I have been meaning to write this review of MDVC for a long time and am finally getting around to it. I can't say enough good things about the staff and the care we've received here. We have 3 senior cats and 2 young dogs - all are patients at MDVC. We've been going here for 7 years and have made use of their services for wellness exams, dental cleaning, and behavioral assistance, as well as a few emergency visits. The staff are so caring and so supportive and our animals always receive exceptional care. To provide a few examples: - our 17 year old female cat is terminally grouchy and has also had a very hard time grooming the last year or so. At her last appointment this year, Dr. Sullivan was so patient and kind. He helped us come up with a solution for the fur mats that she keeps forming and took his time with the exam so that she didn't get stressed out. - our youngest dog (3 years old) is very shy and nervous in new situations. Dr. Grossman and Candice both spent so much time with us during our wellness exam to make sure that my dog was comfortable and at ease. They were both willing to sit on the floor and play silly games with my dog before and during the exam. - finally - we have a 4 year old dog that is incredibly shy and reactive. MDVC has played an instrumental role in helping us work through some of his issues. We worked with Dr. Ballantyne to develop some strategies for success - this meeting several years ago gave me the confidence to start working with my dog to help him overcome some of his fears. For the last 1-2 years, I have also been taking my dog for regular "happy visits". We just stop in every week to say "hi" to the staff and they pet my dog, give him cookies, let him sniff around and then we head home. These visits have become so important to us and have really helped us! In fact, my dog now knows the words "happy visit" and "sheila" (because sheila at the front desk is now one of his favorite people in the entire world). I can't believe the transformation that's taken place over the last few years. We were just in for a happy visit this morning and my dog was sitting politely, taking treats from Sheila and Christian with his back to the front door - he would never have done this last year! he would have had his eye on the door the entire time. This is a dog who is fearful around unfamiliar men, too - yet he is able to approach and interact positively with Dr. Sullivan, Dr. Grossman, and now with Christian (a new staff member). The techs are also so fantastic. Candice, Crystal, and Kelsey, in particular, have all taken time to help us work on getting familiar with people holding his paws, staying on the scale, and so many other things. This is a really long review but we've just had so many great experiences there. The prices are reasonable and, more importantly, I always feel that the staff have the emotional and physical well-being of my pet at the top of their priorities. Over the last few years they really have started to feel more like family to us than just a vet office. Read Less
