Been coming here for about 10 years. I've had years of wonderful experiences and a handful of negative ones. There's never a long wait (5-10min tops), most of the vets are kind and patient and take their time explaining things to you. I have to call in a lot for problems or meds and there is always a fast turn around on getting a reply from the vet (usually within 30-60 min). They have referred me out when they knew something was beyond what they could adequately treat at their facility -- and the referral they made was excellent. They have most meds on hand, so when they prescribe something, there is no wait in getting your pet some relief. I've never felt pushed into any kind of service. They have made suggestions, but they always stress both the positives and negatives and then give me the space/time to decide what's right for my pet. In terms of cost, everything is right around what you would pay at any other vet in the area. Of the handful of negative experiences, the majority centered around one particular office staff member who appears to no longer be there. She was openly hostile and aggressive for seemingly no reason. For example, she refused to relay a concern/request to a vet about my cat when he was in the last stages of kidney disease because SHE felt "I told you, the answer is no" (yup, direct quote). My cat was DYING (he passed a week later), and she couldn't be bothered to ask the vet a question for me. It seems unfair to complain about someone who appears to no longer work there, but she was there and acting this way for years, and I have no doubt the owners were well aware.I've been to several different facilities in the region as I've moved around over the years, and I always end up back here because overall I feel they give the best care. I would recommend every vet there except one. Drs Hart and Sallee in particular are wonderful. I trust these two completely with my furry family. Read Less

I previously gave this veterinary clinic a high review until they nearly cost my dog his life due to their inability to correctly diagnose his condition in spite of the obvious telltale signs of blastomycosis I.E. Hemorrhaging skin lesions, affected eyes, 104.5 temperature, etc. they took his blood, swabbed the lesions, did an eye test, etc. Still my poor 7 yr old Lab lost his left eye and suffered immensely as a result of their inability to diagnose after several visits. Only after I brought him to another veterinary clinic to rule out Blasto was I able to get him on the medication he needed to begin healing. In other words I had him diagnosed before they did and that's pretty sad. Also over the days that I brought him in I never saw the same vet twice and the lack of communication between the veterinarians treating him added to the confusion and wasted time while my dog suffered. I was ultimately told to bring him to an eye doctor. Absolutely ludicrous. Malpractice to say the least and to say I am disappointed is a huge understatement obviously. For just shots or simple things they're OK but if your pet is ill beware of what I went through. Oh and by the way, I still paid monetarily for their incompetence not happy about that either. Perhaps I'm picky because I worked in a very nice vet office during college. The rooms are in need of updating and the temperature is often too cold or too hot. However, the staff is amazing! We fell in love with one doctor who unfortunately left by the time our dog turned 2. Our dog was having some issues with losing weight (86 down to 71 at the worst!) and limping so we scheduled an appt for a check up and shots. I think the younger vet that saw us was a little overwhelmed with all the issues I brought up but she did not shy away and she consulted with other vets. Our dog was put on some meds that helped a little but not enough. We saw another doctor a few weeks later and he was very honest that he did not know what the problem was because their tests did not indicate anything. He said we may have to go to a specialist but we could try some strong meds first. The meds worked great and our dog got much better. Unfortunately, she took a turn about 2 months after the meds were done. We went back again and saw a 3rd doctor, Dr. Dadkhah. She was is great! She is straight forward, very knowledgeable, and caring. She brought up a few potential issues that we hadn't thought of with the other docs (not to say the others weren't still great though). Unfortunately, the tests still couldn't tell us what it was for sure but we did figure out what meds would treat her. I'm happy to say, after a year long ordeal, our dog is back up to 82 pounds (she was a few pounds over weight at 86) and she has her energy. Thank you to Grayslake Animal Hospital and Dr. Dadkhah for all their help! Read Less

