Came in super late because my dog was panting and shaking and I was petrified. They saw me so quickly and the doctor was SO kind. My dog fell in love with him and that exam went so well. They diagnosed her and gave me a treatment plan that I could afford and now my baby is doing just fine. I love my current vet but after this visit I am switching to Dundee! Amazing service provided by people that really care. My usual vet couldn't or wouldn't get my cat who had been a patient for 15 years in for an emergency appointment during normal working hours. Even after I explained that I thought the cat was gravely ill. I called Dundee Animal Hospital and they got the cat in within a half hour. The cat was gravely ill and was euthanized. I was so relieved to have been able to provide a humane ending for my cat. I have found a new veterinarian for all my future pet care. Read Less

When we had to make the unfortunate decision to euthanize our dog, they were exceedingly gracious and sympathetic. My dog was very sick on a Sunday morning, so I took her to the Dundee Animal Hospital, which is open 24 hours. The vet saw her immediately and prescribed medication for her illness. I highly recommend this animal hospital, and would take my dog (or cat) to them again. They also have a separate entrance for exotic pets. If I were not extremely happy with my local animal hospital, I would go to the Dundee Animal Hospital on a regular basis. Read Less

I have been going to Dundee Animal hospital for well over a decade, and I used to think that paying the premium was worth the price of the quality of service I got from the hospital.  Unfortunately about 2 years ago the quality went way down, I saw treatment of animals that I thought was questionable.  I also had my very senior dog go in back for an x-ray and come back with a chin split open gushing blood.  I even said to the tech before she took her, "Please be VERY careful, she is old and not stable on her feet, make sure she's well taken care of!"  I called recently to inquire about having a test done that this hospital because of its size would have more affordable access to.  I was told that because I hadn't been in recently for an exam, that they would charge me for a full exam along with the blood work.  I offered to have my dog's records forwarded from the other hospital that we go to, but they said that would not make a difference.  Apparently they are only interested in collecting the extra money, and not interested in just doing the right thing.I will no longer recommend this hospital to my friends and family, when money overshadows welfare it's time to re-evaluate your model. Really really helpful quality vet here, open 24hrs even on holidays, for its was thanksgiving night when i had to go here on account my personal vet (who also cares for my horses) was not open this night , i was in need of a vwt and called around and found these wonderful folks , so caring so understanding, see i had to send my Best Friend to Heaven that night and these folks were there for my guy (12yr German shepherd, Ali Von Huas Nicholas) and me !!!!! I would like to Thank Dr. Anne Grott who was able to help with my poof doggie Jade who has been suffering with blood shot eyes, itching, ears, eyes, nose, and her crying in pain. I had taken her in and got different things for her ears even though I explained all of the symptoms, and they didn't work :( I was getting tired of taking her in, so I gave her benadryl which really didn't help her much. She was still crying, itching, blood shot eyes. I hate taking her to the vet she hates going, I have to carry her in there. They are nice and understanding however its been a nightmare for her. **GREAT NEWS*As of 12/22/2016..since she saw Dr. Anne Grott, who I explained everything too, gave me ointment for her eyes, and pills for her allergies, so she is getting better, since the last 1 1/2 years of suffering. Thank you so much! She is getting better, if anything, I will have to continue on a regular basis. I brought my dog to this place for bloat he was a strong healthy 4 year old pure bred Great Dane . The doctor from the USSR was more interested in about the money than saving my dogs life. My 10 year old son witnessed this. He wanted 4000-6000 to preform the operation but would agree to 2000 up front I had 1500 that's all the money I had and offered the other 500 on Friday but he wanted 2000 up front . We were 500 away from saving my dogs life and my children and our family from heart break. He said he could try and tube him and if that worked it would be like winning the lottery. He said that was between 700-1000 and then if that fixed is stomach we can do the stomach staple as an elective procedure and that would be 800 and he would be fine same operation just non emergency and way less. How is that right. Needless to say it did not work and my son begged for the life of jos friend that fell on deaf ears. Sad thing is as I write this I now have the 4000 such is life. Our buddy IKE is now dead my children are heart broken. The only nice thing I could say is the Vet tech cried with us and comforted My son and my self. His remains will be returned to us in two weeks and I will never step foot in that place ever again. Read Less

