The only iffy thing about this office is the parking situation. I brought my cat in today because he's had fleas we can't seem to get rid of... He's scratching so much that he has big cuts along his neck. The receptionist, vet tech, and vet were all very kind to both my cat and me. The vet gave my cat two shots to help with his cuts/scratching and thoroughly explained what each one does. She also offered helpful advice for ridding our home of the pesky fleas. I'm very grateful that they were able to see him the same day I called and their service was entirely professional. I'll definitely come back in the future if either of my cats need vet care. Thank you Hilltop! Read Less

Hilltop doesn't deserve any stars. Do not trust them. We brought our cat there 6 weeks ago. He wasn't going to the bathroom regularly. We trusted the Dr to do her job and figure out what was wrong with our cat. He had a blockage before, that was seen with an X-ray which we told the Dr. She said "I don't really think he needs that." We should have fought for it, but instead she did blood work, sedated the cat and brushed him out. All for $500. They called the next day told us they didn't find any parasites, and didn't find anything wrong. "He is a little overweight though" , so she gave us prescription food to help with weight loss and digestion. When I called her within a few days to say he wasn't any better, and that he really wasn't eating much she then charged me another $30 to give my cat a probiotic, that my husband and I had to force down his throat, and didn't make him any better. When I told her he wasn't eating, she said he will when he gets hungry enough. Another 10 days goes by. He stopped eating all together. We ended up taking him to the emergency vet in Crestwood, requested an X-ray, which they did. With the x-ray they found fluid in his abdomen, and some spots that showed up and his abdomen and chest area. After further review by the radiologist, we decided do you have another vet do an ultrasound and test the fluid. Our cat had cancer. If we would have found out six weeks sooner, we believe we would  still have our cat. Our cat passed away peacefully at home on October 12th. You know your animal, when you request an x-ray an x-ray should be done. The only reason Hilltop Animal Hospital are is because yelp is making me. Read Less

Unfortunately we did not have the best experience here. Doctor Aileen Carney made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and spoke down to me as if I was not properly caring for my dog. I was going to give the clinic a second chance but when I went to pick up my dogs prescription of NexGuard I was once again treated poorly by the front desk. Luckily, we found another vet in the neighborhood that is willing to take care of our dog and makes us feel completely confident! Read Less

Yes, they can be expensive...as is my own doctor. Whenever possible, I choose Healthcare based on quality and 'bedside' manner...both of which are excellent here. THIS is where I come when the chips are down. I know they will provide loving care, be honest with diagnosis and most importantly, prognosis. They are always my first stop if a beloved pet gets sick....and have been the final resting place for those I have lost.  I truly trust them. I brought my cat, Figaro, here at the age of 16. They saved his life and sent me on to secondary care for a thyroid tumor. Figaro lived to be joyful, fierce 21+ years old thanks to their thoroughly executed exams, tests, and aftercare for diabetes..rather than dismiss him as a 'sick, old animal'.. If they can't help you...they know exactly who can. Always willing to work with other vets; never offended if you need/want to balance care out with a clinic or online meds. I love that they have a separate waiting room for cats and dogs. Keeps both my Pitbull's AND my own anxiety way down. Whew! They aren't a fancy, high-end facility, but they have heart and truly take their time with you.  Mary E.'s review hit the nail on the head. My pets love the vet and staff and my furry family maintains the best in health thanks to these lovely ladies. Check their website for specials!! Perhaps sometimes I do spend a little more, but I have happy, healthy pets thanks to Dr .Carney and staff and I know when I leave here,  both my pets and myself can rest easy. That, folks, is priceless. Read Less

Hilltop is a great animal hospital--they're small, so they don't have all the high-end diagnostic equipment some larger hospitals have. But they have smart, caring people who make a real effort to get to know your pet and treat him appropriately. Compared to other AH's in the area, Hilltop is on the inexpensive side. Also, they have separate waiting rooms for cats and dogs, which really reduces stress and the potential for unpleasant encounters. Another point in its favor is that the DVM's at Hilltop are not afraid to refer pets to another hospital that DOES have specialists on staff. They don't just say, "Oh sure, we can do that!" if they are unfamiliar with the condition or if the pet needs advanced care.  We have been bringing our pets to Hilltop since Dr. Hurley owned the practice decades ago. We have also boarded our dogs there on occasion. We've never been unhappy with the experience. When people in the nieghborhood ask for a vet recommendation, Hilltop is the first place I suggest. I don't know what Hilltop these other reviewers were writing about, but it can't be the Hilltop I know. I have brought my pets here since grammar school (that was in the '60s), and wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. Even though ownership has changed a few times since then, Hilltop just keeps getting better. I don't know of any situation where an unnecessary treatment was recommended, or an unreasonable price charged. Hilltop, then and now, has always taken great care of my pets, and I expect that to continue. Read Less
