Called in to see how the walk in registration works. The woman answering the phone was very rude. Said the doctors told her no more registrations today as they were busy. Then she said they all have lives and want to go home. I asked her name and she “I’m not going to give you that” I asked for the manager and she hung up on me. I called back and someone different answered. She didn’t know who I spoke with (she said) but was very exaggerated with her speech about how terrible I was treated. It was obvious she was mocking me. Both were on speaker and my friend heard both calls. The second woman wanted my name but it didn’t feel right giving it to her. I don’t need crazy spiteful women retaliating. Advice to the owners; record the conversations. Hire compassionate people. Don’t overwork your employees so they snap and belittle those who call with sick pets. If you need 6 people answering the phones and see patients until 11pm then it’s quite clear you are only interested in how much money you can make. I'm very disappointed with the level of service I received at Fox Lake Anmial Hospital. My French bulldog was experiencing extreme muscle spasms in his hind legs and was unable to walk. I rushed him to Fox Lake Animal Hospital and walked in the door exactly at 5:00pm. I explained to the receptionists what was going on with him. They snickered amongst themselves and pointed to the clock saying that they will not take patients past 5pm. At this point it was 5:01pm, 2 minute over the 4:59 sign in cutoff. The ladys behind the desk were very rude and did not seem to care about my animals health. My dog was clearly in distress and I was pushed out the door. It's disheartening to see that this is how they treat someone who's been coming here for the past 3 years. I've even given Fox Lake Animal Hospital a second chance after they misdiagnosed my dogs intervertebral disc disease (requiring a $9k back surgery) for gas! So I went into the vet for the first time just yesterday. Shadow , my cat, was very sick. When he got into the room he was very very bad, they noticed and rushed him on oxygen and started cpr. They administered medicine, they did everything they could possibly do to save my baby. We lost our love but I know they did what they could. I was so shocked on how compassionate they were to me. The doctor and nurses were hugging me telling me they r sorry. And they were sincere in that. That was the hardest thing I had to go through and I felt they understood and cared. Been coming here over 25years best vet in the business. They don't over charge, dr. Bo does what's nessecary, not more than you need. He does his job for the love of pets. Have been going here for the past 10 years. Dr's and technicians are okay. Pricing is reasonable. My dog is on immunotherapy allergy shots but have to pay beforehand for a refill. Called with credit card to order refill on Saturday was told person that handles that was not in but would call me back. Wednesday of the following week came along and still no call back, God only knows what happened to my credit card info.....After no call back I showed up on Saturday thinking the last sign in was a 2pm, turns out it was 1pm. I drove over 45min, and apologized as I had made a mistake on sign in times, and was approached but a rude, uncaring lady with short dark hair with no name Tag. After asking another employee turns out her name is Kris. Luckily a vet tech. overheard her yelling at me and offered to do it which took less then 2 min. This lady has been rude to our family as well on numerous occasions on the phone and in person. My sisters cat passed and she called to obtain her vet records, Kris responded and said "What do you want them for if your cat is dead", there in storage already! It is very sad how decade customers are being treated with this kind of customer service skills. Our cat Smokey was treated very professional, taken very well care of & the cost was very reasonable. However we did have to wait a few hours. Our cat was having some difficulty breathing. It was discovered that she had fluid in her lungs. The Vet drained them, oxygen was given, she was observed, antibiotics were given & she was able to come home, is resting & getting stronger everyday. Thank u so very much. My dog was seen by 2 previous vet doctors who had no proof of broken bones in the X-ray. Until I was recommended to Dr.Bo he took new X-rays and sat down with us and showed us proof Of his injury. Although you do have to wait a rather long time it is an amazing vet clinic. The staff are all extremely nice (even the receptionists who I'm sure get yelled at all the time by customers sick of the long wait). The doctors are all wonderful, I always try to go when Dr. Kerry is there because she is definitely our favorite. And the prices are very reasonable. The Staff, Vets and their assistants are kind and caring. My yorkie was vomiting blood and they go above and beyond to take care of your pet. It's an hour drive for me but so worth it. Its first come first serve, but the wait goes fast as your sitting with such friendly people and their pets. And you can't beat the price compared to Chicago Vets around my area! Read Less

