what a wonderful practice. My diabetic chihuahua went into septic shock. We didn't have time to call ahead because my beloved friend had become unresponsive. As soon as I arrived I was met in the parking lot by the vet who rushed him into the treatment area. Unfortunately he did not make it after a 12 hour valiant effort by the staff to bring him back to me. I made the heart wrenching decision to let him go. I was supported completely by the vet and vet techs. They made an untenable situation bearable. I have been using their services since 2006 for my fur babies who require care outside of my veterinaries hours and I am so thankful this practice exists. In loving memory of Chu (2013-2018). The staff do not seem caring at all! All they are worried about is getting as much money as possible from families who are worried about their pets. They wanted $650 to keep our dog for 4 hours before we took her to the vet in the morning. The 4 hours of care didn't even include diagnosing what was wrong, blood work or anything. They make you think your pet is going to die unless you pay for their services. I will NEVER take any of my animals here again. Read Less

Animal emergency center of Collinsville is by far one of the more caring emergency centers in the area. The next closest emergency center is in Glen Carbon. Yes they are pricey ( and those who wrote a review complaining about that should know emergency care is expensive) but emergency care is expensive in general. They offer Care Credit to help aid in the out of pocket expenses. Also those using an emergency care center should also remember that in emergency care the most life threatening circumstances will take precedence over those who are not life threatening, just like in a regular hospital emergency room. We took our female shepherd in with bloat, a life threatening emergency. They met us outside since i had called and let them know we were in route. They got her back did an exam and an x ray and had a care plan in under five minutes. After we signed the paper work, the vet went right into surgery. The nurses and staff then went over procedures and answered any questions we may have had. The nurses were very caring, and understanding. When we were ready they collected our deposit, and made sure we didnt have any other questions. Then we were free to go because our dog would remain there for another few days. The staff called and gave us twice daily updates, and also put our mind at ease. I think our girl was in good hands and I fully trust this facility and their ability to handle emergency cases. The nurses and vets are amazing and this happened to be a holiday weekend so if they didnt sacrifice their family time, our girl may not still be here and on the read to recovery. Thank you Animal Emergency Center, your hard work and sacrifice is not unnoticed! Read Less

We went in with my hedgehog (mind you, I didnt expect thd doc to know too much but it was an emergency) he suddenly had a purple and red blister on his back foot that was the size of his foot. Our usual vet wasnt open so we rushed him here. We waited an hour to be seen, later they said they had a dog in the back having seizures so we would have to wait. When we were seen she picked up the hedgehog incorrectly which made him panick and ball up, he laid on his back curled into a poke monster and she stood there for what felt like hours trying to talk him into unrolling himself. Eventually I grabbed him and calmed him down so she could look. "seems like an infection" she said "we'll have to gas him and give him antibiotics." okay, perfect, just please help him. Took him to the back for about half an hour. He came back drowsy and curled up in a towel. We went to pay the fees and the woman at the counter says "so, she decided not to give your hedgehog antibiotics. She clipped his nails, it was probably just an ingrown toenail" what? So, you did nothing? "here's the bill, $120" uh... Okay? For what? "mostly for gassing him, and because we're an emergency clinic" okay fine. Im leaving and I read the paper that has the diagnosis on it. Says the foot pigmentation is just different on his feet which is why the coloring looked weird and that his nails were the problem. Okay... Ive known this hedgehog since he was born, he has never had that color on his foot. Oh well. Maybe it'll get better now that she took care of his nails. Less than a few days later, the blisters have spread to his other foot and he's vomiting. And come to find out, that dog in the back having seizures while we were there? It died on their table, and they wouldnt let the owner even see the body. He just had to walk out with no closure and no support or comfort from the staff. I dont think I trust this clinic anymore. Took him to another vet and they had no idea from the X-rays what this place was saying. He was diagnosed with kennel cough and treated by a local vet. The vet had horrible things to say about the base vets and that was alarming to me. Will never take my dogs here ever!!
