Took my senior Westie who is dealing with some serious (but controlled) health issues to Dr. Schnoor. Found her to be kind and caring with my pup and thoughtful and educational for me. I had several questions that my previous vet had not explained well and she remedied that situation. Found her and the entire team at Mid North to be professional and efficient. Dr. Ross performed major surgery on our 14 year old Cattahoula mix (Rascal). She had a massive malignant tumor in her muscular wall. I am happy to report that the surgery was a tremendous success and Rascal is still alive and well at age 17, which is unheard of for a big dog. We will forever be grateful to Dr Ross for saving her life. He is highly competent and intelligent. He also saved my cat's life by accurately diagnosing acute pancreatitis and acting quickly to provide life saving treatment for him. I would not go anywhere else for my animals! Read Less

I could not ask for a better vet to take my furbabies to. My cat Peter has had constipation issues for yrs. Drs Ross and Laura have gone above and beyond on multiple occasions to help me get him cleared out and back to a comfortable place. They have helped me try every available option to get his problem under control. It finally got to the point where I had to consider surgery and Ross made sure I was well aware of the pros and cons that go along with it. My little buddy just got out of surgery and the staff kept me posted on progress throughout the whole thing. Within an HR of surgery being done Ross was calling me with updates. I feel so lucky to have a vet who cares about my little guy just as much as I do. I know that he will always be in good hands and I would highly recommend Mid North to anyone looking for a vet. We have 5 cats. They are regulars at Mid North. I cannot express how kind each and every employee is to my fur babies. Dr. Ross and Dr. Schnoor always take time to answer all my questions. They are patient. They are prompt to call you back. They let you know what is happening every step of the way. My 16 year-old Bengal cat, Lucy, has been through health and sickness under the knowledgeable and compassionate care of Dr. Ross and the Mid North team for the last 8 years. Since her stroke, Lucy's visits require blood pressure checks. Getting a solid blood pressure reading used to require that I drop her off in the morning.  Then, a vet technician would  have to wait until she calmed down (she's fiesty) to get an accurate blood pressure reading.  Usually, that meant I had to wait until evening to come get her..  Not only was that tough on Lucy, it was tough on me since I don't have a car. Well, Mid North came up with an awesome solution.  They invite Lucy to come a half hour before her scheduled visit to acclimate to her own private exam room.  The result is a calm kitty and an accurate blood pressure reading all in one visit!That's just one example how Dr. Ross and the team at Mid North go above and beyond for the animals (and people) they care for.  I have countless other stories. I am very pleased with the care my 14-year-old cat, Enid, has received from Dr. Ross and his staff at Mid-North Animal Hospital. Dr. Ross was recommended to me by my neighbor whose dog is a patient there. I think that Enid would have died soon if she had not seen Dr. Ross for her thyroid problem. We adopted a cat through Feline Friends Chicago, which has all of their cats vetted through Mid North Animal Hospital. Since our cat already had her records there, we took her in for her next appointment to Mid North. I'm so glad that we decided to stay with them -- the staff and vets are all fantastic and we have been back several times with great experiences for each. When our cat had an asthma emergency, we got very helpful advice from the staff over the phone and we know that we can rely on them. The only downside is how difficult it is to find parking nearby; metered spots are very limited and all adjacent streets are permit only. Plan extra time before your appointment to drive around the block looking for a spot or to walk from a block away.Read Less

Love the staff and doctors here :-) They really care about you and your pet's health. Dr. Schnoor and Dr. Ross have always been realistic about our pets' health as well as providing excellent follow-up. Miriam, the office manager is the nicest person you will ever meet and will go out of her way to assist you. Sean the hospital manager has personally come over to my mom's apartment to give fluids to my mom's sick dog Apricot. Levi knows how to wrangle even the most angry fussy dog. My dog Sebastian is challenging to work with as an Eskie, Levi and staff can handle him well and he literally loves coming here to greet everyone which makes trips to the vet so much easier. I should start of by saying that my animals have never been here, thankfully, but I have had to deal with them because of helping a friend with her pet. Other than in the examine room, I have never seen a vet, even when picking up medications. It's just good customer service to make sure I understand what the meds are, what they do, and how to give them to the pet. It's not like the front desk staff has any idea. My friend has called and said that I would be there in 20 minutes to pick up meds and to have them at the front desk to make things easy for me. I get there, have to double park, run inside, ask for the meds, told they had no idea what I was talking about, after a conversation with 3 different people the 1st woman goes "Oh, right, yeah, I know who you are talking about.", they spend 5 minutes going through a closet looking for the meds, someone goes to the back and brings out the meds. My quick run in run out takes over 10 minutes. And, is it just me, or does the whole clinic smell like pee. After going with me to my vet and seeing how things could be, she immediately ceased going to this clinic. Most loving thing she ever did for her pet. Read Less

