My dog is very nervous about anyone except for my husband and myself. What I call "rescued dog syndrome". However, he is always on his best behavior with Dr. Johnson. She knows his personality and I think truly enjoys him. This is the best place I have taken him (and I used to work as a veterinary technician). She shows him compassion and even comments specific things about him when he has been there for procedures, that make me know she really does know my dog. I will continue to take my dog here and if I get another pet in the future, I wouldn't go anywhere else. If I moved out of the area I would actually drive pretty far just to bring my doggie here. Dr. Johnson diagnosed a problem on my dog's foot that a previous vet couldn't figure out. She spends lots of time with my dogs, never seems rushed and is very thorough. Very clean office and exam rooms.. Read Less

My family have been bringing our cats here for around 8 years (at least) and we are always happy. I recently brought my brand newly adopted kittens in for a checkup with Dr. Johnson. Long story short, my dog cut his paws open in our house as he got scared and knocked all of our wine and beverage glasses off our little wine bar. So pleased with how everything has turned out with Bailey since he broke off part of his tooth on Friday. My wife and I have been taking our dog here for 5 years and they're always on top of everything, even when she's being a mess. My wife has actually been taking all of get animals here since she was a child and swears by their work which I've grown to fully agree with. When our rescue was new (2 weeks in) we learned that she had heart worms and they were able to successfully treat her into being worm free. A wonderful recovery has given us our furry little kid before the fleshy ones and I know that with this vet on call that she'll continue to live a long and happy tail wagging life.Read Less

I've been coming here for probably ten years.  I started coming here mainly because Dr. Greiner was the brother of my husband's friend. He has since retired.  Burr Ridge has taken care of all three of our dogs over the years. Two of our large boys went over the rainbow bridge two years ago, and Dr Adkessen and Kelly were so kind and caring as we said goodbye to our fur babies. They have a separate grieving room for this purpose with its own exit which is considerate to the families going through this difficult time. Today, Dr. Palmer took care of my basenji for his annual checkup, and he was thorough with covering everything and answering my questions. I liked him.  The clinic is very clean and nicely appointed. Their prices are on the high side, though.  I feel they have gone up in price since they built their new bigger facility.  Today's visit with heartworm preventative and blood work was $369!!   Keep in mind that didn't include any vaccinations. Ouch!  I am getting a $40 rebate on the preventative so my bill will be $329 once that is received. Read Less

