I recommend this vet! All the staff are kind and accommodating. They did a great job putting me to ease during a stressful situation. Dr. Fox, in particular, was a delight to work with. She really took the time to walk me through everything and answer my questions. In general, I’ve found the whole staff to care about my pet and her needs. They’ve also been willing to work with me and discuss the various options for care. This was especially helpful when I was making tough choices about what I could and could not afford- they let me know my options, the pros and cons of each route, and supported me in all the choices I made. Recently had to have a major surgery on my pet, and honestly it felt as if I was having a procedure. It was no different than going to a human hospital. Very professional. Yeah price was a bit high, but i am willing to pay for good quality care and that's what I feel like i get here! Never going anywhere else. Read Less

I brought my old dog, a thirteen-year-old Siberian husky, here when his body began to fail in his old age. Dr. Perry was so tender and caring with him, and they ensured me that nothing was seriously wrong with him other than the effects of age. He passed nearly a year later, and he did so quietly and peacefully, not racking up any vet bills to try and "bring him back." And, recently, I brought in my new pup, a nine-week-old golden doodle, who had some blood in her stool. They took a good look at her, treated her appropriately, and gave me some good advice on getting her off to a healthy start. The cost was very reasonable, in my opinion. They even gave her a "puppy kit" with some helpful goodies and information! The whole experience was absolutely great, and did I mention that they took her in the same day! They seemed to understand my dilemma and really went the extra mile for us. Everyone from Roxanne, the vet tech, to Dr. Fox, was superb! So glad to have BAH in my neighborhood! Thanks, guys! This place is great! I've never seen a place that cares so much for not only your pet but for you as the owner as well. From the minute I walk in the door, I feel like part of the family! My dog loves it here and is always begging them for treats. Hes part of their Pampered Puppies Club, so he comes in regularly for treats, hugs and loving from the staff. No matter how busy they are they always make time to love on my pet. They sincerely care about what they do. Read Less

I would give 10 stars if possible. Both Dr. Perry & Kasmersky have provided care to my dog and both take their time with you and your baby. Their vet assistances and Katherine at the front desk are very friendly and helpful.. Twice my baby was sick and hurt and they followed up multiple times after my visit to see how he was. I never felt rushed in my appointment with either doctor or on a phone call with staff. They really care for your pet. I haven’t seen such empathy and care in any other vet I’ve gone to in past years. The doctors also explain things very well and answer all questions. This is our permanent place. The visit fee is $75. 1 photo X-ray costs about $85. I don’t find the prices too high. The care and service is worth it if the price may alarm some. I highly recommend Broadway Animal Hospital. This place is irresponsible and only cares about money. The manager (named Matthew I think) is completely without understanding or common sense. In fact, he kept informing me that Dr. Perry was the doctor who saw my dog and his opinion on her case. Ummmmm, I've only seen female vets there the past year (Dr. Perry is a man). Dr. Perry did not examine my dog AT ALL, though he kept claiming so. Furthermore, I have never even met Dr Perry nor has he EVER examined my dog in her entire life! This blows my mind that they could lie about this repeatedly and try to tell me Dr. Perry knows what's best when he has never even set eyes upon my dog. Additionally, he went on to tell me Dr. Perry wanted to try special shampoo. Again, if either of them actually cared or even read her records to begin with, they would see she had already received it. Not only has she received it, but she got it at her last visit from Broadway Animal Hospital themselves. They seriously only remember to call you back when they want money. I had to call them everyday for a week a few months ago just so they could answer a simple dosing question. And when they actually do talk to you, they are incompetent, and can't even get simple facts straight! I will never go back nor talk to them on the phone again. Don't bring your loved ones here! Especially concerning people like this Matthew manager and vets like Perry that lie to make a buck. Read Less

Overall: this vet is just OK. There are other options that are a little further away that I rather give my money to, though. The receptionists are nice and very attentive, but the worst part is the veterinarian and the building. One vet in particular is not very adept at explaining what could be wrong with your pet, and they aren't comforting or reassuring. And inside the exam rooms it isn't very clean. Also, what many reviews mention about random fees showing up on your bill is TRUE! I asked for estimates for everything before we paid and when we paid we had to pay 8 extra dollars (not much, I know) for a "liquid disposal fee" when I saw the vet in front of my face simply pour the liquid down the sink while we were speaking to them. I know it's not much money, but unnecessary fees like this do keep people from showing up. Read Less

