I don't know where to begin. Dr. Green (and the entire staff at the Western Springs location) has been absolutely amazing. When Jack was diagnosed with diabetes several years ago, Dr. Green answered the hundreds of questions I had about the disease, causes, symptoms, treatments. He helped us learn how to administer twice-daily injections, how to better manage his diet, how to watch for signs that could indicate hypo- and hyperglycemia, and he provided answers to ALL of our q...uestions. I know that I can sometimes come across as a bit neurotic. I'm the type of person who asks lots of questions and researches every option in order to make good, educated decisions. And there has never been a time that I've been made to feel like anything other than a caring, loving pet parent. Dr. Green helped us navigate bringing two new kittens home and introducing them to Jack and their new home. They seem competent enough, but so very pricey. My cat went in for a urinary problem and came back with a head cold - constant stuffy nose sneezing and watering eyes - he's NEVER had a cold before and it started the day after he spent the afternoon at Village Vet. I'm not happy about that. I'm short on money right now, and even though Village Vet has never had a problem getting paid by me, (including last week's $400+ visit) didn't offer to work with me so my kitty could at least get the care he needs now, and then I could pay them in the near future - in less than a week. So, my cat came home sick, and now I can't afford to bring him in to be checked out. I miss Dr. Andres at Clark & Oak in Chicago - he's the best, wonderfully smart, and compassionate and caring enough to actually CARE enough to mean it. Care beyond just money, imagine that.Read Less

I cannot say enough positive things about Scott Kruse and the staff at Village Vet. I currently have 2 labs and have had a lab that passed away 5 years ago. Scott cares or has cared for all three of them. All three labs have had rare and possibly fatal events in their lives. Scott and his staff worked to find the problem and then treated them appropriately. His staff most recently, Amanda and Noel treated my dog Reggie as if he were there own. he was hospitalized for 6 days and they would all sit with him and make him feel comfortable. After a year of trying to get my dog's ear infection under control at a different vet and spending a lot of money on failed treatments, I switched to Village Vet. I am very happy I did, Dr. Hayna and the whole staff are very thorough and pleasant. Dr. Hayna actually listened to what I said and was sensitive to cost and treatment options that would fit my schedule and lifestyle. She was able to think out of the box and come up with a treatment plan that I was able to manage verses trying to get me to hold down a 38 pound terrified dog twice a day for ear treatments, which was not feasible. I don't think their pricing is out of line, especially compared to the other local vet I went to previously. I highly recommend Village Vet in Clarendon Hills! Read Less

I only have the highest opinion of Village Veterinary Practice. The office is clean and up kept really nicely. The entire staff is so friendly and accommodating, even on an emergency visit when my dog saw a different vet. The vet was thorough in his exam and did not pass over my dog just because he is not his regular patient. My dog is a patient of Dr. Hayna's and, in my opinion, she is the BEST vet in town. She is very thorough. I do my research and try my best to be in the know about things, but it's impossible to know every detail about veterinary care since I am not a vet myself. I really appreciate that Dr. Hayna takes the time to explain everything to me, especially recently when my dog was not feeling well. She even took the time to give me a follow up phone call to see how he was feeling. Having a sick pet can be such a scary experience, but Dr. Hayna made sure I knew what was going on at all times. She always made it a point at every visit to lay out all the options, gave her best recommendation, and let me decide how to proceed. She never gave any treatment without my consent, and she never pushed procedures on me. She is so great with my dog and seems like she genuinely cares about what is best for him, not just what procedures are most profitable for the practice. I have the utmost confidence that my dog is getting the best care at Village Veterinary Practice! Read Less

