We brought our new to us cat in for some drastic changes in behavior, and found out that he was on his way out. We did decide to euthanize so it wasn't painful or hard on our Choji, and everyone was so sweet, and kind and super supportive. Valley Animal Hospital has taken great care of my five pets (three cats and two large dogs) over the last nine years. No shady upcharges or unnecessary tests. Pets have been in age range from kitten/ puppy to geriatric. Unfortunately have had to have three put down (geriatric issues). For a small charge, VAH came to our home and then respectfully took our pooch for cremation. For the other two instances, we went to the vet's office. Dr. Wiechmann took great care of my old man Sammy when he needed dental surgery. Always compassionate about our pets and their needs. I did not give Five Star because my cat, Emily, needed a CT scan of her skull (mucous and a little from nostrils were more than a cold) as recommended by the doctor at Valley. The doctor gave me the name and number of a facility in Aurora that has CT equipment. When I called the cost was approximately $1500 plus approximately $190 doctor consultation fee! I'm semi-retired and that meant I would be unable to find out what was going on with Emily because of the cost. I researched on my own and found Midwest Animal Hospital in Orland Park was a little over $500 which included a CT scan of her skull and the doctor's consultation (before and after CT). The end result was horrible news, cancer, as doc at Valley suspected but at least I knew... and was at peace of letting her go. The problem is there needs to be more reaching out or searching online for what or who else is out there to help clients!! I felt Valley, like probably most clinics in this area, only know one path/facility. We can't get stuck on that's where we always send our clients. If they are passionate and respectful about their clients I sincerely hope they give the option to use Midwest in Orland Park as a referral. It could be the difference in the clients and their pets lives....why wouldn't they?Read Less

Love you guys! At my old vet, both of my dogs were terrified to go and always had to be muzzled. My dogs absolutely love your whole staff and no longer fear their vet visits! They even give the staff kisses! Dr. Christakos helped my Belmont when he was diagnosed with epilepsy and made us feel so comfortable getting him the care he needed. We have been going to Valley Animal Hospital for over 35 years, through the full lives of two very special dogs, our miniature schnauzer Dusty and most recently our little min pin, Rocky. We began with Dr. Juriga and never considered another veterinary clinic, even though we traveled about 20 miles each way. Letting Rocky go last week, after 16+ years of being a part of our family, was possibly the hardest decision we have ever made. I cannot thank the caring staff at Valley Animal Hospital enough, not only for their overall care for Rocky, who had his share of aged health issues along with surgery/recovery from back surgery when he was only 5, but especially for their compassion and care during this final process. Dr. Wiechmann and Dr. Humphrey both made us feel that Rocky was perhaps their favorite little guy, even though I know they must have 100s of favorites. Receiving a personal phone call from Dr Humphrey on Tuesday, and a personal sympathy card from these two doctors today, less than a week after losing Rocky, were the kindest most caring gestures. I hope and pray that we can someday in the future continue to use their services. The best (and recently worst) 20 mile Saturday rides are over for now. Thank you for caring. I have a female boxer, who has had a lot of issues pop up in the last 3 years. Dr Maloney is, hands down, one of the only vets that is caring and compassionate for animals. There are a lot of good vets out there, but Dr Maloney is a step above. She always communicates with us about all aspects of our dogs health, understands and listens when financial reasons are a factor and goes above and beyond to help our boxer girl! You can tell what type of person she is by the care she gives the animals and owners. We love her!! Read Less