I would never even give one star to this place but yelp requires it. I had a horrible experience at this place with my bird. I went there in hopes that the dr could trim her beak. The first thing I shouldn't have allowed was letting the vet take her out of the room. I kept hearing my bird chirping and I knew she must be getting stressed. The vet walked back in without my bird and I knew she had died by the look on her face. She could not explain what happened. I'm completely heartbroken. Dundee Animal Hospital is like family, from taking great care of my exotic pets when I was a kid to helping me through the recent loss of my beloved dog Sufi they are truly one of a kind. Dr. O'Brien has always been there and provided support and guidance above and beyond a veterinarians normal line of work (a phone call, a friendly voice sympathetic to the circumstances and explained what happened after my pet was too sick to make it to Dundee from Naperville). I just received a note that Dundee Animal Hospital made a donation in memory of Sufi to help with companion animal research and service at UofI's college of veterinary medicine. This place absolutely sucks. If I would have had an English speaking doctor, maybe the communication would have been better. We brought our dog in at the request of a doctor in South Elgin. After 2 hours they took her in. Told us it didn't look good and she would have to get surgery to allow our dog to urinate. Fine. We kept having issues about credit and pricing and had to keep waiting in the room for the office assistant to communicate with the doctor over simple issues because we couldn't understand him well. We did the surgery, came back 3 hours later and are told she had cancer. Fine. We get it. Then, they say we should put her down at the end of three days. We asked the doc later, "so, three days" and he went out and came back and said, "well, possibly a week at the most " and told us she would not recover at all. Dr. Gurevich is terrible. We understood the options. UNTIL we brought our dog for a follow up a week later at a different hospital. They took her in to inspect the catheter and said she looked great and we told her the story of how we didn't like Dundee. They looked up the Gurevich and said he's only an emergency room doctor and not a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. She mentioned that as long as shes eating and healthy and tail wagging, then we should ride it out and keep a look out for signs. It was three weeks later we had to bring her in again and they suggested a pill for pain relief. After three weeks of this, we learned her tumor diminished in size and she was able to have her catheter taken out. She lived another 3 and a half weeks before she really started showing signs of distress, not eating, and what not. If we stuck with Dundee, our dog would have been dead in May. The doctor showed no sympathy. The assistant had no clue what to do or any answers regarding anything payment wise. It was sickening for a family with a dog who we thought, at the time, was almost dead. Thanks for the support, Dundee. I will stick with my pets and the real doctors who support and offer their love to their pets. Read Less

I have been going to the Dundee location since 1987 and I wouldn't switch. I drive an hour to get there, the customer service is wonderful and so helpful. Dr Huebner has been my furbabies doctor since I started there and he has always been great!!!! If you are looking for good doctors with a staff of very caring people, this is the place for you. Price is Price. Having an animal cared for in a medical setting is going to be expensive anywhere you go. That being said, the cost here is about the same as the cost at any Vet. However, they worked with me on a solution that was within what I could pay. It wasn't a situation where the most expensive treatment was the only treatment that was recommended. I was given options, and wasn't pressured into a decision. I appreciate that.They saved my cat's life today. For that I am grateful. The doctor seemed very knowledgeable, professional and curious. most importantly, my cat is alive because of them. Clean establishment, clean exam rooms, and not a long wait. I called at 11, and was seen at 2 that day. The procedure lasted a few hours, and I was called when it was finished. I was given clear instructions on how to care for my cat in his current condition, and the doc answered every one of my questions without hesitation. I highly recommend them. Brock Sloan Read Less

well, we took our dog in on Monday 8/10/2015 about 7pm , our dog was not breathing or acting normal and was very warm. upon arrival the techs were great they took our dog immediately and us to a room , they spoke with us and took notes on all her symptoms . then Dr Evil comes in , I trust his name is Baitman , but this is the 2nd time we have seen this un friendly Dr in the past 2 months , he is very rude and speaks like a robot , he really does nothing to help the animals or the owners, basically blamed us for the dogs issues , because we could not tell him in %'s what her food intake was like the last couple of days or her urine output . he made us feel worse , and sais if we couldn't pay the 500+  for the blood work right then and there was nothing he could do , asked if we could pay Friday and he said no , there was clearly something wrong with our dog !! we took her home after they charged us 100 just for looking at her. and being rude to us . on Wednesday 2 days later 8/12/2015 we got home and the dog was bleeding like she had been stabbed several times and not breathing properly and hot, we wrapped her in towel's and rushed to Bandfield and DR BOLAND ( Sweetest vet around ) , they took our dog in and said she was in respitory failure , and had a heart condition and a very bad infection all with in 10 minutes of examining her , they said that she would not make it through surgery , so we had to put our doggie down... now if Dundee would of taken the time to actually look at our dog and determine anything or had compassion for my self and daughter standing there crying 2 days before our family pet might be here . very rude place will never ever go here again , they are out to make money not save animals Read Less

We have been taking our pets here for 4 years now. Dr. O'Brien is our favorite. She is up to date on current medical needs for our pets. Always gives the best advice. I had a slight emergency when I went to pick up a dog to take to a training facility only to find out he was missing a vaccination. I called and they were able to get me in immediately to see a doctor for the exam and vaccine.  Everyone was extremely accomodating! The doctor I saw was so nice and gentle with the extremely anxious dog I brought in.  I had my three month old with me and the front staff were awesome offering to help in any way. They weighed my dog for me and helped me out to my car even waiting while I got my baby in the carseat. I can't thank them enough as you can imagine I really had my hands full! Read Less

