Please - BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!!! Do your research!!! On 3/7, I took my cat in for one emergency, and came out with Dr. 1 diagnosing her with a serious dx, and gave me a quick diet. I come in the next day for blood levels to be checked again for the original emergency and Dr. 2 comes in with good blood levels (thank God!) and then also tells me, "I'm so sorry, but your cat was misdiagnosed by Dr. 1...Dr. 1 was having a bad day yesterday, her kid was very sick and her mind was all not there. I shouldn't be telling you this, but..." And proceeded to give me a WHOLE OPPOSITE diet that my cat should be on! Said that diet Dr. 1 advised is for dogs! She said she would tell the Practice Manager to call us on this. Manager calls on 3/9 and doesn't say much but offers their cardiologist to check. I already feel VERY weary about this place, after seeing reviews, as well as feeling horrible for not having taken my personal vet's recommendation to take to Buffalo Grove Animal Hospital but, I take the appointment for the next day. I go in today and not only does this cardiologist (with bad reviews I see now) NOT come in to talk to me, it's Dr. 2 telling me, "Weeelll, this can happen sometimes...it's science." My husband was told, by Dr. 2, that we were "lucky" to have had their cardiologist see us today. Yes, that is the customer service received through this nightmare. The Practice Manager is called by me and I tell her everything, including the breach in HIPPA laws by Dr. 2 against Dr. 1, the conflicting diagnoses, conflicting diet advice, lack of trust, and major medical incompetence and negligence. She doesn't address these issues and I get certain fears of hers, but, I am here to tell the public, DO NOT BRING YOUR FUR BABIES HERE!!!! PLEASE!!! THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY, INCOMPETENT MEDICAL CROOKS!!! As 2 of my personal vet offices told me, they have a very high staff turnover!! Please, BEWARE. Read Less

I am fully aware that it was an emergency but it does not mean they can up charge for services . My boxer got x-rays ,bloodwork done and the answer I got from the vet was it could be an infection or cancer ,she was not sure , AFTER SPENDING 900 dollars I got a maybe half answer ,I'm sorry but for 900 dollars a maybe it's not an answer. After the test she wanted to keep him overnight she quoted me 1400 +meds 313 I am sorry but they just take advantage of the situation , this is very sad especially because they're are in control of the situation . I bought the meds for 320 but this not included the shot to relieve the pain , which was an additional 100 .long story short horrible experience , they take full advantage of the situation and do not care to upcharge , horrible vet office . I called first, and the receptionist was very helpful. When I arrived 30 minutes later, they reviewed my dogs symptoms and took him back to the doctor long before I was finished with the paperwork, which made me feel very good right away. After about 15 minutes Dr. Febvay came out and explained her findings, we agreed on treatment, and proceeded from there. Everyone there was kind, caring, and good listeners. What a relief to have a great place to get treatment for my dog during off hours. The drive from Lindenhurst was very fast at 4:30 am, I had a great experience! Read Less

I brought my 6 year old cat here a few weeks ago for a mouth injury that we weren't sure how it happened. We arrived, filled out paperwork and waited for 5 hours before we were in a room, without any time or wait recognition, nor did anyone come to check on my cat to see if she was okay... her tongue was out and she was breathing very heavy and frantic the entire time. She wasn't moving much before we brought her in either. When we finally got into a room, where we waited another 20 minutes to see a doctor, the doctor did a "exam", felt her body and jaw, then gave us a $1300 estimate to sedate my cat for x-rays for a jaw fracture... then she said if we did the x-rays they might not even show what (if anything) was wrong... The other estimate was for $500 worth of pain medication. She didn't diagnose my cat, didn't look thoroughly in her mouth and said my cat was "probably hiding her pain." I asked the Dr. for her professional and personal opinion of what to do, and she didn't answer, guide me or re-assure me of anything. She told me I was provided estimates and to decide. I was given dirty looks, and felt truly judged by the unprofessional and carelessness of the doctors and nurses. The doctor barely examined my cat and spent less than 5 minutes with us total. We were not a priority at all to the staff at Premier. After we denied the sedation, x-rays, and over prescribed pain medication, we paid and then was told to, yet again, wait to be discharged. At this point i have been there worried for going on 6-7 hours...we waited for another 30 minutes. After I asked to be emailed my discharged papers, as my cat has not been out of a carrier, eaten, drank or gotten to relax at all, a nurse came out and told us everything we already discussed in the appointment. Upon returning home, I was so upset with how we were treated and worried sick about my cat, I took it upon myself and looked inside my cat's mouth, and found that she had bit her tongue and was bleeding under her tongue...nothing was wrong with her jaw as she was eating wet food just fine... The Doctor never looked at her tongue or under, otherwise she would have seen this! I paid a pretty penny for someone to judge me and dismiss my animal after spending over 7 hours at the facility!!! She was seen by her primary vet the next day and treated. She's doing fantastic now! If it wasn't for me looking and examining closely, myself, who knows what could have happened. I am an animal lover and I knew it wouldn't be a fast process and I was also worried about the other pets! But, at least tell us a timeline or check on my animal! None of that nor did anyone care about me or my pet. It was truly the worst service experience I have had as a patient, let alone my pet. I will never recommend this place to anyone nor will I be returning. Read Less

