The staff at Horseshoe Lake have always treated our dog as if he was one of their own. They are always patient and loving to him and us as owners. When he was undergoing heartworm treatment they called us at least twice a week to check on him to make sure he was handling everything well. If I could give 0 stars, I think I would. Brought our dog into this vet, after coming home from to find him lethargic, having abdominal pain, and just not himself (he was fine in the morning). Doctor took an X-Ray and told us it looked like there was some bruising (external, like he got hurt playing), but nothing internally looked wrong with him. Sent us home with pain medication. My dog was dead within six hours of leaving Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital. We learned from a different emergency vet that he had blood in his abdomen, likely linked to undetected cancer, and had bled out internally. I will not be back. Read Less

Today was our first visit at Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital and so far I couldn’t be any happier. Every person I came into contact with was super sweet. My Dalmatian gets pretty stressed out at the vet and they spent time to make him comfortable and made notes to keep in his file so at his next appointment they already know what to do when we come in. I have had wonderful experiences with Dr.Jacob and Dr.Randla with my Coonhound. He’s a handful and has had many issues in the past six months. They have always been caring and available to answer questions that we may have. Jacey has also been great at the front desk. Our German Short haired pointer has had a really bad/odd cough lately after being really sick... I was very skeptical because my entire life I have always brought my animals to the same vet. I was 100% satisfied with this place. They got us in the same day we called to get our GSP's cough checked out. They even gave us an estimate of costs before doing anything! Our dog has always hated the vet (who doesn't really?!) but he loved it there and did such a good job. Dr. Jacob and his assistants were awesome. Dr. Gammon and her assistant were professional and extremely caring with no judgements. Dr. Gammon consulted with another dr for an inconclusive x-ray. I appreciated that. It is on the higher end of the price scale but the quality of care and professionalism makes it worth it. Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital continually takes great care of our girl Marshmallow. Marshmallow is a rescue from Partners for Pets and they suggested using HLAH. We've been seeing Dr. Randla & Dr. Jacob for the past year and a half and they are both always very knowledgeable and explain everything to us. Also very realistic and willing to listen to our concerns. Staff is always very welcoming to us and the staff seem to love to see her when we are there. Nothing says more to a fur-mom when your fur-baby is sick and the Dr. gets a consult of other drs for a decision. Or the dr calls different university's for help to diagnose your sick pet. I couldn't believe the price for a misdiagnosis. I'm very happy I choose to do the minimal here and take my dog to my vet. The main focus by this hospital was the money they wanted to charge me and not my dog's health. They were super fast in giving me the top estimate and offering care credit. It seemed like their priority was to add up the total and charge away, no thanks. My reg vet gave me the real diagnosis and fixed the issue by charging half the price. Read Less

Terrible experience all around, my dog was hit by a car, the police station found her and brought her here. After that I was charged almost 700 dollars for X-rays and medication, the next day they called me telling me my dog needed different medication and could not take the medicine that I had purchased from them, telling me I had to go purchase more, but when we picked her up they said that there were no broken bones or anything, 2 days later they called me again because she wasn't getting any better that is when they informed me that she had a broken pelvis,which they knew about the whole time, so we took her back up there to get looked at and when they were checking her out now all of a sudden they think she has broken legs, with that being said they don't give 2 craps about your animals all they care about is money, most pathetic facility I have ever been to, I will NEVER go back. I have always been treated professionally and respectfully. All the doctors work as a team. You don't get one vet, you can get all that experience. Yes they are pricey, but they are also very good doctors. I have three old pets, and they all get excellent care and most importantly, they all love to "go to the vet". Dr. Irving WAS my dogs dr till we found out he was trying to give her unnecessary surgery. She has had 1  surgery and when 6 months later she was having the same exact problem we took her back and he said that it was something else. My husband and I had a bad feeling and decided to get not 1 but 2 second opinions and was speechless when both drs told us that the problem WAS NOT EVEN CURABLE WITH SURGERY. It it just something that she will have to live with for the rest of her life but pills daily will help tremendously. I am heartbroken to think that he was going to put her through ANOTHER unnecessary surgery. I can't believe that there are vets that take advantage of loving pet owners that will do anything necessary for their fur babies....shame on you Dr. Irving. My husband and I have been taking our cats to see Dr. Randla since we moved here about 2 years ago. He has always been kind and attentive and taken very good care of them. This past weekend we had to have our oldest cat euthanized and it was one of the most painful experiences I have ever endured. Dr. Randla and all the staff at Horseshoe Lake were incredibly kind and supportive and our cat's passing was peaceful which we were both thankful for. Last night when I opened our mail I found a sympathy card from the office with a very kind message from Dr. Randla as well as a keepsake card with our cat's paw print on it. I was so surprised by this gesture that I burst into tears. We hadn't even thought to make a memento like that and I am so deeply grateful that they did! The staff and vets here provide great care for my dogs and cat.  They offer wellness packages and a yearly service that includes free regularly-scheduled vet visits and discounted emergency-scheduled vet visits.I initially became a client here because one of the vets that used to work with horses but doesn't anymore was willing to come to my barn when my horse went down.  I credit Dr. Ervin for saving my horse's life.  Soon after, we moved all of our other animals (dogs and cat) over to Horseshoe Lake Animal Hospital.  Now all of my animals get the best care.