I want to thank the lovely women at the front desk. I was on a long walk with my 4 month old pug in the blazing heat and realized my water supply was lacking. Seeing their establishment, I walked in and asked if he could have some water. Both of the ladies - sorry to generalize, but a blonde and a brunette - were super kind and got a bowl of water for my little guy despite them being busy. I walked out of there immediately considering that place as a potential long term place based on that interaction. If I was the owner, I'd be happy these ladies potentially got a new, hopefully long term client just by being nice. Thank you again, ladies!!!!! Read Less

I'm writing this review to warn prospect customers to expect MISCELLANEOUS charges on your bill. We brought our dogs in for annual exam and vaccines back in Nov 2016,  along with all the expected charges we noticed that there is a "anal glands release" charge of 27 and "medical waste fee". We did not ask them to release the anal gland at all... We didnt fight for the charges as they are not major charges. I  brought my dog in for rabies vaccin today and was once again charged a miscellaneous "examination" fee of 72 dollars, that is more than the vaccination itself. We were not informed about this charge when we made the reservation nor when they admitted my dog onsite. Even I did asked while making the reservation if there is going to be any other charges i was not given any of the information about the "examination fee". The manager Meagan explained that they were not able to refund the charge because that was doctor's time spent and after further review she said I was not supposed to be charged for the full exam since we were there within 6 months and refunded me 19 dollars instead. So here comes the questions: 1, why is customer not told there is other major charges that is going to happen when they asked those information while making reservation. 2 why is customer not given the charges information when their pet is admitted? 3. Why didn't the staff who billed the customer review the pet's exam history prior to billing? This is like going to a restaurant and buying a bottle of wine without being informed about the price. I would not have gone there if its not a block away from me and I will certainly not go there again. DO NOT GO. Read Less

I read the five-star reviews of Broadway Animal Hospital here on Yelp and wondered if these people went to the same place that I did. I went only a few times, but that was enough. I never saw the same vet twice. Exam rooms are tiny and shabby. There was no follow-up from the vets about my pet's condition after appointments. It took ages to get a medication refill approval from an online pet-meds company that I use to save a ton of money instead of buying it there. Front-desk staff were consistently disappointing and extremely poor at communication, unless it was amongst themselves--I stood wondering what was going on while they talked to each other at length and completely ignored me. Fees are crazy-high, and I expect WAY, WAY better customer service for what they charge. I was wholly unimpressed on my first visit, but kept trying because they're nearby, but I give up.___________________Addendum, 27 July 2017:I found it downright bizarre that BAH had my cat cremated by a religious organization that returned her remains in a tin with a saint on it. For the life of me I can't understand why they would do that in one of the most religiously diverse neighborhoods of one of the most religiously diverse cities in the world. I am not a religious person, and was not asked if this would be okay. I removed my cat's remains and threw out the odd tin--for which BAH charged good money. If this was offered as a choice, I'd certainly understand, but to do such a thing without communication? Just bizarre. And now the crematory is sending follow-up mailings, seemingly trying to turn a sad event into a business opportunity, because they offer grooming and boarding as well! :-O Horrifying. Read Less

Although the vets and techs at BAH have generally been friendly and helpful, the service is just lacking. Even when I've called ahead of time to inform themI would be picking up my cat's prescription food and have been told it would be put aside for me, I've somehow ended up waiting for upwards of fifteen minutes while something or other gets sorted out before I was able to get what I came for. There are so many long waits here, from waiting to be called sometimes thirty minutes past your appointment time to then being made to wait in the tiny, uncomfortable, mercilessly hot exam rooms for the doctor to come in, again sometimes for 20+ minutes. And although Dr. Kas is very nice, he seems very spacey to me and not particularly well-informed. The most recent female vet I saw there, who had what sounded like an Eastern European accent, did seem very competent, however. But because of their disorganization and chaotic-seeming environment, I have chosen to take my pets elsewhere. Read Less

