I have been taking my cat who has glaucoma in her one remaining eye here for 2 years. The entire staff has always been incredibly professional with me and compassionate to my cat. Especially Dr. Gaerig who has a lot of patience with the fact that my cat absolutely hates being there and makes her displeasure known. She's also always been upfront with me about what to expect and helpful if I have had any questions. Yes, they are a little expensive, but for the expertise and service provided I think it's worth it. Read Less

If you're pet has anything wrong with his/her eye, you should be taking them to Eye Care for Animals of Chicago. My own dog, Loki, developed increased pressure in his eye that was not responding to medications or other advanced treatment. From the very beginning, Dr. Gaerig was great about empathizing with my dog's condition and presented all the options that would potentially benefit him. At the end of the day, removing his eye was the best option and he has done great since then. Dr. Gaerig was even kind enough to call with updates on his biopsy results and just to check on how he was doing after the surgery. The whole office from the front desk, to the technicians, to Dr. Gaerig were wonderful. You would be making a mistake going somewhere else for your pet's eye condition, particularly if it needs advanced care. Read Less

I hate to see all of these negative reviews. My dog has/had a corneal ulcer and I thought everyone at this clinic was professional, as well as, thorough. They are a very specialized clinic. They are not going to be cheap, and the treatment decisions are not going to be easy. We take our pets to this clinic, because they have serious eye conditions that our regular vets cannot treat. I did not feel pressured to make any decision I was not comfortable with. Every procedure, medication and cost was outlined before anything was done or decided. I appreciated this, and the doctor was very good and informative. She told me what my options were, and helped me decide the best course of action. If you have a pet with a serious eye condition, you should feel comfortable taking them here. Be proactive, ask questions and make sure you're part of the decision process. Read Less

Took my cat to the Phoenix office when I noticed a black spot in his eye. They recommended laser surgery. It was expensive, but went smoothly. Unfortunately the spots recurred and they recommended that the eye be removed. This was a big decision, and another big expense, but they were all very supportive. Dr. Barrett took the time to explain everything to me. The vet techs and front office staff were all very nice and took the time to make follow up calls after the surgeries. As soon as the pathology report came back they called with the results: Melanoma. Stage 1, so we caught it early and my cat has a good prognosis. Please don't ignore any irregularities in your pets' eyes--bring them here for a check up. Read Less
