Kind, compassionate, treated us and our pet with such kindness. Took us right away, showed great warmth to my little girl and I through the loss of our pet. Reasonably priced. Overall best experience we could have had for such a sad event. We were put in a room set up with soft lighting and comfortable seating. The staff had wonderful people skills and were very caring. I will never go anywhere else for an after hours vet. Thank you so much Premier Veterinary Group for being a comfort and making my 8 year old daughter feel at peace with the decision we had to make for Reeses. Also, thank you for taking care of the matter so quickly and efficiently to end his suffering. We were treated with dignity and empathy from the moment I called until we walked out the door. This is a very difficult review for me to write and I've contemplated on posting this review or not. My story did not have a happy ending but if it can save someone else's pet or prevent a family from going through what my family and I went through then I hope this will be helpful. Check in was fairly easy and there was no wait as I was the only client there. However taking x-rays and then having a radiologist confirm the findings on the x-rays (which is an additional cost and they will most likely utilize to squeeze that extra dollar from you) took well over an hour. Which in this case didn't help alleviate or solve my dog's short and shallow breathing problem. Nor did they offer to let me see my dog who was barking and clearly anxious as she was just in the back just waiting and not receiving medication. The x-rays showed that her hearted was enlarged (which we already knew) and trachea was narrow but no fluid in her lungs. My issue was that the vet knew being stressed wouldn't be good for her pre-existing heart condition and he even mentioned it in his take home care instructions. But you know it's all about the money not the pet's welfare there. After the x-rays were done and the vet went over the findings, he then prescribed medication and sent her off home even though she was still breathing so fast. This was an error and the vet should have seen how she was doing out of the oxygen tank before discharging her. Blindly I placed my faith in the vet that if she was cleared to go home then her slow road to recovery was en route. Unfortunately, minutes after I got her home her health deteriorated and I had to bring her back. She stayed in the oxygen tank throughout the night with my mother and I taking turns to visit her. She made it through the night without any issues. It was the following morning that everything took a turn for the worst. First, when I arrived I was greeted and told to wait while my dog received her heart medication. Meanwhile, I stood there in the lobby awkwardly and trying not to cry. When I was finally able to see my dog although her breathing was still fast she seemed slightly better than the night before. Her eyes were bright and she was happy to see me. A few short hours later she had arrested and at that point I had to make a decision that is every pet owner's worst nightmare. Because her quality of life was so poor I made the difficult decision to let her go. I didn't want her to prolong her suffering. My family was absolutely devastated and the only thing that made such a horrible situation slightly better was the vet tech who was there. She reassured me the decision I was making was the right one and she talked to my dog when I was unable to do so with the overwhelming grief taking over my body.I didn't understand how my dog made it throughout the night in the oxygen tank without any issues but with the second vet she had arrested less than two hours later after my morning visit. Did they not give her a sedative when I had left and she was clearly distressed? Or at least call me so I can be there to help calm her? When the vet made the call over the phone to tell me, he made it seem as if it was my fault. Which was odd because she had no issues when we visited the night before and left and then would come back a few hours later to check in on her. My dog arresting is not on me if she failed under your care. Putting that blame on me--an owner already going through so much grief and worry--is truly awful. Also, when they give you a form to sign for resuscitation in case something happens the vet does not mention it's a couple hundred dollars. Yes, I expected there to be an extra charge but that is something that should have been mentioned prior to and not after the fact. Money wasn't the issue here. I was willing to pay whatever necessary to help my dog but I do take issue with not being forward with the costs and treating me like their next paycheck. Finding out how to max out each service in order to treat my pet-- which is very disheartening.I understand this is an 24 hour emergency clinic and the costs are higher. But the way my dog was prematurely discharged, to the way I was treated from the vets so impersonally, and the trumped up charges not being discussed beforehand I wouldn't want anyone to come here with their beloved pet. Please save yourself the heartache and go somewhere else where money isn't the first objective. I'm incredibly thankful for the kind vet tech (Nicole) and for the morning receptionist but I will not be back nor recommending this clinic to any of my friends who also have pets. I lost my best friend and I truly do not believe every measure was taken to help save my dog's life nor was she properly monitored. This was my painful experience. I hope this very long review will help pet owners who are considering taking their pets to an emergency clinic. Read Less

