As many have noted, Dr. Kaz is as nice as nice can be. He's sort of the Danny Kaye of veterinarians. And, in the moment, his staff is also very nice. But today I took my dog in, who was in considerable pain. After an exam and some x-rays, turns out, he'd broken a toe. The doctor (not Dr. Kaz, but his associate - more on that later), prescribed a pain-killer, an antibiotic, a medicated-shampoo, and some damn other thing I don't even know what it's for. When it came time to check out, I didn't have the money to pay for everything, although I will on Friday, when I get paid. Now, I understand they're a business, I understand they need to get paid, and I even understand that some people do not have the best intentions. My dog has been a patient for OVER NINE YEARS, and I've always paid his bill. Always. Literally the only person in the practice who has been there longer than we've been coming is Dr. Kaz. And Dr. Kaz himself has suggested payment plans for more involved procedures that he's recommended for my dog. I declined his offer, because I DON'T AGREE TO THINGS I CAN'T PAY FOR. And I wasn't even asking for a "plan," I was asking to pay in full 3 days later. THREE DAYS. After NINE YEARS. Three days that my dog will be in pain. Message received: "we don't care about your damn, stinking dog." How can they expect loyalty from me, when they won't reciprocate?Today, I was essentially told "I'm sorry, your dog, who has been coming here for over nine years, will have to continue to suffer because it's Tuesday, and you can't pay until Friday." I paid for the exam and the x-rays, but my dog is still in pain - despite having a prescription for pain-killers, which they withheld. It was the most heartless thing I've ever experienced. And while Dr. Kaz is outwardly as friendly as friendly can be, there is question in the Rogers Park dog-owner community (and don't think my story won't go out) why he has SUCH a hard time retaining associates. He's had at least 6 since we've been going, not to mention countless fill-ins. Is he as heartless to his staff as he is to his patients? After today, I'm not sure we'll ever be back. Shame on you, Broadway Animal Hospital. My dog can barely stand to walk, and you ignored his suffering - AFTER NINE YEARS. If we do come back, please don't bother with any sort of pretense that you care about my dog. Read Less