The surgeon and all of the vets and nurses here truly saved my dog's life. Gus is a 12 lb Havanese who was attacked by two large dogs. The dogs severed his jugular vein, punctured one of his eyes, and left several more injuries. The doctors were waiting for us at the door and immediately got a compression on Gussy's jugular and got him into surgery. They provided Gus with around the clock care and never hesitates to take our phone calls and keep us filled in on Gus's condition and his progress. They treated my family and I with as much hospitality, compassion, and kindness as they possibly could have. It is because of this AMAZING team that my sweet boy is still alive today. I will certainly be recommending Premier to each and every person I know with pets. Although the specialty here is emergency, my family and I are considering the possibility of making Premier Gus' primary vet. They have been fantastic and the cost was 100% worth it. Prices are very reasonable considering the expertise of all of the doctors and the EXCEPTIONAL care with which they treat your pet. The receptionists are the most friendly people you could possibly meet. Premier Vets & nurses, you are our HEROES and we cannot thank you enough for what you have done. For you we are so grateful. While on vacation in the area, our dog Mickey developed BLOAT and his stomach twisted - a life threatening condition. We immediately took him to premier where he was triaged and initially treated even before I finished the initial paperwork. Within the next hour Mickey was in surgery with Dr Ryan to correct his condition. I was immediately contacted by Dr Ryan following the surgery to update me in Mickeys condition and that the prognosis was extremely good. Mickey spent the night at the hospital and we picked him up the next morning. We were able to speak to the surgical nurse when visiting with Mickey at pick up. She went over all the instructions and answered all of our questions. Our final paperwork included a copy of the LOG detailing all of mickeys care and observation during his entire stay. I can honestly say or beloved pet Mickey would be dead if not for the folks at Premier. Not only did they save his life, they performed an exemplary service all around. Heather is a Golden Retriever expert. Very compassionate and knowledgeable. It was a very hard day for us learning our best bud Montana had Canine cancer and weakened his bones in his shoulder til it finally gave way playing with his younger sister this past Sunday. To all the naysayers, this is an emergency clinic so understand that they are for emergencies and having access to a professional on a Sunday comes with a cost. Heather gave us many compassionate options, none were what we really wanted to hear unfortunately, but her expertise and mild manner made a very difficult day a little brighter. My dogs condition worsened significantly over the last month. His bad days outweighed the good days, and I had to make the difficult decision to put him to rest. My brother and sister in law utilized Premier Vet for the passing of their dog and were grateful for the care that they and their dog received and made a solid recommendation. I called ahead of time and spoke with Sandy, who is an angel. She informed me of my options and pricing associated with those options. She was such a comfort over the phone. We arrived at 9:30 pm and were treated with such compassion from the instant we walked in. We were briefly escorted to a private room and were allowed unlimited time with our dog (before and after the process). You could feel in your heart how much the staff cares about your pet. I witnessed staff hold back tears when speaking with me and they never hesitated to tell me how sorry they were. Forgive me for I was absolutely hysterical that night so I don't remember all names, but a sincere thank you to Sandy, our vet tech, and Dr. Naeser who performed the procedure with dignity and respect. The staff at Premier Vet made a painful experience less painful with their care and compassion towards my beloved pet. Thank you. Read Less

My dog injured his paw at 7pm on a weekday. He has brittle nails and this isn't the first time one had splintered. His normal vet was closed, so we called up Premier to check their prices and options. The tech on the phone was helpful and gave a few options on how we could remove the nail. She was very considerate and explained things well. After arriving, we filled out minimal paperwork and were seen pretty quickly. We weren't an emergency and the lobby had about 3 other people waiting, so all in all they moved fast. Doctor and nurse were both SUPER nice. Again, they went over options for the nail removal, pricing, and were very kind to my scared dog. Procedure was pretty fast. Doggo came back with a nice bandage and a plastic sock to keep it clean on the way home. Pricing was exactly as described and honestly on par with prices at our regular vet. I was braced the entire time for hidden "emergency" fees but it never happened. TL:DR very nice and kind staff, not a long wait, reasonable prices. 10/10 might just make this our regular vet. The staff was quick and attentive. My dog ripped one of his toenails right out and was bleeding a lot. We brought him in and we're given a room quickly. The nurse tech came in and took vitals. The doctor came in shortly after. My dog is blind with severe anxiety issues and we told the doctor he would probably need to be sedated in order to have his paw looked at. He explained how common this injury is and how simple the care is. We elected to allow him to try and clean the paw and wrap it without sedation. 5 minutes later, literally, my little hero came out with a wrapped paw and a cone of shame. Yes, it is expensive. We had an emergency with our 4 month old kitty last Sunday and this was the only place I found local that was open... I understand it's emergency, but a literal 4 hour wait was insane. We got there at 11:30, didn't get called back until after 3:30, finally left after 5pm. We thought his leg was broken, it was swollen and he was crying. We watched pet after pet go in front of us, some clearly understandable emergencies, some were pet owners finagling their way to the front by asking questions of vet techs who just took their pets to the back jumping the people (us) who had been waiting. I have to say we were constantly checked on by Bridget at the front desk, she offered us water and kept us posted saying they called in more staff and doctors. I listened to her work for hours and she was genuinely nice and friendly to everyone through out the entire day. She even came and brought us pizza that the staff had ordered saying she knew my daughter and I were there the longest and it was much appreciated. We probably won't be back there, $512 for an xray and pain meds is ridiculous. But every staff member including the doctor was patient and friendly, and really took the time to explain everything to us. Read Less