Dr. Jon Jorgenson cares more about how much money he can get out of you versus your animal's well-being. My Cocker Spaniel has had four teeth extracted on 2 separate occasions, without my consultation or approval. The first time was in 2011, when, during a routine teeth cleaning, Dr. Jon Jorgensen extracted two of her teeth without consulting me. He reassured me thatmy dog needed the extractions for her overall health. I trusted his explanation and made him agree that moving forward he had to consult with me before taking any such actions (something I would think is normal practice). The next year's annual teeth cleaning went without incident/ extractions so I felt that Dr. Jon Jorgenson had listened to me. However, in 2013 he did it again!! Dr. Jon Jorgenson extracted two more teeth without any discussion or permission. His rationale for this inappropriate action was that if he didn't extract two of her front teeth, we would have had to put her on antibiotics due to some possible gum disease. This could be true, but I wasn't given the opportunity to make the decision. He did! I was very upset and told Dr. Jon Jorgenson that his actions were unacceptable to me and agreed that he should have discussed the extraction before doing so (broken record!). An 'after the fact' apology doesn't help my dog hence this yelp review has been written so that you can be alerted to AVOID this vet and experience.Note: I have since moved my dog to another practice. Easily made a new patient appointment for our 16.5 year old Lhasa apso after moving to the area. Saw dr. Jorgensen because we read he had a special interest in elderly pets. Our dog's prior records were obtained and read before the appointment and the doctor was very honest and thorough when discussing our dog's situation. Basically our dog had a pretty severe case of canine cognitive disorder and we did not want her to suffer. The doctor ran bloodwork and after getting the results discussed all of our options. We made the incredibly difficult decision to put our dog to sleep but had it done in our home in an effort to spare her the trauma of traveling back to the vet's office. Her CCD brought on lots of anxiety. The doctor and his assistant came to our home and our beloved pet was able to comfortable pass at home with us petting her. We were very impressed with the whole process. We will definitely bring our next pet to this practice. Read Less

Been going here for a few years, top notch staff and great doctors.
Recent episode compelled me write this review.
Our dog got into something toxic while we were at work, rushed him to VVP and was given immediate attention and ended up taking a lot of the doctor's time but she seemed more than happy to do it. After some tests and an increasing temperature, needed to go to the ICU at a local animal hospital for overnight care. VVP arranged the transfer, spoke with the receiving doctors and explained the situation, and got us on our way quickly.
The staff is cheery, caring, and great at their jobs.
I've found their prices to be right in line with the vet we had downtown, not cheap but not exorbitant either.
Also feels good to patronize a local Clarendon Hills business.
I highly recommend Village Veterinary Practice.

Absolutely over the top when it comes to the invoices. We were OVER charged. On top of the problem that my pet came in for the clinic wanted us to bring him back for more work. I assume that he needed more work done but seeing the pre-estimate, OMG every little procedure has a charge. From pre-op tests to the catheter that will be used. On the advice of a friend, I took one of my cats to Village Veterinary Practice. The vet spent 50 minutes with me, not just helping treat my kitty's eye infection, but giving great advice. I have since been back for follow-ups, and again - I can't say enough about the quality of care we are receiving. Background: I had been taking my kitties to a cat specialist for almost 13 years. Although the vet was very capable, he could be condescending and abrupt. Over the years, the amount of time he spent in the exam room decreased while his prices jumped. It was time to make a change. The experience I had with Village Vet Practice versus the cat specialist was incredible. I am so delighted my precious little pals are in such great hands! Read Less

I would recommend Village Veterinary practice to anyone. They are a top notch practice and Maria at the front desk is wonderful also Read Less

Went for the first time the other day. I am so glad I read yelp reviews and went to this place. The only downside is it is pricy, but when it comes to your pet you know you're willing to spend whatever to keep them healthy. The place is extremely clean and the staff are nice and helpful. They talked with me and answered all my questions for an hour. They have me a new puppy packet with tons of information for a new owner. You could tell they really cared. They even have a separate door to leave out of so your pet isn't exposed to other sick animals in waiting area. Read Less

We are absolute disappointed and would not recommend this place for your pet medical treatment, unless you have a deep pocket. But if you decide to give it a try, I recommend you ask upfront to see the pre-estimate and be ready to be resuscitated. Read Less

Read Less
