane Society. I found out about 10 years ago, she works closely with rescue groups and she has special needs animals in the back that her loving staff cares for who would otherwise have horrible lives or not be alive. My bill is NEVER as much as I research that it should be... I don't know what we would do if her business were not around. It is true that if you come, you have to wait, just like you would if you went to a human walk-in clinic. It is 1st come 1st serve and her staff is not idol. So, expect to wait... but there is a reason everyone waits. It is worth it. You never leave with unanswered questions because you feel like she rushed you out too fast. IN ADDITION, she is versed in small pets as well and has a staff member who specialized in them. That is not horribly common. Read Less

I brought my 12 week old bully, yoshi in to get his ears cropped Saturday, sept 2. The cut was done well, but the stitching was far less than satisfactory. When I brought him home the next day I noticed one ear stitched tighter than the other, but I didn't think too much into it. The post-op instructions were to "blot the ear dry as it oozes" and "keep them dry" we followed instructions until Wednesday, when we noticed the same ear that had the loose stitching was looking ...a little infected. We applied Neosporin from then on. By Friday, the ear was no longer being held together by the stitches whatsoever and clearly infected. I called sauk village animal center and voiced my concerns over the phone. I was told what I was seeing was "part of the healing process" when I questioned further, I was told "we've been doing this for 30 years, it's normal" I was not given the offer to bring him in to be checked out, my concerns were snubbed. I immediately got off the phone and called my local animal clinic (hobart) Even though they no longer do cropping, they told us to bring him immediately. Our yoshi had infections in both his ears and had to be sedated, again, to fix the mistake of sauk village animal center. After spending almost $300 at sauk village, I spent another $300+ to fix their carelessness. Sauk village should be embarrassed and ashamed of what they put our pup through. I took my cat in cause he was peeing blood and I get there they take my name and pets name and wait for the doctor for an hour. Then the receptionist tells me the doctor can't see my cat cause she's going on vacation tomorrow! So I had to leave for another animal hospital! Also I took my cat to be groomed there and he would come back with cuts on him because they were not careful enough grooming him! Read Less

The doctor is great. She's attentive and detailed during your visit. I board often and have never had any problems or concerns. Prices are reasonable. They get busy and could use additional staff at the check-in desk. But it's certainly worth the wait. I like boarding my dog at a place that has his doctor on site. If your pet is missing shots, they can take care of that for you in addition to boarding and grooming. Read Less

Dr. Kim has always been very kind to my pets and honest about their health care needs. There is no upsell of products or vaccinations. She truly cares about the health needs of each individual pet and really takes the time to go over everything with you. No appointments are necessary which is nice. If you have to wait, it's only because she is taking such great care to the pet ahead of you. I would recommend her to anyone. She has a heart of gold and is not in it to make money. Dr. Kim is awesome! Down to earth & old school. Dr. Kim's concern are the animals, not some fancy painting on the wall that you have to pay for. She answers the phone herself. There are no appointments. Its first come, first serve, unless of course an emergency comes in. I don't know how she puts in all the hours she does. If your looking for a cat, go there. Dr Kim has a lot of cats & kittens that she herself has rescued, mended, & fixed herself. My animals adore her. She gets down on the floor to treat them. The little ones go up on the treatment table) She also has many items for sale for your best friend, or you. Pet smell candles (they work great!) sprays, ID tags, some clothes, some food. If your looking for fancy, this isn't the place for you, but Dr Kim's prices reflect that. She's kind to animals & also kind to people too. No rip off here. She keeps her prices down because she's a hands on lady that does most everything herself. And for that, sometimes you just have to take a seat & wait! Read Less