Place is way too expensive.  They have a lot of overhead that you'll wind up paying for.  We went there because our Bearded Dragon's leg seemed to have a problem.  He got worse after we gave him the medicine that was prescribed.  We would up bringing to another place where, unfortunately he had to be put down.Last time I'll bring any of my pets here. We normally go to the Algonquin location with our King Charles Spaniels, but when one of our dogs suddenly died, we found out that their East Dundee location is the one to handle deceased furry friends.  The entire staff was respectful and really caring as I tearfully walked into the clinic.  At first, I was greeted with a smile and asked how I could be helped, but once I announced that my husband had just called about our dog dying early that morning, the tone became much more somber and sympathetic, even though we had never met any of them before.  They also offered to let me fill out the paperwork in a private room, which I politely declined but truly appreciated.  The process was swift and painless, as my husband discussed cremation arrangements on the phone prior to the drive in.  The woman that processed the paperwork was also kind enough to bring our dog in instead of making me carry her in which would have probably broken my heart into a thousand more pieces.We were told that the ashes would be ready in about 10-15 business days, but we actually got the phone call after about 4.  The ashes were packaged in a beautiful carved wooden box and contained sentiments of sympathy.  The other standout thing was that we received a sympathy card from them expressing sorrow for our dog's sudden passing.  It was like a warm hug to each member of our family and much appreciated.  While I'm not looking forward to repeating the process with our other dog when he leaves this world, it's comforting to know that he and we will be well taken care of. I called them three times, and they did not respond as they said they would for the three days that I waited. After which, I spoke to the manager on the third or fourth day  and she explained why they could not see my cat in so little words that it was almost disturbing; though the manager herself was pleasant. Do not take your pet there the prices are sky high, instead look into the animal hospital on Randall road in Algonquin. They are rude and incomprehensibly inept in Dundee mostly. Read Less

I know this may sound silly, but it not only made me smile but also made me want to write something about the place.  If you are a pet parent and are looking for a vet in the North Western burbs of Chicago, please do your furry friend the favor and take them to Dundee Animal Hospital.  They just sent my cat, Rex, a birthday email with an electronic birthday card.  While this is only just the icing on the cake, they have taken the utmost care and dedication to love and help Rex with his stomach issues. I couldn't love the Dundee Animal hospital enough.  Client for life.As an added note, we are moving all our cats files to the Dundee Animal Hospital.  the staff are attentive, caring and the doctors (while I have only had the pleasure of coming to know one of them) are nothing short of amazing.Couldn't recommend these guys more. Started at the Elgin clinic years ago with a kind and wonderful female vet.  Then began the ongoing rotations of vets coming and going through this practice.  Every annual appointment was spent getting to know a new doc.When our dog began having back problems, we received a general diagnosis of back pain and potential spinal injury.  Imagine our surprise when in the third round of meds for back pain our dog fell extremely ill, and they discovered in an xray, he had cancer throughout his body including a tumor pressing on his spine.  Not that we would have spent huge amounts of money if the diagnosis had come earlier, but this diagnosis was at the last possible moment.  So not only did we pay for numerous visits to treat this "injury", but by the time the emergency weekend visit when things had gone downhill happened, we had paid them thousands of dollars for a missed diagnosis.They do offer a service where a vet comes to your home to euthanize your dog.  This was worth it to us to say goodbye in our home rather than a sterile doctor's office.  I recommend this option.Dundee Animal Hospital (Elgin & Dundee) treated this dog from the time we adopted him to his end of life.  Given the quality and cost of the care, they have not treated any of our subsequent pets. This is a great facility run by people who really care. I take my three kitties there. They are always helpful in answering all my questions and never seem in a rush to move on to the next patient. I had an emergency with one of my cats who had several obstructions of his bladder. I was on the fence about the surgery to fix the issue as it could lead to more issues down the line...the vet saw my concern and told me there was a modified surgery that another hospital can do and provided me there information. How amazing that they did not push just their services! We ended up having the modified surgery elsewhere and Dundee vets callled to see how it went. Very caring group and love that they are there 24 hrs a day.There was one inexperienced vet there I would not go back to but everyone else is great and Dr. Kersting is my cats favorite vet. Had to take both my dogs, on separate occasions here due to a attack from other dogs.They are great emergency care providers, they only suggested what he needed and didn't push non-sensical stuff that my family/pets didn't need, which I really enjoy, because going to other places they push products onto you, that your dog may really not need. This is the only place I've ever taken any of my dogs. The staff is friendly, and you can tell that they really care about the job they are doing and the animals they are treating. I love that they are open 24 hours for emergencies, because I did have an instance where a dog of mine was attacked after normal office hours, and I was able to bring her in and she was treated and taken care of immediately. Always brought my puppies here for newborn check-ups, dogs for shots and microchips, heartworm medication, etc. Although they are a little pricey, I think it's worth it for the care and attention that they give to the animals they treat.
