Why was a very sweet and still waking upp cat brought out scruffed with no explanation? Why was the same cat sent home with no skin glue closing the toes after the declaw AND no bandages on either foot; along with no cone. A cat doesn’t know any better. It’s going to lick where it hurts and there’s NOTHING to protect it’s incisions from the neuter or declaw? The paws are swollen and very painful for this cat now. No amoxicillin sent home, no burprenorphine- the owner said it was never even discussed. Yesterday’s news should have been a mandatory thing to get after a declaw and yet they had no clue. This cat is in pain and not wanting to walk. It’s going to have a month of healing and it’s not going to feel good. No follow up either so the owner thought that this was normal. For no meds, cone, litter, or a proper job on the surgery they paid almost $350. Are you kidding me westside? Read Less

When my cat became very strangely stuck in one position I did not understand what happened I wrapped him in a blanket and ran down the street and the Heat to this place and they were very very helpful unfortunately it was during the pet food problem and I had to put him down they were very compassionate and understanding and kept him comfortable until my husband was able to come home from work to say goodbye I really appreciated that we were doing very badly at the time financially as they both just as nice as they could be Read Less

I have a 1 year old Frenchie/Boston mix who recently starting have worsening skin issues. She always had a few issues, but the vet I went to at the time would just give her an rx for Clavamox and send me out the door. She started having open sores from scratching, a bad smell and extreme hair loss. The other vet suggested a treatment plan that was over a thousand dollars up front without any guarantee. I love my dog and I would try to figure it out but honestly I didn't want to go back there, they never seemed to help her. So I called this place on a recommendation from a FB group I belong to, made an appointment and off we went. First off this place is so down-to-earth. They actually listen to you. Not a fancy place but I'm more than okay with that. Second is that they actually talk to you and make sure you understand what is going on up front...instead of after. My other vet I would go to pay the bill and no one had even given me a clue as to what the pricing was. Third is they actually care. Elgin Westside Animal Hospital pretty much saved my dog. No one else would help me without a tremendous up front payment and/or a bunch of useless prescriptions. I am so happy to report she is on the mend, happy and growing fur back! Highly recommended! I visited two other local veternary clinics and both sucked me in slowly with continued treatments and tests that cost alot of money over many months with the final recomendation to put my dog down. In despetration I visited Elgin Westside. The Vet researched the disease my dog had. He contacted a teaching University to get latest updates and recomendations. He cured my dog 8years ago for a few dollars compared to what the other clinics had sucked out of me. This Vet loves animals, gives you the time you need to explain the care of your pet, all at a reasonable cost.Remember you pay for all those fancy buildings in high fees and repeating procedures. My dog's vaccination was over for a week before we realized we have an upcoming trip. They were able to take him in right away and board him. Boarding places will not take your dog if they are not vaccinated at least 10 days for rabies. The facility is not the newest, but the service were great, staff and vet were helpful, cost was reasonable. I find they are your local vet and they were flexible, considerate and accommodating when it comes to pet care.Read Less