So thankful for Mid North Animal Hospital, Dr. Ross and his staff! My 2.5 yr old Labradoodle developed a nasty gaggling/cough. Mid North fit me in first thing the following morning when I called (I called at 7am they gave me first appointment at 9am). Which I was so thankful for because I had just moved to the area and was not currently a patient of theirs! Naturally on the walk there my dog started perking up like he was fine (despite the cough) once we arrived at the vets office, the staff was so kind and comforting it helped a lot with the stress. Dr. Ross was able to rule out certain things based off his other symptoms and a physical exam. I was so thankful because I thought he may have swallowed underwear (again) and xrays etc are extremely expensive! Fitz can be a hyper dog but they were able to calm him which was so nice and comforting. Dr. Ross even sent a follow up email the next day letting me know the results of some tests and to check in on how Fitz was doing. No vet has ever taken the time to do that before for us! I am absolutely wowed by how kind and thorough they were! The prices are what you expect in the city, but the care is above and beyond. Read Less

I cannot recommend Mid North more! My sister has brought her dog to them for a few years, so when I needed a recommendation, I decided to give them a try. The location happens to be perfect for me and my dog since we have no car and have to walk to appointments. However, the staff is the reason we have been so over-the-top impressed by this facility. My dog, Clementine, has seen both Dr. Ross and Dr. Schnoor multiple times, and neither of us can play favorites! We love them both. They are kind and immediately put us at ease. Both are prompt but never make me feel rushed or like I can't ask the thousands of questions I've saved up. Most importantly, they are both so intelligent and knowledgable, but have a way of explaining diagnoses to us not-so-knowledgable people :)The entire staff is wonderful. I've never had a pet who actually WANTS to go to the vet, but every time we walk remotely near Mid North, Clementine tries to B-line to it so she can visit her friends. If that isn't the surest sign of a great animal hospital, I don't know what is! Read Less

We just moved here and got a recommendation for MidNorth from our in-laws. They know how to run a business. Our pup was neutered. They sent us photos of him post op, emailed to check in, and sent us a card post surgery. If I have a question, I can email the vet direct and he emails back super quick. Great customer care! Dr. Laura Schnoor: I liked her because she was not afraid of my aggressive dog but she was soo unafraid it made me nervous. I stopped going to midnorth though when one day it seemed she was under the influence of drugs. Her behavior was odd. I read some other review where someone said the doc reeked of booze. I wonder if this was also dr schnoor. Maybe she was drunk not on drugs. They were quite expensive too. They took the pets in the back to give shots and draw blood etc. I dont like vets who do that. The parking situation is bad there too. Read Less

The entire staff at mid north is incredible. With 4 dogs, we are frequent visitors and they treat us and our pets like family. My wife and I have been bringing our cats Angel and Callie to Mid-North for around 13 years and every member of the staff has been wonderful. Dr. Ross and Dr. Schnoor have always gone above and beyond, especially since Angel has had numerous health problems for many years.Angel is a 16 year old cat who has had many complicated health problems that the everyone on staff have been absolutely amazing about. The doctors and techs have all been very sweet with our cats as well as looking out for our wellbeing. Over the last weekend, Angel has had a nasty stomach bug that had my wife and I very worried. Throughout the weekend, Dr. Ross was in touch with us to keep checking up on her and us. To the people who think it is expensive... it is in Lincoln Park, I am not sure exactly what you expected.The front desk people are amazing and know what is happening with your pet at all times. The doctors listen to all of your concerns, even if they are a little intense. They are great with the animals, and you can tell they actually love what they do. I cannot recommend this place enough! Front desk people are super nice and friendly, and so are the Doctors! Mariam at the front desk is so sweet and really patient. Dr. Schnoor and Dr. Ross are great and easy to talk to! Definitely a nice group of people....Financially this vet is WAY expensive and everytime we thought we'd be on our last bill for a while there was something else they wanted to try or some other kind of food to buy from them for a little. It took a long time to find any kind of diagnosis and tons of tests and medicines... to find a common disorder- (basically a grain allergy). I'm sure they meant well, but as young adults with our first dog I wonder if we were a little naive to the vet bills and once we did our research we were stunned at the difference in prices from other facilities and Mid North!If you have the money and you don't care about being overpriced then I do recommend them, as far as pleasant atmosphere and well maintained facilities and highly qualified. And they truly do love animals- that is obvious. The owner of the practice though was quite rude on the phone to husband and not very understanding. Read Less