Prices are great, I agree they are understaffed but they are a non profit organization, so you cant really complain! they do this out of the kindness of their heart to save animals and home them. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I cannot emphasize this enough. I have taken my cat here a few times and I regret ever putting my cat through such ordeals. My cat would always come back with cuts on her and, not knowing any better, I would just assume that it was commonplace when shaving the cat. I would rationalize the cuts that I believed were the results of my cat moving around. It was only when I took my cat to another place to get bathed that it was brought to my attention that my cat had been treated horrifically at the hands of these people. For those of you reading this in an attempt to help you make the decision of where to take your pet, I urge you to go elsewhere and allow this establishment to fade from the memory of pet owners everywhere. If you love and care for your pet, please do not make the same mistakes I did and take your beloved pet elsewhere. In addition, I noticed that the owner of the business actively reads and responds to the less than spectacular reviews of the business. Therefore, I would urge you, the owner, to save your time writing a response to this review and spend more time on what can barely be referred to as an "Animal Medical Center." Read Less

I used this place on two occasions, the first my dog needed a tooth extracted. I went in expecting to get an exam first obviously so that the doctor could look at my dog etc. everything was very informal, the doctor was just like yeah ok drop him off at this time I'll take it out. Didn't even look at my dog or anything! They do their dentals overnight? So I asked to call me when he woke up from anesthesia and of course they never did even though I said they didn't care what time it was. The second Time other dog needed vaccines, the doctor never saw my dog, the technician did everything. No vitals or anything. The tech even vaccinated him for Rabies, which the doctor is supposed to do. When I went to pay they were charging me for an exam so I had to ask to take it off because no one ever examined my dog. I had to call over and over for a week after to get my dogs heart worm and fecal results. I wouldn't recommend going here, it's dirty and outdated. It smells so bad, I don't care what fancy bacteria filtration system you have - it doesn't substitute for regular cleaning. It's cheaper than everywhere else - yes, but you can't put a price on quality service! Read Less

I don't know if some people reviewing here are reviewing the right place,giving 4 and 5 stars is absurd.  I have now been there twice,and I will never go back. When you walk in the door the first thing you notice is the smell. The entire place smells like pee and is revolting;than you notice how the place is just filthy,the staff never cleans. Of course when you see that there IS no staff you kind of understand;most days there is no staff till afternoon and even than there is just one person. The vet runs the whole place by herself,which is why I gave it a second chance,because I thought the vet was pretty great at first even with the disgusting environment. My opinion completely went negative after my last visit about a week ago, my sisters bunny is very sick so he needed a culture. The vet said it would take 24 to 48 hours for results;in that time he got much worse but we waited and called back 2 days later, the Vet hadn't even sent the culture out yet. So we had to wait again,after another day and calling again the Vet said it was some kind of staff infection but that they don't carry the medication so she would have to call around and to call in the morning. Waited till morning and called and the Vet was too busy and we were told she didn't have time to look into it yet,all the while my sisters poor bunny was getting worse and from what the Internet described,his life was in jeapordy from the infection(the vet didn't give us any info other than that she didn't have the meds) So,upset  we waited AGAIN and called the next day and by now my sister and I knew what the Vets voice sounded like,but the person on the phone acted as if the vet was busy and tried to get us off the phone (all while knowing the voice was that of the vet) and when we said we would wait the person Finally stated she was the vet and would call back in a while;which of course she didn't and my sister called once again. As of right now the Vet finally told us she would send the script to a place that has the meds so again we play the waiting game. On another note the clinic has cats and kittens up for adoption in the front as well as in cages in the back (employees only) and the poor darlings in the front are in wire floor cages with nothing but a litter box ,food, and water and the cages are filthy. The cats get no attention and are in a horrible environment,it hurts to see. When I brought it up to the vet I was told they take care of them after hours (the place is open from 7am to 8pm so that's a long time) I'm not sure how this place passes health inspections and is still in business but it's a joke and although the prices are the cheapest around,it's not worth it Read Less

I have been going here for at least 20 years. I will NEVER take my dogs anywhere else. Dr Kim has the strongest love and passion for animals I have ever seen. This is not a job to her its her world! She has the highest integrity. She will always be honest with you. She doesnt treat your pet for the dollar she treats it for the love and compasion she has. When you leave them in her care she stays with them and checks them through out the night. Doc...again I want to thank you for all you have done and all that you are!