As many have noted, Dr. Kaz is as nice as nice can be.  He's sort of the Danny Kaye of veterinarians. And, in the moment, his staff is also very nice. But today I took my dog in, who was in considerable pain.  After an exam and some x-rays, turns out, he'd broken a toe.  The doctor (not Dr. Kaz, but his associate - more on that later), prescribed a pain-killer, an antibiotic, a medicated-shampoo, and some damn other thing I don't even know what it's for. When it came time to check out, I didn't have the money to pay for everything, although I will on Friday, when I get paid. Now, I understand they're a business, I understand they need to get paid, and I even understand that some people do not have the best intentions. My dog has been a patient for OVER NINE YEARS, and I've always paid his bill.  Always.  Literally the only person in the practice who has been there longer than we've been coming is Dr. Kaz.  And Dr. Kaz himself has suggested payment plans for more involved procedures that he's recommended for my dog.  I declined his offer, because I DON'T AGREE TO THINGS I CAN'T PAY FOR.  And I wasn't even asking for a "plan," I was asking to pay in full 3 days later.  THREE DAYS.   After NINE YEARS. Three days that my dog will be in pain.  Message received: "we don't care about your damn, stinking dog."  How can they expect loyalty from me, when they won't reciprocate?Today, I was essentially told "I'm sorry, your dog, who has been coming here for over nine years, will have to continue to suffer because it's Tuesday, and you can't pay until Friday."  I paid for the exam and the x-rays, but my dog is still in pain - despite having a prescription for pain-killers, which they withheld.  It was the most heartless thing I've ever experienced. And while Dr. Kaz is outwardly as friendly as friendly can be, there is question in the Rogers Park dog-owner community (and don't think my story won't go out) why he has SUCH a hard time retaining associates.  He's had at least 6 since we've been going, not to mention countless fill-ins.  Is he as heartless to his staff as  he is to his patients? After today, I'm not sure we'll ever be back.  Shame on you, Broadway Animal Hospital.  My dog can barely stand to walk, and you ignored his suffering - AFTER NINE YEARS.  If we do come back, please don't bother with any sort of pretense that you care about my dog. Let me first start by saying if Dr. Kaz would start excepting human patients I'd be first in line. He is by far the best doctor in Chicago. He is knowledgeable, caring and informs clients to let them make decisions on how to care for their pets in the best way possible. I have been coming here for quite some time. I found them when I moved to edgewater in 2011ish. I refuse to go anywhere else unless I absolutely have to for example when my boxer of 10 years of age experienced bloat for the first time I called Broadway animal hospital because I didn't know what was going on with her and they advised me to take her to the ER immediately. They have saved my dogs life so how could I not Yell it from the rooftops on yelp?! After having her treated at med vet (which I was not very happy about their pricing/added procedures that were not performed on the bill btw but thats a whole other story) I got a random phone call a few weeks later from Dr. Kaz himself checking in on my boxer Layla and her recovery from the surgery. I seriously wanted to cry because with that one phone call he locked me in for life. I was so shocked and pleased that he took time out of his day to check in on the well-being of his patient that didn't even get the surgery done in his facility! So to make a long story short if you want honest, professional, down to earth care for your pets just see Dr. Kaz at Broadway animal hospital. I went to about four different vets in Chicago in before I found him and he is hands-down the best. No BS bills or charges either. Thanks for all you do guys! Oh and also my two dogs LOVE going to the vet how crazy is that?! LOL Read Less

My experience at this vet has been good overall--the technicians I have seen seem to take good care of my cat and listen to my requests to pick and choose which vaccines I wish to provide to my indoor cat at which time. However, and this may be a trait of most vets, I do feel that pricing could be much more transparent. I feel like every time I go to the vet, I have no idea what my bill will be when I leave. Costs do seem high, and I was shocked to find that a routine teeth cleaning for my cat (including initial blood work, anesthesia, and possible tooth extraction) would cost from $700 to $1,300. Also, I feel like I always have to ask what the prices are for shots/meds/services as they are performing them. It would be great if they could be more upfront about fees so that the consumer doesn't feel deceived every time they leave. :) Read Less

I went here yesterday since this was the only place available on short notice and I won't be returning. One of the vet techs assisting my older cat wasn't very careful or considerate and after giving him some fluids I noticed he was bleeding. She told me not to worry since it was just a blood vessel but won't bleed out. When I had the same treatment done at Felines and Canines the vet tech provided the fluid in the room and showed lots of care when injecting the needle. Aside from that, they didn't tell me any prices upfront but kept suggesting different things for me to purchase. Strangest thing that happened was the front desk told me I owed 30 cents from a previous visit and I had never been there before. The vet himself was lethargic and wasn't able to answer my questions. He suggested bloodwork to identify why my cat had abruptly started puking and suggested antinausea injections. I asked why my cat would be feeling nauseous and he bypassed the question. I didn't feel I was getting anywhere and felt uncomfortable. Eventually he told me I should try the brand of food they carry. I agreed to a one pound bag. He later tells me the 8 pound bags were available, to which I declined. Overall, I didn't enjoy the experience and felt I didn't get any answers or help. I ended up taking my cat home and he's back to himself; however, if my kitty shows signs of any distress I'll definitely pay closer attention to who I take him to. Read Less

