I brought my 19 year old Bichon in 6/25/18 to have her nails clipped, her ears cleaned and a mat removed from her eye. Dr. Luciano is who saw Sissy and she has seen my other dogs in the past without complaint which is why I continue to go to Wright. This was not the case on the 25th. I don’t know if Dr. Luciano was having a bad day but she proceeded to “examine”(she spent less than 3 minutes with her) Sissy and informed me that “she’s really bad off”. She’s 19! Yes she’s bl...ind. Yes she’s deaf. Yes she only has a few teeth left. Yes she wears a diaper. Again 19. I did not bring her in to be told how “bad off” she is. She’s old. She still gets around. Still wags her tail. She doesn’t complain. The fact that I’ve had her for 19 years should say something about the care she’s been given. I explained to the tech that I didn’t expect the doctor to make me feel like I needed to put my dog down. I also explained that if the vet didn’t remove the mat I would do it myself. I was in tears. They took Sissy in the back for less than 10 minutes and told me they were unable to remove the mat. Dr. Luciano came back in and wanted to give me an estimate to put her under and remove it. SHE’S 19! It would be too much of a risk to anesthetize her. Dr. Luciano then went on to explain that if the mat wasn’t removed it would cause an infection that would eventually kill her. They also didn’t clean her other eye. After $225.00 I brought her home and cleaned BOTH her eyes myself. The mat is gone and all it took was some time and a little patience. I have left a message for the practice manager to return my call. We will see what happens. I spoke to the practice manager and my bill has been credited $145.00 and my next visit for my Bichon will be at no charge. Dr. Luciano is no longer with the practice. I will continue going here. Originally when I first moved to Des Plaines I had left a 5 star review but after I have gone several times for vaccinations/other issues, I've become very uncomfortable with them. Personally for me, I care about the way you treat my dog "Rumer" and myself. Several times when I've called on the phone either to make an appointment or cancel - you receive this what I can only describe as a nasty tone which is really unbecoming for anyone who works in customer service. Secondly, previously when I brought my girl in for her rabies, I pointed out to the vet her ears were really pink inside. Later and I mean awhile later her ears looked horrible, come to find out she had a Bacterial Infection which no one seemed to catch the first time around. I want my dog cared for as I'm cared for - she is like a child to me and I just don't feel comfortable anymore taking her there. While I understand most vets want to take the dogs in the back room to give shots or as in her case to put the antibiotic in her ear, I want her in the same room with me because she gets her reassurance from me and when she came back from them doing her ears, she hasn't acted the same since and it's been two weeks. So long story short, I'm going to another vet and the only reason I had picked her was location and previous reviews I had read. Read Less
