After being a client of Dr. Stanleys for well over a decade, I recently called for an emergency situation for one of my dogs. One of the first questions the receptionist asked me was why I had not been in to vaccinate my dogs this year. I stated because she told me they didn't offer the three year vaccine. She rebutted by saying they did special order it if customers requested it. That's not what she told me before. She said it was an ineffective vaccine, that you don't get rabies coverage for three years. So, I told her since they don't take Discover would she let me pay in a few days after I have more money in my debit account. Then she said it's the end of the quarter and that wouldn't work. Ok, I've been a frequent customer of theirs since 1999... I've spent literally THOUSANDS of dollars at her office for two sick cats with multiple health issues. THOUSANDS. And you know what Mary, the receptionist said? I asked her if she could recommend me to another vet. She states, "Maybe you can take your dog to the place you got the 3 year rabies vaccine!". Unbelievable. I'm going to Carey Animal Hospital. I just called, they said to bring my dog in within 2 hours to be checked by a vet. I am livid. Dr. Stanley is known for being more expensive. She's a good vet, but their animal care policy sucks. It's all about the money. God forbid you get your pets vaccinated somewhere else. They will kick you to the curb. Even if you've spent THOUSANDS of dollars for over a decade as a customer. ADVICE: The state of Illinois states that rabies vaccinations are only required every three years. It's up to the vet if they offer yearly or every three years. If your vet states they only do yearly...RUN. They are only in it for the money. Why get a yearly vaccination for something they are never going to acquire (rabies) when you can get a 3 year? Vaccinations are bad for your pet anyway. Read Less

Dr. Susan Stanley is truly as good as it gets. She knows her stuff and she knows her patients. Some places you're just another face they see but to Dr. Sue you are like family. She really gets to know you and your pets. My family has gone to her for over 10 years and we will continue to go to her because of her friendliness, fair pricing, and how knowledgable she is in her field. St. Clair Animal Hospital is the only place I would ever take my pets. Dr. Sue Stanley is an excellent veterinarian and is extremely personable. She is so great with animals and has helped my family with all of ours from hamsters to cats, and dogs. We have never been disappointed. Whether the problem is big or small Dr. Sue is the only one we trust with our furry family members. We have gone to her since we moved here in 2001 and will continue to go to her because she is friendly, she knows all of her "patients" by name, and is fairly priced. we have taken our pets here for years. my grandma took he last dog here. she is friendly and offers advice on all points of care. they are very knowledgeable. they have been at the same location for 30 years as far as i know. i would and do suggest Dr. Stanley to friends. she may be a little more expensive than other places but it is not that much more. plus i know she knows her stuff.
