Whenever we go, our dogs are taken care of with love and care. The vet techs and the vet that we've seen are all great. Our dogs get nervous when we take them to the vet and the staff makes them feel at ease. The front desk women could be a bit more friendly, but otherwise it is a great place to take your pet. This animal hospital is less than 1 one star because I left my dog there for 1 week because I was on vacation and they abused, starved, gave my dog an eye infection, so dirty, rude, terrible service, and over all the worst animal hospital EVER! Don’t ever take your dog here! My dog was so excited to get out when we came and I saw other dogs so excited to get out and go home with their owners that they even started crying! Yes I said CRYING! My dog was so happy to return to his original animal hospital! Elmhurts animal hospital’s employees better fix up their service, fix their attitudes, and fairly give people what they paid for because I’m sure I didn’t pay for my dog to be abused, get an eye infection, be dirty, and to be staying in the most terrifying and most terrible place! Not impressed with this place. They are slow and very expensive for a beginner's diagnoses. The veterinarian was very confused and have us the impression that she had no idea what was wrong with my dog. But finally at the end she said something just to justify probably the $350 spent by us in vain. We went back to the vour old town veterinarian which we switch since we moved, even if it was very far from our place. Our baby is healthy and happy right now. Read Less

This place looks nice upfront but when it boils down to it, they only care about money. Your pets well being and treating the owners well, is not at the top of the list. Several years ago I swore I would never go back when I took my lethargic 6 year old cat in who's nose started bleeding. The vet sent her home saying she'd be fine. Turns out she had leukemia and I woke up to find her dead. She should have been put down, to avoid the suffering she went through. When I went back later down the road , I wasn't pleased with the service, and the front desk were talking about inappropriate stuff while customers were present. I have yet to receive a correct diagnosis at this location. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy, bc no animal should be set there. Also, the review for boarding are horrendous. My Yorkie Mason was recently bit by another dog on his leg, the whole event was traumatic. I called the animal hospital and they told me to bring him over immediately. He was seen within minutes of our arrival. Dr Anna Ponce was wonderful calming, explained everything. I've had many dogs and met many vets, she was outstanding. I expected my visit to be a fortune but instead it was reasonable. Not only is Dr Ponce good with animals but she is good with people. I have found my vet! She even changed Masons bandages the next day at no charge. Her staff is equally amazing and the facility is beautiful and CLEAN. Your first visit is no charge so what do you have to loose. Had to take my rescue pup in here as her suture site had opened up and was oozing. Although we arrived thirty minutes before they closed, they were welcoming and speedy, and patient with our nervous big baby of a dog.Our vet, Dr Jaworski, was super friendly, introduced herself to us and explained what was going on with our pup in terms we could understand and relate to. As soon as we finished our visit (which was free except for her antibiotics- I guess they waive a first time exam fee!), we decided that this was our new vet- super happy with our choice. We needed an affordable veterinarian to keep our older diabetic cat for three weeks while our entire family went on a trip. My co-worker told me about Elmhurst Animal Care and how her aunt always took her dogs there for when she had to go one trips. I loved the staff at Elmhurst Animal Care. They were affordable and helpful. Once we dropped off our cat every other day I received pictures and updates on how he was doing. I don't think my cat wanted to leave once we got him back. The staff at Elmhurst Animal Care Center is always welcoming, knowledgeable and very much inclined to help. Each of the veterinarians I've worked with have displayed utter compassion and concern for my dogs. I always feel safe and confident in entrusting them to care for my pets. I love that I can walk in for an appointment at any time without a significant wait. What I also really love is that they have an after hours emergency line. When my dog became ill recently late at night, I called and was able to get advice from a doctor right away without a charge. He also encouraged me to call back with more questions- this was such a huge help as we may have taken him in for emergency care, though he didn't end up needing it. Our first and only family dog of 12 years passed away this past fall and the Vets and Assistants here were terrific in walking us through this very difficult event. To be fair, I must start this poor review by acknowledging that the veterinary staff has been excellent many times in the past and we have been bringing our pets to EACC since 2006. Our dog was returned to us after a 3 night stay with no report or explanation of any problems. When we got him to the car, we noticed his elbows and paws were raw and stained with blood. We brought him back in to find out what had happened and they basically told us that he most likely has an allergy and that the red fur is a result of staining from his licking the areas. He had no previous problems with allergies or licking of these particular areas. I have always been beyond pleased with the care and service that both myself and my dog receive at Elmhurst Animal Care Center. I was actually really surprised to read some of the bad reviews because I have always had such great experiences and so have my family members. I was referred here by my brother about 4 years ago because my old vet was closed and we were having a bit of an emergency with my dog (he cut his paw on something while playing in the backyard and was bleeding all over the place). Thankfully, my brother was over and suggested we take Rocco to his vet right away. When we got to the clinic I carried Rocco in and one of the girls at the front desk saw that we had an emergency and rushed us in the back where a doctor and nurse quickly ran to help us. After cleaning up his paw they realized that the cut wasn't all that bad. They wrapped it up for us and sent us home with some antibiotics and a plan to recheck in a couple days. I figured it would be best to take Rocco back to them for the recheck since they handled the original problem. When we came back in for the follow up the front desk greeted me right away and made a comment that they were happy to see Rocco walking in on his own instead of in my arms, I was pleasantly surprised that they remembered us after only one visit. The doctor again was wonderful, she talked to Rocco as she examined him and really seemed to calm him. After that I decided to make them my regular vet. The staff knows us pretty well by now, and really treat my dog like one of their own. They are always so friendly and welcoming, Rocco even loves going to the vet because he gets so much love and attention. I am so thankful to my brother for introducing us to this clinic, and thankful to the staff for always taking such great care of my Rocco. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs here for about four years now and have always been very happy with their service. We had been taking our older dog to a different vet, but when we adopted our second dog we were referred to this clinic by the rescue orginization. We are so happy to have found them! Our older dog has had a lot of health problems and they have been amazing in treating him (and us). My wife and I call all the time with different questions and they are always so helpful. When Bailey (our older guy) had to be hospitalized the staff really treated him like their own. We went to visit Bailey in the hospital we could see he was in good hands. The nurse brought him in for us and began telling us how we have such a sweet dog, we were a little surprised. Our dog has turned into a crabby old man over the years, but he loves his ""girlfriends"" there, it's unbelievable. My dog would not act the way he does with the staff if they weren't treating him right. We have complete trust and confidence in all the doctors and staff at elmhurst animal care. I really want to give this place the credit and thanks they deserve, I don't know what we would do with out them! Read Less