I called my local vet in island lake to get pricing for three main 1 year shots for my 8lb chihuahua and teeth cleaning. The island lake vet quoted me $150 for shots and $490 for teeth cleaning. I am paying $130 for shots and $190 for teeth cleaning at Fox Lake Animal Hosptial. They’re just much more reasonable with their pricing. The animal hospital is no 5 star facility but unless you’re just fancy, it’s a nice suitable place for pets to be cared. I wish I would have known about this place sooner! This is hands down the best animal hospital I have gone too. I had a very sick dog and had taken him to two other places before. Other animal hospitals couldn't tell me anything and was trying to charge me an arm and a leg just to "explore". I came here and it was a world of difference! I felt like they actually cared about my Dog and he was treated with love and care. They went through great lengths to see if they could save him. Ultimately they could not, but it gave me peace of mind that everything that could be done was done for him. They were comforting in my time of need and even let me leave through the back entrance after I was emotional at the loss of my Dog  ( so I didn't have to go through the busy waiting area). I want to give my heartfelt thanks to this place. They are amazing and they will never know what it meant to me for them to treat my Dog and be there to the end! And the bill was very reasonable! I came to Fox Lake yesterday because my cat had been vomiting frequently for about 4 days. I called ahead to tell them I was on my way from Gurnee and that I really needed my cat to be seen. I got there as quickly as I could. After having tried two doors that were locked, I finally walked in at exactly 5:01, practically in tears. I waited almost 10 minutes before they told me that their sign in sheet was closed. They sent out a technician who didn't even touch her, but said that she "looked stable" and sent us away. Thankfully I took my cat to Greentree, who was able to see my cat the same day, because they believed me when I told them it was urgent.TURNS OUT SHE HAD A FOREIGN OBJECT IN HER STOMACH THAT WAS CAUSING IT TO NEARLY DOUBLE IN SIZE. THIS CLINIC IS A SHAM. The staff clearly only care about checking in and checking out. Heartless people. Read Less

They are very competitively priced. The staff are absolutely amazing from the receptionists to the techs, everyone was very kind and understanding. I had to bring my pittie in for a rabies shot and quarantine (she got into it with one of my other dogs and we were 2 weeks late on her shot, of course!). There were so many offices that would refuse to see her because of her breed and the bite. I brought her in with no issues, and the doctor that saw her saw how sweet she was and ended up laying on the floor cuddling with her. I've been taking my dog to Fox Lake Animal Hospital since he was a puppy (9 years). They have always provided excellent care at an excellent price. The only downside is it is a first come first serve operation so occasionally if its busy wait times can be rather lengthy. It's a walk-in clinic for most things except surgery, vaccinations, and emergencies so do expect to wait--but the wait is worth it. They are half the price of anywhere else in Lake, Cook, DuPage, or McHenry county and the vets are very, very good. Dr. Radowski is the most skilled surgeon in the area and highly recommended by everyone you will talk to--and again, he charges half the price of anyone else. I have taken my dogs here for years and the vets are always good, the care is excellent, and the service is fine. Reviews saying the staff made them wait with a critical pet are false--they take emergencies immediately and triage your pet in the wait room or car to determine if they are critical and need immediate care. I have taken complex cases to them and they provided competent, compassionate care and always gone the extra mile for my dogs. They will NEVER overcharge you or recommend unnecessary procedures. I truly think this is one of the best vets around! They don't take reservations, but well worth the wait! The doctor that owns the clinic is a classic country vet (extremely knowledgeable and a great surgeon).... We had problems with our dog and another vet was going to charge $10,000...... It was done by Fox lake for $800!! He knew we couldn't afford it, and his love of dogs and their well being was clearly his priority! It blew my husband and I away. Read Less