I am very disappointed with the service I received today at the Grayslake Animal Hospital. I have been taking my small dog there for 8 years. The Vets are nice and caring but the staff that checks you in are not the most friendly and are quick to show you attitude if you complain about their service. I arrived on time and there was only one customer sitting in the waiting area. She was called in and that's fine because she was there before me. A lady comes in with her black lab and they call her in right away. Twenty minutes later a staff member comes out saying sorry for the delay but the doctors are behind. I am the only one in the waiting area for the past twenty minutes. I ask her why the other pet owner was taken before me even thou I arrived before her. She told me that she asked for a specific doctor and he became available when she strolled in, what the heck!!! After thirty minutes of waiting I have had enough. I can see if the waiting area was full and everyone was being served in the order of their appointments that's fine, but this was clearly preferred treatment while I sat and was told their busy so just wait. There are many other Animal care facilities that would appreciate my business, unlike Grayslake.... Read Less

How in the word can anyone say this staff is friendly? Every time I have had to interact with these people they act like you are truly bothering them. I am not speaking about the vets but the office staff. I just called for a refill on a prescription and when I said "thank you" to the very uninterested staffer she replied "uhuh" and hung up. Is that in the English language dictionary? Does the phrase "your welcome" ring a bell? While I like the vets I am not impressed with their lack of concern for clients. My dog suffered a near death experience (pancreatitis) and was sent to the e.r. clinic. The vets there struggled for a week to bring her around and they succeeded. They were great and called numerous times to check up on my dog afterwards. Grayslake Vet NEVER called me to ask how my dog was. NOT ONCE. I am new to this area and the outstanding vet I left behind in Chicago would have called to check on her for sure. I am searching for a new vet in this area now. Personally I would not waste my time on this place. I gave them 2 stars because they knew they could not help my dog and sent her to someone who could. And FYI have expressed several times to these people I thought the staff was rude and they did not seem to care. I was with my last vet for 15 years so I am a loyal client to those who warrant it. I am beyond disappointed in the service and experience my Mother recently received from Grayslake Animal Hospital. My Mother's golden retriever unfortunetly had to be put down. My Mother brought her in and the doctor failed to sedate her prior to being euthanized. He struggled with placing the needles in her and she was visibly in pain and blood was all over the poor dog's leg. An animal should never have to experience something like this and neither should the owners. She should have been put down peacefully and not struggled like she did. My Mother and I both decided to switch animal hospitals and both a doctor that spoke to my Mother and the receptionist that spoke to me could care less that we were leaving after 6+ years of being there. Last time I checked, that isn't how you run a business. I will never under any circumstances bring my animals back to Grayslake Animal Hospital and I will be sure to share this story with all animal owners. Read Less

I've been taking pets here for nearly 30 years. Love this place. In all that time, I've only come across one vet that my pets didn't click with. With that one exception, everyone, from the front desk people to the techs, have always treated my pets with kindness and gentleness. Dr. Harte is especially wonderful with my two little dogs. He's very patient and calm and always takes his time to talk to me and make sure I understand whatever it is he's explaining to me about their care. Read Less

Read Less

I've been taking my dogs here since I brought them home from the breeder 12 years ago. The veterinarians obviously love animals and love what they do. I don't bother asking for a particular vet because they're all great. The staff folks are also a pleasure to deal with - kind yet professional. When I call with a concern about one of my pups, they do their best to accommodate us. When one of my pups developed lymphoma, I couldn't have asked for a more compassionate setting. We never wait too long, and even when our furbabies are nervous, they take good care of them. The staff is very knowledgeable, and Dr. Hart is amazing (as are all of the vets). The front staff is always happy and helpful should we have questions, and I have felt we have always been treated with respect. We had to make an emergency appointment for one of my dogs, and they fit us in where they could, and when we got there, Dr. Hart was very empathetic to our little guys needs.

I have been bringing my dogs here since 2001. They have always been extremely helpful and I have always received great help from the Vets and staff. I've called late on a Sunday night due to my male contracting Lyme Disease and they took my call and phoned he local Walgreens for a prescription so that I could start him on the road to recovery ASAP. I recently had to put my dog down and they were absolutely wonderful and compassionate in dealing with what was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. They even sent a follow-up condolences card that was signed by the Vets and staff. Just an amazing group of people who love your pets as much as you do. I will always bring my pups here. Read Less

Read Less