At first glance you would think this is a wonderful place. Always clean. First, the animals boarding are NEVER properly cared for. The staff neglects the animals. Some dogs sit in their own fecal all day before getting let out and their cage cleaned. The dogs rarely get fed the food the owners leave for them. The manager is by far the worst example of a ""manager"" you can imagine. SO with complaints don't bother asking for her, your complaints and or requests will never be met. They think it's ok to overbook the kennel by at least 30 or 40 dogs. Other than one doctor, none of the doctors could care less about the health and well being of the animals staying. The owner himself sent a dog home that was supposed to be neutered without even neutering the dog!!! he sedated it and then forgot about it!! So for good and proper care of your animals.. take them elsewhere Read Less

My experience at Elmhurst Animal Care Center was wonderful. My dog was very sick and in obvious pain when we arrived at the Clinic. We were greeted by a receptionist who called for a Doctor immediately. The staff including the Doctor and the technicians were kind and caring. They took the time to explain what was going on and seemed genuinely concerned about not only my dog but also myself. I have had the opportunity to return for groomong and additional Doctor visits and I am extremely pleased with the care given to my dog. My dog seems very comfortable and not afraid when we make a visit to this Veterinarian Clinic. I would highly recommend Elmhurst Animal Care Center, and so would my dog!!!! Read Less

I have never had a problem with this facility. I loke that when you walk in that it doesn't smell like your at the vet. I have broought my dog there for emergency care, was in the room with the whole time and he was great, anwsered all my questions. I have also boarded my animal there and never had a problem. I also brought my kitten there and all went well. I am sorry that those other people did not have good experiences, but was fine. Read Less

We had the worst experience at this facility. When the kennel brought out our dogs after we returned from a week vacation, one of them was soaking wet, his white fur was stained yellow from soaking in his own urine, his legs could barely move. It was so bad, I took photos of him. Our dogs are 14 years old, and require a little more care than most, but I had requested the vet take a look at each of them while they were there. The attendees at the kennel knew that my dog had a urine leakage problem, and would wash him down, and then leave him wet. Who knows how long he had been left wet...maybe days! Like the other reviewer said, I got the run-around from the employees. Each of them blamed the other one. My poor old dog now can't walk up steps, and is leaking urine horribly. We were issued a refund, but it doesn't make up for the absolutely horrible care my dogs received. Read Less

Took my 2 bulldogs there for boarding. Figured that the veterinary care was acceptable so, why not board them for a weekend. When I picked up my beloved pets, THEY LOOKED LIKE THEY HAD BEEN THROUGH A WAR!!! No joke! Numerous cuts on both. Cuts to the eyes, chin, chest, cheeks, necks. Their paws are raw and bloody. I cannot count all of the wounds. I made numerous calls looking for an explanation but, to NO AVAIL! They give you the ""run around,"" placing the blame on one another. Every lead is a dead end. The manager is sick, the one in charge is not in. It is just not right. You bring them in a good condition and get them back beaten and bloody. Efficent place but long lines. We had our cat spayed there. We never got to meet and talk with a doctor. We just dropped her off then picked her up the next day and only spoke to the receptionists about her surgery and recovery.
