I had 2 new adopted kittens and Deerfield Animal Care Center was wonderful through all of their vaccines, my questions, and when it was time to have them spayed and neutered. One of my kittens had a heart murmur and Dr. Stern went out of his way to speak with a heart specialist and find an inexpensive test we could administer to determine the possible extend of heart damage. It was such a huge cost savings and put my mind to rest that our little kitten could survive the neutering procedure. I've never had a vet care so much and look for ways to help me manage the procedures emotionally and financially and always available to get on the phone and answer my questions. You will not find a more caring and professional vet for your furry friends. I can't recommend Deerfield Animal Hospital enough. Read Less

My 18 year old cat became a new patient here. Dr Sterner listened to my concerns and developed a plan that incorproated my input for how I can best provide care for my aging cat. I love Deerfield Animal Care Center! We took our puppy there for his first vet visit, and even though we could choose a vet closer to our house, it's worth the drive for the TLC our puppy receives. Prices are reasonable. I love that it's a small vet, so I feel that the vet knows my dog well. Read Less

Under new management, the Deerfield Animal Care Center is now one of the best vets in the neighborhood. While the appearance hasn't changed much, inside and out, the vet techs and doctors are top-notch. We brought in a kitty that a friend had rescued from a parking lot, and they were able to squeeze in a last-second appointment at the end of that day. It's a good thing we took her in, as the kitty was - unbeknownst to us - gravely ill. Once we saw the x-rays, and got the lab results, they operated on her after-hours. They were able to give us a fair price, because she was a rescue cat. The kitty managed to pull though, and seems to be in excellent condition, thanks to the efforts of everyone at Deerfield Animal Care Center. We'll continue to take our pets there. Read Less

We bring our yellow lab here, and now we will continue bringing our rescued-from-a-parking-lot Maine Coon here too!! Dr. Sterner was absolutely amazing with the dog, very patient, and so good with her. When we wound up rescuing a stray cat, we brought her in, and they got her in the same day. (The receptionist, who I suspect is more than "just" a receptionist, is absolutely fantastic. Always very patient and cheerful!) Dr. Sterner ran x-rays, found out she was a mess in her belly. (Will spare Yelpers the details.) He wound up doing an emergency spay on her, after hours, because she might not have made it if it went on any longer. She wound up being pretty mad at everyone, but she made it through the surgery, despite a 50/50 chance of making it. (I always ask for honest less than pleasant news.) I cannot possibly say enough how awesome this new vet is. I'm so grateful that we are fortunate enough to have him at this clinic now, and will stay with this vet as long as we humanly possible. I've been to a few vet clinics for my late Abbie. And have horror stories I can tell until tomorrow's sun comes up. But I won't. Because Dr Sterner gave my husband and I true faith that there is a such thing as a wonderful veterinarian. We just left after our one week visit with our Khloe and he was attentive, caring, and full of knowledge.   I would recommend this Animal Hospital to anyone and everyone who asks. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SERVICE! The staff is professional, upbeat, responsive!! and accommodating. Dr. Sterner is super amazing in how he communicates with my 3 puppies by making them feel comfortable, safe and cared for. Dr Sterner is the best thing that has ever happened to the Vet world, particularly to my dog Dino. A few years ago Dino was diagnosed with IMHA (auto-immune disease) and in our opinion potentially not going to make it. Thanks to the dedication, knowledge and continuous support of Dr Sterner, Dino bounced back and is still with us today. Dr Sterner treated Dino at the Naperville Animal Hospital but has since relocated up to the Deerfield Animal Care Center. So if you are looking for a new vet, look no further. We met Dr. Sterner yesterday during an initial exam for our new family member, Gypsy. He was knowledgeable, kind, caring and made sure we understood everything he discussed. After a devastating experience at Banfield on 8/10/16, when our 6 year old poodle died during a routine dental cleaning, we are guarded about vet care, to say the least. My pup Denver & I absolutely adore Dr. Sterner! He always spends adequate time with us, explains everything, and is always eager to know about you/your animal and how things are going, with a smile. Deerfield Animal Care Center has a new owner Dr. Sterner. He  is the best Veterinarian I have ever ever met in my entire life!!!!! My mother's dog is very very sick with pancreatitis and diabetes.  Dr. Sterner has assisted my mother and since she is 90 years old and the center is 1 block away he went over twice to help her by giving our Otto a shot.  He is caring and sweet and stayed with my mom and Otto for about a half hour.  He is intelligent, well qualified, knows the newest treatments and has the warmest best attitude.  We were all crying the other day because we had to take Otto to the hospital and Dr. Sterner followed up with 3 calls and several text messages.  AGAIN I'VE NEVER NEVER MET a better qualified and nicer veterinarian maybe because he's originally from Iowa!   His receptionists answered my multiple calls and never got annoyed by me!   Price competitive even to Petco, outstanding service and a wonderful Doctor! I have just rescued a puppy and brought her to The Deerfield Animal Care Center (formerly Deerfield Animal Hospital). My family has used this hospital for the past 45 years. Dr. Miller's knowledge and skill base continue to hold him in high regard. I have found Jan to be patient, polite and helpful with resources with my many calls and questions. They seem fairly priced and cheaper than some of their competitors. This may be the result of the DAH not updating their decor as it is identical to my memories of it in the 70's. No fancy granite counters or floors but as a result, their focus is on the service and not the presentation and providing an affordable & comfortable experience for your pet needs. Read Less

DO NOT GO TO THIS VET!!! They treat their customers terribly!!!  We have been bringing our family dog to Deerfield Animal Hospital since 2008 and have been a very loyal customer until today. Brought our dog in for an appt to have a bad ear infection treated. Attempted to bring her in a week before but to no avail.  The office closed early the day before Thanksgiving and had to allow our dog to continue to suffer scratching at her infected ear and shaking her head waiting the entire weekend to be seen. That following Monday after finally getting an appointment and an "open office", I was told upon arrival for her checkup, DR. MILLER WOULD NOT SEE HER because we had a balance due and that he had sent us to collections. I offered to write a check on the spot to take care of the balance, they would not take the check and demanded cash to which I did not have on hand of course. They had no reasoning as to why they would not take a personal check from us considering we were loyal, long standing clients and had never bounced a check with them EVER!!!. I explained that this was obviously a huge misunderstanding and  I asked to speak with Dr. Miller who was hiding in his office regarding why our account was sent to collections without even one courtesy call informing us of what was going on. He refused to come out to speak with me and resorted to have his receptionist handle the matter. She of course had zero explanation and was very apologetic. I drove off to the cash station and returned with cash to pay the bill.  Insult to injury, after this whole debacle, upon reviewing my checking account when I got home found that A CHECK WAS WRITTEN A MONTH BEFORE our account was sent to collections for the full balance.  Needless to say they owe us a credit now. THIS WAS THEIR MISTAKE!!!!!  I WONT BE RETURNING TO THIS VET FOR SERVICES EVER AGAIN!!!! It is painfully obvious, that DR. MILLER SHOULD IS OLD AND SHOULD RETIRE!!!  Poor record keeping, dot matrix printers, outdated computers and computer programs and run down office decor that looks like they belong back in the 80's.  The office is overly antiquated and needs someone to bring it into the 21st century. I plan to tell everyone in my neighborhood to stay away from this practice. Read Less
