Our cat has been a patient for 7 years. The location was convenient, and for routine check ups, it was acceptable. However, if your pet needs anything beyond a rabies shot, I suggest going somewhere that is more competent in the medical sense, and also sensitive to the owner's experience. In February, our cat had a tooth extraction on Dr. Manrique's advice that it was cracked. The recovery was extremely difficult and resulted in several return visits and additional antibiotics. Complete recovery took about a month. In June, our cat started experiencing bouts of vomiting and diarrhea. I took him in, and after the examination, it was a suggested that he may have a hairball, so we began an endless series of food, probiotics, hairball remedies...and there was no improvement. Dr. Sanchez did an X-ray but did not find anything. Several stressful weeks later, he did a gastric blood test, with no conclusive result. Finally it was recommended that we take him to a more qualified site for an ultrasound ($), and that's when a mass in the colon was found. However, biopsy results ($$) were not conclusive. After getting little information and no guidance for several stressful days from South Loop Animal Hospital, we decided to take him to another vet. Thank God we did, because the new vet was able to do their own ultrasound, biopsy, and read cytology results within the hour!Surgery was scheduled the next day, and all this happened before getting a call from South Loop Animal Hospital with no suggestion besides sending him back to MedVet for a surgical biopsy. While this is a complicated case, realize that there are vets out there that can handle these types of complications without sending to you expensive and ineffective emergency clinics. Read Less