First time here. Got there early and waited an appropriate amount of time to be seen. Live an hour away and it was well worth the drive. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! I brought my dog to the facility because she was having a hard time going to the bathroom and was peeing blood. (My dog had gone a day not being able to pee or poop and was shaking in pain) after walking through the door I was ignored. I had to ask where to sign in! I took a seat and waited about 20 mins before a nurse came over and asked me to get a urine sample from my dog. I was only able to get a trickle as my dog was having a hard time. I turned in the bowl and this whole time nobody had said a word to me other than "we need a urine sample". So I sat and waited. One, two, three, four hours had past and only ONE, yes I said one, dog had been taken back to be seen. After about 4.5 hours and numerous times taking my dog out to try to pee she had an accident on the floor. I approached the desk to ask if they needed some for the sample as the original sample was small. After about 15 minutes of waiting for the nurse to look up from her phone she went back to check. When's she came back she said "no we have enough". So I sat and I waited some more. At the 5 hour mark I approached the desk again and was again Ignored. When I finally got someone's attention I asked how many dogs were ahead of us. Now keep in mind when we got their it was 5. After 5 hours THREE dogs were still ahead of us. At this time I had to go pick up my daughter as my husband had to leave for work. I approached the desk and let the nurses know that I had to leave and to please remove us from The list. They just said ok and we were on our way. I received a bill today from the animal hospital for the urine test. When I called to ask why she said that they had already done the test. I don't understand why either nurse I talked to before I left could have told me this. I would have found a way to stay if I was already being charged! The management refused to do anything for me. I understand that emergencies come first. Although I'm upset about the wait I do understand why. I am very upset as to the nurses having absolutely no interest in their job. They had plenty of time to chat and goof around but couldn't tell me the way that the test works or that they had already tested the urine! I will not be returning to this facility! And as an update I took my dog to another vet after I picked up my daughter and was in and out in an hour and she is treated and feeling better. I do not recommend this facility to anyone!Read Less

I have been coming to this clinic for more than 5 years now and I have never had the wait as today. 4 hours and counting and no one new was called from the "sign in" list in over an hour. So their average just dropped to one client an hour. I was told to wait in my car due to my dogs coughing. It's 4 degrees outside so I've had to keep my car idling this whole time. In my personal opinion, when an animal is brought in physically unable to move and yipping, making him wait in the car for 3+ hours is absolutely unacceptable and flat out cruel! Not only was that a careless act, but the lack of common courtesy from ANY of the staff is appalling. The only nice person in the entire facility would be the doctor, who I'm sorry has to work with such unpleasant individuals. Aside from all receptionists standing behind the counter and apparently unable to even greet a concerned animal owner when they walk in, one in particular could barley look up from her phone long enough to even realize what the customer was asking. Telling people to sign in, after they did 2 1/2 hours beforehand, shows lack of concern for their job as well as the animal they're supposed to care for. Will NEVER allow my animal's life to be in their careless hands ever again, and I discourage anyone from wasting their money there.Read Less

My dog needed dental work. His breath could peel paint! Fox Lake Animal Hospital was recommended to me by a close friend who has taken her dogs there for years. I have never had dental work done on a dog and I was worried. The doctor explained what the cleaning would entail and that he may need to have more than one tooth out. They took such good care of my dog who needed eleven teeth pulled! The costs beat ALL the other quotes I got! My dog came through the surgery wonderfully and is his happy self again, Did I mention his breath is ,,,well...still dog, but soooo much better! I will be back with my other dog! The doctors themselves are good. As far as the rest of the staff EXTREAMLY rude and have NO IDEA how or what to do when they are asked a question. complete deer in the headlights. They mix up accounts, very un-organized and need either ALOT more training or to hire more competent and efficient help. It is beyond frustrating to call the office as well as try and come in just to wait multiple hours to get STITCHES removed!!! Suggestion to others save yourself the aggravation and find a different vet. All of my animals have gone here and lately i am at my wits end with this place. They are going down the drain.
