They used to be our primary care vet for our cavalier king charles spaniel. when he developed a severe case of SM - a disorder known to Cavalier breed - they told us they no longer would provide primary care - always paid each visit - never bounced checks - even paid for a "vet " who pulled out 4 x 5 cards to find information on panacur - as we did not know it was her first week out of school - charged us and we paid - now our Cavalier is in severe pain and we must decide whe...re to go - Dr B can keep smoking his cigars and pretend to be a vet - and take money from those whom are snowed as to his caring. if treatment was given by mediucation two weeks earlier when we first went to them for the condition - he could have had a healthy couple of more years - shame on them for not takiong responsibility - but they know no one will hold them legally accountable for this cavaliers demise. PS when we went to another vet for exam - and told him what had happened - he was truly speechless - and suggested maybe dr. b was experiencing an "age related " moment - as his exam confirmed severe SM and yes it is now past medication point - where we pleaded with Mckillip for assistance but were met with silence See More Read Less

My family and I have gone to this vet since I was 10 years old and we adopted a wonderful puppy from Anti-Cruelty. I'm 47 now and about to bring our kitten in for a little veterinary TLC (eye infection) and I always feels at ease with everyone here. McKillip Animal Hospital is the best. On New Years day our cat Pushkin was in great distress and rushed him to the 24 hours vet hospital. It was determined that he had a serious bladder blockage that would need surgery to correct. We transferred the our cat to McKillip. Wouldn't you know our cat with it's genetics make up was not responding to the treatment. Constant complications which prevented him from peeing. Dr Brizgys and Dr Glater told us flat out that they have never seen this before, but would not give up and worked with Pushkin for 2 weeks until he finally was released. This cat was saved by the great staff at McKillip. They cared about the cat and our family. They went way beyond the norm to make this right. We will always be grateful for their unselfish efforts. Definitely recommend. Read Less

After my dealings with McKillip today I am horrified and will definitely never return. I dropped my cats off this morning to have them boarded while the windows in our apartment were replaced. Our cats were boarded numerous times in the past at our previous vet, and they were always well behaved and well loved by the staff. After checking out and paying for the boarding service when we came to pick them up, we proceeded to wait almost 15 minutes for our cats to be returned to us. Twice the receptionist looked my direction and claimed that they were coming. Then, she approached me to tell me that one of our cats had become mean and they had great difficulty getting her into her carrier. This sounded odd considering she's the type of cat to walk right in when you open the carrier door. She then went on to tell me that my cat was so upset she had pooped herself, and they weren't going to clean up the mess. To make this infuriating story short, when we arrived home and got our cat out of her carrier it became clear to me that she had pooped several hours ago. While I had expected diarrhea, instead her carrier was full of hard, dry (ie, old) turds. I question if my cat was ever removed from her carrier to begin with. Both cats immediately ran to drink water and use their litterboxes upon leaving their carriers. This is not common behavior for them upon returning home from boarding, which indicates to me that McKillip failed to meet their most basic needs in the 7ish hours they spent there. Horrible. There is absolutely no excuse. Read Less

I had a good experience at McKillip, I didn't have to wait too long, the staff were very nice to me and everyone looked pretty much concerned about my poor boy Koen (my kitty) who was suffering from an urinary related illness. The doctor and nurses were very very helpful and professional, prescribed some special diet food and other medicines as well as drinking lots and lots of liquids. Today my boy looks better, he's eating well, not peeing on the floor anymore, and I deeply appreciate everything they did for us. And a plus to all this, they are located just a couple of blocks from my home which makes it even more convenient. I give them 5 stars for being awesome! Read Less

I went here on a recommendation. I will never return. The relief vet gave me advice that would either kill my dog or allow him to run away. My dog had a bad reaction to k9 advantix which caused hot spots all over his body this caused his skin under his armpits to break down and create an open sore. I took him to the ER and they gave him medicine and advised a mesh harness so it is away from his arm pits and to ensure this never happens again only have him wear his harness on walks. I took him to Mckillips as a follow up as i am new to the neighborhood and needed a new vet. Don't get me wrong there was a few positives. But they were very minor. The waiting room was nice. I like the free parking. But that is it. The relief vet advised that my pug wear a normal collar and never wear a harness. A PUG CAN NOT WEAR A COLLAR. If a pug wears a collar it can damage their trachea and can kill them. Or based off their necks it will slide off with the slightest tug allowing him to escape. As I love my dog this advise was horrible. To me it is akin to malpractice. The regular vet may be nice, may be capable but the relief vet is Horrible.Read Less

We were extremely disappointed with the way our cat Romeo was treated on Saturday at McKillip animal hospital. We came in to follow up after a recent trip to the emergency vet in which they determined Romeo had a UTI. While we were at McKillip, the doctor was great with Romeo, but the vet tech (male, not sure of his name) was really rude and unhelpful. The doctor thought Romeo might need to have his anal glands expressed, so they took him back to do that while we waited in the lobby. When the vet tech brought him back to us 30 minutes later, he said, "your cat lost his temper and urinated and defecated on himself. He wouldn't let me clean him, so I just put him back in his carrier. He'll probably clean himself later." I'm pretty sure my cat didn't "let" you express his anal glands, or take his blood, or anything else either, yet somehow you still managed to get it done. So in other words, the male technician didn't want to deal with it, and it was easier to just put him back in his crate and send us on our way, so that he didn't have to worry about it. This was completely ridiculous and unacceptable. Romeo smelled worse than anything I have ever smelled in my life, due to not cleaning off whatever was expressed from the anal glands, combined with the urine and feces that apparently were produced due to the amount of stress/pain caused by the male technician (which has also never happened before in the 12 years Romeo has been alive, and he has seen many vets). You are a vets office! This is not ok. Cats never like baths - this is not specific to Romeo. Due to the laziness of this technician, we got kicked out of TWO cabs on the way home because of the overwhelming, nauseating smell, and ended up having to walk home with our cat in his crate over two miles! What a nightmare! This was traumatizing for both us and our cat, who is an indoor cat and not used to loud cars and people. Additionally, if you absolutely could not give the cat a bath, could you have at least taken the small blanket and shirt out of his crate before throwing him in there covered in all of that? Or ask us first if we would like to get that stuff out?? Shirt and blanket ruined. We will never be back there. And the male technician should really consider whether this is the proper job for him. If you can't give a cat a bath after a procedure like that, why are you working at a vet's office? Completely unprofessional. And completely unacceptable to be treated that way. STAY AWAY FROM THIS VET!! Horrible, overpriced, unprofessional and uncaring.Read Less

I tend to favor home holistic treatment but sometimes you do need medical backup and this place has been helping our furry family for 37 years now. Read Less

I took my Chelsea here a week ago after seeing him in distress and learned he had a spinal injury that there was not an easy fix for. I had to make the most difficult decision of putting him to sleep that day. The staff were not only kind and helpful in answering questions I had, they allow me as much time as I needed with him.
