TITLE: DON'T DEAL WITH EMILY AT THE FRONT DESK (Red Hair). She is a LIABILITY...
I'd give ZERO STARS if I could. JUST had a HORRIFIC experience with the Wheaton Animal Hospital, a place we've been taking our pets to for over 10 years. (And my dog died there...more on that at the end)
Here's what happened: Our 5 year old Chihuahua and 5 year old Yorkie were due for their immunization shots. Due to Covid, WAH changed their policy to parking lot drop off...which works just fine for us, no issue there. But since they won't take appointments, we were the second car in the parking lot at 8am. Inexplicably, they said it was going to be a 45 minute wait...literally no explanation. So be it....we'll deal. By 9:00 on the dot, I walked in and asked why we've been waiting so long to get simple booster shots. Keep in mind I was understanding of the 45 minutes, but an hour later I was just looking for an explanation.
HERE'S HOW I WAS TREATED BY EMILY AT THEIR FRONT DESK:
"Sir, that's just something you're going to have to deal with and go wait in your car."
Me: "It's been a hour. You can't give me an expectation on time?"
Emily: "No."
Me: "That's it? Just NO?"
Emily: "Yes."
Me: "Well that's not acceptable. I need to know when I can expect to have my dogs seen."
Emily: "Sir, if you raise your voice again you'll need to leave."
Now, if I raised my voice or was out of line, I would not be here typing this review, because I'm always willing to take my share of the blame.
Me: "I didn't raise my voice."
Emily: "Well you need to leave the building."
Me: "Excuse me?"
Emily: "If you don't leave then I'll call the police"
I swear on my children this is how it went. So, my wife was out in the car, and already frustrated, so I told her to take her turn and go in. I followed her from a distance and she experienced the same thing with Emily. One other young woman behind the counter was so kind, trying to appease the situation, but Emily started shaking her head at us as this other young woman tried to help. Emily rolled her eyes, then spoke over the other woman:
"You both need to leave."
Keep in mind, nothing even mildly abrasive has happened. We were literally being thrown out of a vet we've been to for years for no reason. If I were Emily's supervisor, I would have fired her on the spot. This wasn't a misunderstanding, this is a case of a horrible representation of customer service at WAH.
ALSO: Our Yorkie, our 9 year old baby, back in 2016 was in for pancreatitis. We were able to come in and play with him on his apparent last day of treatment. On his 3rd night of observation, he died sometime throughout the night and he was not found until the next morning. We were HEARTBROKEN, still are. On a POSITIVE note, we stayed because Dr. Cole was so kind and had always been great in the past. He's a decent guy and was very empathetic to our situation. Most people would leave a particular clinic when their pet dies on their watch, but we didn't. Three months later we adopted a 2 month old Chihuahua that has been a WAH patient since day one. A year later we rescued a 1 year old Yorkie, and he's been with WAH since day one with us.
IN ADDITION: We are an ANIMAL FOSTER FAMILY. I don't want to identify the organization we work with as they don't need to deal with this, but all of their animals are checked out by WAH. You can be certain we are going to be in touch with the organization leadership and have them reassess their partnership.
I am mortified. Call the cops on a client for asking a question? I can't believe I'm being so derogatory toward one person, but Emily (with bright red hair, just in case you see her in person) is a horrible representation of her company and her attitude should not be tolerated by any employer.