My family and I cannot speak highly enough about the doctors and staff at Premier Veterinary Group. Three weeks ago, our small cock-a-poo, Sadie, was viciously attacked by two pit bulls. Thankfully, a neighbor mentioned that Premier had recently opened a location nearby. We called ahead to let them know we were coming and they were prepared the minute we rushed through door. Dr. Anthony Coronado and his team performed over 5 hours of surgery on Sadie, making sure she had no damage to her internal organs and closing up the many, many wounds inflicted by the other dogs. We left that evening not thinking she was going to live through the night. But, incredibly, she did. And two days after her surgery she was walking! The team at Premier Veterinary Group worked a miracle. Their knowledge and expertise is second to none. And every step of the way they were so very kind, patient and professional. So to Dr. Coronado, Dr. McVey and the rest of the staff at Premier Veterinary Group€THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU€a million times over. You saved Sadie€s life and we will be forever grateful. I called on a Monday evening recently after my regular vet was already closed. The girl who answered the phone said her name was Molly and was extremely unpleasant, so much so that I almost didn't go in. Thankfully when I got there another girl greeted us at the door and quickly got us into a room to examine our cat and take a history. She was very friendly and thorough asking about the symptoms that we had been seeing. The vet was somewhat awkward like she didn't know how to interact with clients well, chuckling at odd times, but she seemed to know what she was doing.Overall it was an average experience although the only one who seemed to appreciate customer service and patient care was the youngest one there. I have been here with one of my three dogs last year & had a pleasant visit. They saw my dog right away & the doctor was helpful. Unfortunately, I made sure I found a new emergency vet in case I have a future misfortune with one of my dogs moving forward. Tuesday night, my dog kept having sever & lengthy episodes of a reverse cough, I called in to bring him in & asked if there was anything I could do in the meantime (besides the rubbing of the chest & stomach area) whoever I spoke to, it was as if I was a bother to her & all she kept telling me in a condescending tone was, "Well you need to bring your dog in... you should bring your dog in... that is why you need to bring your dog in". I was on my WAY to bring my dog in, I just wanted any type of professional help or something to help my dog the next 25 minutes to the vet. In the event of an emergency, there should be someone who is willing to give some type of advice/ aid - not someone who is annoyed & spoke as if they cared less... Read Less

We took our 10-month old cat here after a horrible trip to the regular vet (Elgin Animal Clinic 1350 East Chicago Street). Our cat was diagnosed with Feline Vestibular Syndrome almost immediately. I later learned that FVS is often mis-diagnosed as a seizure and often not properly treated so I was especially glad that the Animal Emergency of Kane County was able to recognize it so quickly. The vet said that she had only seen this condition in a cat once but was very professional, knowledgeable, and gave proper treatment to our cat. We had to go back a second time for an IV since our cat was not eating and they waived the admission fee since it was a follow-up visit. The staff could tell that we were very upset and were so understanding and compassionate. They called us a few times throughout the week to make sure that our cat was improving. After everything, they recommended a great new vet to us - Tri City Animal Hospital. Read Less

At the end of July we brought our Dog Madison here because she was having cluster seizures and we were turned away by another Emergency Vet(while she was seizing in my husbands arms)because they were short staffed and in surgery. Dr Libby McVey and her staff did an amazing job of taking care of her and also recommended another seizure med that has worked out better for her. If needed we will definitely go here first next time. Very friendly, knowledgeable, compassionate, competent staff Read Less

Read Less

We were on vacation in Florida when our 14 yr old Chihuahua suddenly became very ill. My mom took her to Animal Emergency on a Sunday morning. She explained the situation to them, and they were very accommodating and compassionate! They called me in Florida with all findings and results, emailed me all consent forms, and just really went out of their way to make a very difficult situation easier. Needless to say, it was not the happy ending we were all hoping for, but from start to finish, they were all very helpful! Fast forward 6 months, and I had to call them one Saturday night because I accidentally gave our 6 month old puppy our older dogs medicine!! They, again were so kind and helpful! Dr McVeigh even remembered us and our situation with our Chihuahua 4 months earlier!! I cannot say enough good things about the staff here!!

Read Less
