It's sad. This place used to be amazing. The doctors were friendly and helpful, and went out of their way for clients in need. I think it may be because the old doctors retired, but everything about this place has slipped. Whoever is running the show now clearly cares only about one thing: $$$. Now don't get me wrong, this place has always been pricy. My ex girlfriend used to work there and would joke about how expensive everything was, and how they'd get their well-heeled clients to spend outrageous sums on unnecessary treatments. I used to think it was hyperbole, but I can see now this place has capital gains number one on their minds at all times. It's basically the scientology of veterinarians, i.e. a luxury cult for the rich and foolish. If you come in and ask for treatment, hands down the first thing they'll suggest is the most expensive, whether it makes sense or not. THEN if you ask about other treatments, they will judge you and condescend for not taking their (most expensive) option. Mind you, I'd expect to pay more for exceptional service, but the service is terrible now! Between the stone-eyed, slack-jawed employees and the slick, used car salesman doctors, this place is a nightmare! IT'S A SCAM! You think you're paying more for top care but are you? I've come to the conclusion that my ex gf wasn't even joking, and their business model is to bilk the wealthy and market the high price as something extra, something more than you'd get elsewhere, when you're really just paying more for more expensive, mediocre care.
The last straw was when I came in for an appointment toward the end of the day at 5:30. My cat had been suffering hot spots and was in a lot of pain. I had called and apologized, said I was going to be ten minutes late and that I would be right there. In the old days this would not have been a problem. However in Dr. Gutierrez's luxury cult this didn't fly. She knows I'm not on the Chicago Bulls or in finance so she deliberately treated me like crap. There's one red flag, on top of how completely phony she comes off in all interactions. But after repeatedly refusing service due to my being late, she dares to tell me "tHeY dO tHe SaMe ThInG aT dOcToRs' AnD dEnTiStS' oFfIcEs!!!" Yes, I know, you miserable trollop, but I just left work early and drove across town and back with my cat in rush hour traffic so we can deal with this issue. I did that because you're supposed to be the best and most caring provider. But now I've taken all this effort and put my baby through hell for no reason. The cat can't come here herself!! Plus that's just not a way to treat a loyal customer who's spent thousands over the years. But oops I'm clearly not in the 1%, therefore my pet is not worthy of their attention, because I'm not an easily exploitable asset.
That's Family Pet now. They care about profits, not animals. They've truly devolved into a sluggish, uncaring, money-grubbing failure of an organization. But like I said, I've come to realize that's always kind of been their M.O. Come here for mediocre care at top notch prices. And watch out for that snake, Dr. Gutierrez. She does not care about animals and I do not trust her to provide the best care for any pet. I wouldn't consider ever coming here again until she's gone. She should have followed her true calling and joined a venture capital firm. Caveat emptor Read Less
