Let me start by saying that I’m crazy about my guinea pigs. When there’s something wrong most people think that “they’re just rodents” or that they don’t cost much and another one can be bought but these are my babies. I’ve been in quite a few times to see Dr. Bray with my two boys. One had a growth on his neck and I suspected a respiratory infection with my other one at one point. Dr Bray has always called to follow up on them a few days after the visit. He is always very thorough when seeing them. I know my boys are in the right hands when we go here. Got in at our appointment time on time... Katie Aksamit DVM. examined Clark told us what she thinks is wrong by our description of what's going on with him. Gave us options, we went what we thought would be a start and she said if not better tomorrow come in tomorrom she will be there to run more test if we wish. Clark is on the road to recovery. They helped me through everything I needed. As a young pet owner taking my dog to the vet for the first time was such a wonderful experience. They bared with me while my dog was barking. I was looking for a place where I can finds a preventative care plan. So glad I chose this vet. Even after constantly calling and emailing they bared with me😃. Same day I also got Figo Pet insurance and they helped me get my Wellness Exam fast! My pet was neutered same day. I could not have afforded a vet without the preventative care plan. I believe more Owners should take advantage of this plan. (Paw Plan). The ladies at the front desk were extremely kind and helpful. Not once did I feel pressured or discomfort. Glad I chose this vet. The rating given does not depict all the visits made, just today. My "beef" is with the front desk staff. 2 young & ignorant ladies that either need more training or a new profession. My husband and I brought our 2 dogs in for their annual exams. We are on a fixed income so saving the money needed is very hard and unfortunately our much loved pets go without until we can save enough. So, my husband was giving details about the dogs' history. Granted, he can be long winded, bu...t not enough to warrant eye-rolling and walking away from him as he (my husband) was asking if we could get 2 separate receipts for the insurance we carry on the pets, for the claim forms. I think she didn't know I was with him & rolled her eyes. (dark haired girl) Then, another incident followed when I asked the blonde what's done with the records of deceased pets. She smirked at me after asking dark haired girl the question and was snarky with her reply, "we keep them" so I informed the girls our cat passed away yesterday. And lastly, my Great Dane wrenched my hand and bent my nail back into the nail bed, and I sort of shook my hand and BOTH girls laughed. Blondie laughed so hard she actually walked away from the desk while the other peered around at her and continued snickering. They might have compassion for fur babies, but people? Not so much. Again, this is the first time I had any interaction with either of them. Thinking of changing their care. Dr. Bray has been our main Doctor for the past 20+ years. He has worked on our snakes, rabbits, sugar gliders, cats, and dogs and hamsters. This man is a genius. My fiancé and I just adopted a bonded pair of dogs, a family member recommended we take them to Crest Hill animal hospital. We scheduled for the same day and we were so happy with our visit. The staff members were all friendly and gave us plenty of advice on training two dogs at the same time and keeping them healthy and active. My cat lives with FLUTD and any time it flares up, they have always been able to see him right away. We've had two less than stellar experiences with two different dogs. We took our girl here when she stopped eating, and after some tests the vet told us a diagnosis of a bleeding tumor and most likely serious cancer with little to no survival rate. When she told us, it was like she was reading off a menu. She wasn't rude, but there was just no compassion for the fact that we were just told we would very likely lose our pet soon. We were marched through a bunch of information ...without the opportunity to even catch a breath from the news. To be fair, they knew what they were talking about and were very up front and honest about expectations and didn't seem like they would try to rip us off. With our other dog, he was very reactive with them when clipping nails and then later for shots. He needed to be muzzled and they flagged him as aggressive which I initially agreed with. When I watched a vet there try to give him a shot, though, I saw how she seemed to be jumpy and skittish even though he was already muzzled. We took both dogs to a different vet and the experience was like night and day. Whereas this one was all business and always seemed rushed, our new vet makes us feel like they have all the time we need and compassionately supported us through treatment. When we took our "aggressive" dog to the new vet for shots he got through with no issues or reaction at all and needed no muzzle! You could see a serious difference in the confidence level of the vet and staff that made us all relaxed. Most people who have dogs and cats can go to any vet.  I have hedgehogs.  My hoglettes are my babies.  This is the only place I was able to get care for my little darlings without traveling a great distance.     Dr. Bray is very tender, gentle, and caring with my tiny girls.  The reception staff is very attentive and caring.  I'm so pleased I have such a quality place to care for my hedgehogs.  It's so difficult to find a veterinarian who handles exotic pets. I am thankful to have found a place that not only will cater to my hedgies but is exceptional in the quality of care my girls receive. The pricing is very reasonable and I never feel as if I've been taken advantage of.  Honesty in this day and age seems to be a privilege.  They are very honest in a tender way.  I could not be more pleased.        If you have an exotic pet and you need medical care for them, please make an appointment.  You will thank me later!   