Dr. Rooney was with us from the start of this journey and up until his follow-up visit post-surgery. Dr. Rooney was incredibly kind, caring, and patient with Bentley, my husband, and myself. In addition to his incredible demeanor in the office, he also took the time to call both my husband and I to allow us to express concerns and answer any questions we had. (More information I added here than on Facebook!)Just went to bring Orlie for his yearly wellness exam! I've been wanting to write a review of this but I keep forgetting!  So here it is!Used to go to the one one Frontage Road a long time ago when we only had a rabbit before because it was literally a minute away from our house.  We went to the Blum Animal Hospital previously in Chicago for Orlie, but decided it was way too far to go back and forth.  When BRVC opened their new location up, we decided to go back and bring our dog here and never turned back!  Dare I say we should have went here i the first place than to the one in Chicago!  (Yes they're that good, even BETTER!)Awesome, caring, and passionate doctors!  Dr. Palmer was with him since day one and we always try to get him whenever Orlie comes in for appointments.  He is amazing!  Very meticulous with his examinations and informative about any topic and concern that I have with Orlie and will stay with you until all your questions are answered.  Also, Orlie loves Dr.Palmer and is very attentive with him and always gives him kisses.  He never liked the other vets he has had (Orlie can be a "bratty princess"), and that says something about Dr. Palmer and the rest of the staff here at the clinic.  We have also met Dr. Sexton and Dr. Rooney and they are very good as well and very nice to Orlie.  Basically any doctor you will see is very good at what they do and will do all they can for your "kiddies", as Dr. Palmer says.The caring staff is amazing as well, they do all they can to make everything comfortable.  They will try and get you in if you need to schedule an appointment last minute.  The technicians are amazing and helpful as well!You have the option from them to also lead you to a room if your dog doesn't get along well with other dogs and will bring everything to you once you are done with your appointment so you can leave right after to avoid the other dogs that're around.  They also have a room where the examination platform moves down for the ones that are hard to carry or are older.Let's not forget the Parents of pets!  They have a Keurig Stand for the ones that would like coffee and they have boards all around to update you on important information you need to know, events, lost dogs, etc.They also had an Open House recently which I wish I was able to go to to see a Behind the Scenes tour of the facility, but hopefully they'll have another one again in the Future :).  OVERALL can you see the theme of this review?  Burr Ridge Veterinary Clinic = AWSOMENESS :) . I recently switched vets due to an emergency with my Toyger cat and not happy with the lack of answers and level of care from my previous vet. Dr. Sexton and the entire staff have been been outstanding. Not only was she familiar with the Toyger breed (unlike previous vet), she has been on top of her game and every commmunication is familiar with my case. My partner and I have been using Burr Ridge Veterinary for our dog for the last five and a half years.  I absolutely love the staff and vets who work here.  Always top notch service.  As nervous as our dog gets when we take him to the vet... he always seems to be comforted here by the lovely caring staff.My most recent experience here has led to this review though.  My partner's grandmother also brings her dog to Burr Ridge.  Very suddenly, and without any warning, her dog passed away at home.  When it was first discovered - while everyone was trying to figure out what to do - I called Burr Ridge to describe the situation and make sure we have done everything we could for our beloved family pet.  The nurse on the phone was more than helpful and even consoling and gentle with me on the phone.  She walked me through what I need to do next and made sure they would be ready for us when we brought her in.Upon bringing the dog to the office wrapped in a blanket, they guided us to a room to the left of the main counter.  Nurses assisted us by holding open doors, offering water, tissues or anything they could do for us.  The room was a family 'mourning' room.... Something very similar to what you would find in any funeral home.  Dimly lit, a large carpet in the middle of the room and seating against the walls... plenty of tissue boxes located in arms reach.  A nurse came in and assessed the dog... offered necropsy service, but also helped ease grandma with trying to best answer the questions of "why".  Of all the times I have been to this facility over the years, I didn't realize this room existed.  While it was comforting at the time, I do hope I don't have to utilize that room again.  Words really cannot express how impressed I am with Burr Ridge Veterinary.  They have always provided excellent care for my dog.  I've always recommended to others.  However, this experience has further solidified my feelings for this facility... absolutely excellent!  Thank you! Dr Rooney was great and the staff was also very friendly and helpful.  They were very wonderful with my older cat and respected my desire to stay with her at all times.BUT they apparently have a glitch in their labwork system in that if a sample is sitting outside too long before it's picked up, the sample is corrupted.  Which sadly, is what happened to me.  Which is bad enough that they want to re-take the sample and torture my poor kitty with another vet visit, but they also expect me to PAY AGAIN for something that was not my issue!And also regarding the paying...the charges were quite a bit higher than I expected from what I was told on the phone...e.g. I was told to bring a poop sample, but not told that it would cost me $24. I absolutely love Burr Ridge Veterinary Clinic. When I decided to buy my furry friend five years ago, I had no clue where to take him, but luckily one of my friends was in veterinary school at the time and recommended Burr Ridge. Thank goodness!The staff there is so nice and friendly. You can tell they genuinely care about animals and are not just "doing their job." As soon as my dog and I walk in they greet us, tell my dog he is "so cute," pet him, and give him lots of attention. The wait is never long and they have treats on hand for the pets. Once, when my dog woke up with a bad ear infection (to the point where he wouldn't stop shaking his head back and forth), I took off work, called as soon as they opened, they understood I had taken off work and got us in right away! How many dogs actually LIKE going to the vet?? Well, my dog LOVES it. If you live close enough to take your pets there, I would highly recommend doing so! Read Less

I would highly recommend Burr Ridge Clinic , Dr. Gregg Greiner and his entire wonderful staff are my hero's.Not only did they give me 2 more loving years with my cat, but after a short stay at BR clinic and meds. to treat her problem (that my other vet clinic could not even diagnose properly) she was fine until this month, her 19th birthday when I had to do the humane thing and have Dr. Greiner put her to sleep.But Dr. Greiner and his staff made the whole sad event a peaceful and gentle time for both my precious old cat and me. We have been taking our family pets there for over 20 years, since when they were located on Frontage Rd. in Burr Ridge. The new building (on Cass ave. in Darien) is absolutely beautiful and state of the art. I have an incredible amount of confidence in the abilities and knowledge of the staff and veterinarians. You will be treated with respect, and know that your pet's health is their primary concern. I would recommend them to anyone who is not satisfied with the current level of care their pets are receiving and to new pet owners alike. Give them a chance, and you will not be disappointed! I was a bit concerned that my dog was given oral steroids for a skin problem, severe itching/flaking, and no diagnosis. I would see people coming and going from the office with prednisone prescriptions for skin conditions. This went on for months. My dog was always thirsty and had to urinate every few hours because the steroids would raise his sugar levels. It was awful, plus it would alter his mood. After much research, I finally realized he had a flea bite allergy. I gave him medicated baths and put him on frontline. His itching and skin infections resolved and everyone commented on his beautiful coat. I advised a doctor of my findings and that I was not very happy about the service. The doctor was very unimpressed and said ""well good for you!"". I found another vet. Read Less