I have to be honest, you probably will not meet nicer people than at Broadway Animal Hospital for you and your pet, which is the reason for the extra star in my rating. That said, between bills that are much more expensive than necessary (e.g. ~$500 for a basic puppy neutering) to misdiagnosing heartworm after two tests, this is a business I simply don't trust anymore. I have had nothing but issues with this vet since my first visit. I recently moved and it was recommended I come to this clinic since it's close to home. My cat is medicated for a chemical imbalance and I had his records sent from my original vet. Upon his first visit the female vet absolutely refused to even interact or examine my cat out of fear even though he showed zero signs of aggression and was absolutely fine with the vet tech. I paid them basically for a refill. None of the bloodwork my previous vet said would be necessary was done. I was Then told to bring him back in 2 months later and medicated and threatened with sedation. I was appalled. It was the most unprofessional experience I've ever experienced.Today I returned to have him examined properly, as instructed he was medicated. Again he was fine with the vet tech and was weighed and had a rectal temp taken. This time we saw a male vet. He was very compassionate and examined my cat, answered questions I had but again, no blood work or comprehensive exam. He suggested a lower dose of meds and I agreed. I explained I'd like the pills prescribed accordingly so I wouldn't have to cut them since this is always challenging and want to ensure proper dosing. I also stated his colleague said we could have a bigger prescription after this visit since he was doing fine. Fine. He gave me info on a behavior vet and a bag of treats.Upon checking out I gave them a more convenient pharmacy to fill my script at. I also reiterated that I'd like the script written for a lower dose pill in order to avoid cutting in addition to cracking the scored pills. I get to the pharmacy and the script was not adjusted per my request. I also was not given any refills. Which means I now have to call and muddle through with the reception staff who seemed totally perplexed by a pharmacy change. I am at this point convinced this vet is revenue driven and could care less about the animals and their owners. It's truly unfortunate they're so awful due to being close to my home. I'm just grateful my pet isn't in a medical crisis because I have zero faith in their competency and dedication. Read Less

They went ahead and scheduled a tooth extraction for my 13 year old cat and never mentioned checking his blood pressure (which I came to find from the new vet that I switched too, that that is an absolute must for senior cats. The level of care, support, and compassion provided at the Broadway Animal Hospital is astounding. After and accident that caused dire injuries to my cat I rushed him to Broadway Animal Hospital because that's where he'd received previous shots and check ups. The staff there were so kind and supportive. Unfortunately my cat was beyond saving, but I was so appreciative of how Broadway Animal Hospital did everything in their power to save cat. When they were unable to help any further my cat was transferred to an emergency hospital where I was informed he would not make it. I did not go back and explain this to the staff at Broadway Animal Hospital but because of their dedication and love for animals they took it upon themselves to follow up with the emergency clinic and then reached out to me to show their support and offer condolences. I was speechless at the amazing level of care they showed for both pets and owners. Recently I was having a conversation with someone and they told me about how their pet became ill (their cat did survive :-) ) and described how the animal clinic they took their cat to provided amazing service. Immediately I asked, "Did you go to Broadway Animal Hospital?" and they, surprised said yes and asked me how I knew, and I said that when they described the level of care and support they received I just new it had to be the Broadway Animal Hospital. I've yet to go anywhere else that measures up. I wish I could give them 100 stars. Read Less

Read Less

I have taken my cat here for a few years for her checkups, and most recently, a dental cleaning.  I usually get in and out with my cat relatively quickly, and I can tell the staff and veterinarians care about the animals.  Prices are reasonable too.  It's also pretty easy to get an appointment within a short time frame.  You can generally get street parking.  I would recommend Broadway Animal Hospital to anyone looking for a vet on the north side. Read Less

Their prices are much higher than I have ever paid. I say shop around. The 30 seconds wellness check up was 60$! Look in the ears -20$ , tilt the head -20$ , rub the back 20$! Rude owner also!

Staff all were compassionate and friendly during a very stressful time with my kitty. Doctors took the time to explain procedures, tests and results. I did lose my kitty and again felt as if arms were wrapped around me. Best veterinary hospital I have been to in all my years in Chicago. Would reccomend them unconditionally. Read Less