I have every confidence in the staff and the care they provide! We picked this office because we were new to the area at the time and just picked a vets office at random thinking they are about all the same. I have taken my cat and dog here each once. Was not super impressed. They want to squeeze every last penny out of you.... seems like. For my cat, I ended up going to another vet who had a more reasonable price for his procedure. I called and asked them a question one day pertaining to my dog. It was not an emergency but the lady assured me they would call right back because she didn't know the answer....... it's been 3 months and still no call. Glad I didn't hold my breath! Called again recently for something. The same thing happened again. They seem truly unorganized and the front desk staff, imo, are not very knowledgeable about tests or procedures. They can't answer a simple question over the phone but they certainly know how to mail you reminders every month from everything to vaccines to teeth cleanings. The most amazing place! I take my Guinea Pig, Ghost, here. The exotics vet is thorough and informative. He really pays attention and loves the animals very much himself. He listens and has a great memory, and is willing to give you information anytime you need it. You can tell he really loves animals and is honestly worried about their welfare. My doxie had an ear infection. I was able to get her in the same day I called, which was wonderful since the weekend was coming. Staff is always so nice there, they know my Sadie by name. I have been going to this vet clinic for at least 7 years.  All of the people there have treated me and my wonderful dog, Ozzie with great concern and respect.  I never feel that they are forcing me to get unnessary tests or vaccinations.  Having a pet and taking good care of them can be very expensive but I have always felt that the prices were very fair.  I would reccomend this clinic to anyone in need of pet care. This will always be our 'go to' vets office. The staff are all very kind , and informative . Our ferrets see the exotic Dr. Ronald Bray who is amazing , and our kitties see Dr. Katie . Every single time we go in , we are greeted personally by the receptionists , especially Penny. She's so sweet and interacts with our animals. Having quite a few animals calls for frequent visits , but they are always able to give us a good price. This will be our favorite and official office until the day we no longer have animals. About 12 months ago I that this place was great. Was I so wrong about 6 months ago my dog was sick so I took her in and they couldn't find any my name or my pets name in there computer. Then there going to make you wait 2 hrs for there screw up. So I told them to forget it and went to Plainfield vet clinic on rt59 they treated me and my dog great . I don't even know where to begin. First, I'll start by saying that I created a Yelp account just to rate this place so that no one else has the same experience as me. I have only been coming here for over a year (because my previous vet retired), but almost every visit has resulted in a problem. I have two cats, one is 3 yrs old and the other is 15 yrs old. I took my older cat in for his yearly check up with Dr. Ziesmer. First off, they have two different scales to weigh the animals on. One on the counter and a larger one on the floor (neither are accurate). I weighed my cat on both and there was a difference of almost 2 lbs. That may not sound like a big difference, but for a small cat it is. Then we were put into a room and waited about 5 minutes for the doctor to come in, before we were asked by the receptionist (loud blonde lady) to move to a different room. Then she placed a muzzle on the table for us to put on my cat. When I asked what that was for (I've never muzzled my cat before) she said that it was in the record that my son asked for the cat to be muzzled. I don't have a son, and the last time I was at the vet I went with my 65 yr old father. When I asked what she was talking about (because I was totally confused) she acted like I was accusing her of murder and just kept repeating "I don't know, it was in the record!". It wouldn't have even bothered me to muzzle him, I was mostly upset because I wasn't getting an answer. All I can think of is they wrote down the wrong information in the wrong record? Then Dr. Z came in to vaccinate him and stuck the needle through his skin and the medicine went on the table. She said that she couldn't see. The lightening in the room was TERRIBLE but blamed it on him because he is a black cat, and she left the room to get another syringe filled with the vaccine. She stuck him again through his skin and the vaccine went on the table AGAIN. Finally, she went to get another syringe and stuck him again and finally managed to give him the vaccine instead of table. YES THAT WAS THREE TIMES SHE STUCK HIM WITH A NEEDLE IN THE SAME SPOT. He is an older cat and was very sore when we brought him home and well in to the next day. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Go to the Crest Hill Cat and Dog Clinic. A friend recommended this place to me a couple years back. I liked them at first because their prices were reasonable, their hours good, and I didn't feel pressured to get unnecessary services. They did our cat's spaying and it was easy to drop off and pick up.  Our cat came through very well with no complications. I love them now after we picked up our dog Missi yesterday from boarding there after a 10-day vacation. She is sometimes very anxious but they spend time and really care for the pets they board rather than just keep them caged and fed. They offer upgrades, but their standard service is wonderful just on its own. Read Less

I love this place! They take such good care of my two mutts, and they are always super quick to get me in and out while still giving the dogs a ton of attention. I am also always late because my work schedule is crazy and I just call and warn them and they are always accomommodating. The prices are very reasonable and I think they have even "missed" the cost of an office visit when I had an extrodinarily large bill. I just can't say enough about Dr. Brandy! She's was awesome with my puppy when she first came to us and was very timid and afraid. She gave great advice and the staff is always just a phone call away. Found these guys on good old Facebook and liked what people were saying. Thought since they were kind of close to home we would give them a go. We tried them out for the 1st time about a year ago. My boyfriend brought home a kitten he rescued at work that was in the hood of a car. Great another cat is what I thought AT FIRST but my God he was easy to fall in love with. We went there and they took suck great care of him. Anytime we needed to go there for him we got great service. I guess the decor is maybe a LITTLE dated compared to other places I have been to for my cat BUT I'll take that any day since the doctors are good and the desk staff is nice. We had to run there this morning for our other older cat (could not hold down food) and they really took care of him and let us ask our million questions. They are worth a try and they won't stiff you with the bill. The doctor we always get makes sure our cats are taken care of and that we are not over paying. Pets can be so expensive.Cheers! Read Less