Right off the bat a misdiagnosis of Diabetes, along with not being thorough enough to find the primary causes or effected areas. Missed Vasculitis, cerebral edema. I was told by one doctor that she would have to stay until the end of day. I called back 4 hours later to check on her, and was told she was ready to leave. This was clearly negligent treatment, as when the cat arrived home it was a downward spiral. I was told she was able to stand in her litter box and was eating a good amount. BOTH fabricated lies. A board certified Neurologist confirmed that it was 95% unlikely she was doing those activities if Premier was not treating her for the amount of Ataxia. Which they were NOT. I will NEVER come back here again. I STRONGLY ADVISE YOU TO CONSIDER veterinary specialty center (buffalo grove). Thorough, caring and VERY intelligent doctors with numerous specialties. They saved my animals life with proper testing and diagnosis. Yes, Premier may be cheaper...without question! However, the lack of care does not make up for the price difference. From what I could see the clinic is a revolving door to make money. In & Out as fast as possible. What this company stands for, is an absolute terrible thing when it comes to lives. Read Less

We had a horrible experience with them last week.  We brought in a stray kitty that had been staying in our garage for the last few months.  We told them we had little information as he was badly bit by a dog or racoon and he had a high fever and his whole ear was swollen, bleeding and he had a huge lump from an infected boil which was very apparent.  He was in terrible shape.  We sat for two hours in their waiting room as they helped other pets that arrived after ours.  My husband is Hispanic and they asked us twice if we were together.  After being insulted and ignored and told that our cat did not have an emergency; although his entire ear was detached.  We left furious and disgusted at their horrific behavior.  I have told everyone in the area and our regular vet of this experience.  No one can imagine being refused treatment of our cat.  The next morning our desperate, already beloved cat had emergency surgery and our regular vet saved his life.   I hope everyone is as frustrated with our unthinkable experience as we were.    The staff was unapologetic, the vet ignored our tears and sorrow.  We have a great payment history with several vets in the area  so none of their actions made sense.  Do not go to this place with your pets.  We have also contacted the Better Business Bureau regarding this experience. We just moved to the area and our recently adopted dog got sick. I called the vet I had planned to use, but they couldn't get us in for a day, so I took my dog here. The staff was very friendly and we were seen very quickly. The vet was wonderful--he listened to all the symptoms, asked pertinent questions, and he ran the tests I thought were appropriate for the situation. It was a little tough to pay an extra $100 for the convenience of being seen right away (emergency fee), but I knew that before I arrived (I had called) and was happy to have a place to go where my dog could get treatment right away. They gave me a list of local vets they work with for follow up. I'm happy to have a 24-hour emergency clinic so close to our new home, and I wouldn't hesitate to go here again. Read Less

Will probably not go to this emergency vet again. I'd rather go to Companion Emergency in Crystal Lake. We went to this place about a year ago after our dog was attacked. They did see her quickly and were able to diagnose and treat her wounds. We waited a lot though after they took her back. I didn't find them to be very compassionate for our dog or us. We were both crying thinking our dog will die and they just stood still with a straight face and watched. I get they see this every day but each person trying to give emergency care to their pet will be sensitive and not used to those circumstances so they should show more sympathy. At least an I'm sorry I know this is hard. What upset us the most was they could not explain the severity of her wounds, specifically they refused to give a % probability on if she'd pull through. I understood but felt they could have given a best and worst case scenario. We saw our vet the next day and she was able to do so and gave an outlook for her too. Not sure why they couldn't do the same. Anyway, they did save our dog. Called here today after our dog was in pain and they were rude on the phone. Very quick to state they had an hour and a half wait. The exam fee is $109. They could not quote a cost for an X-ray. That's so ridiculous. This should not be a variable cost. She said "it depends on the vet". What does that mean? How does what vet sees the dog determine how much a single X-ray costs? I just don't care for how they run their business. They take advantage of the fact people have no choices in an emergency situation. Yes, they can treat your dog in an emergency. They won't treat you very good. Go to Companion in Crystal Lake if it's an option. Read Less

I had to put my dog down on 4/3/15 and it was a terrible experience. It had been a very bad day and a terrible situation and these vets only made it worse. It started out with them being condescending and rude and then be fake and acting like they cared when it was clear they were not. When it was time and I had come to terms the incompetent vet was unable to put a catheter in correctly and the medication was not administers correctly. My dog had to lay there and suffer for 20 mins freaking out when he should have been at peace. They were unprepared, poorly trained and made this terrible day even worse. I am heart broken my dog had to suffer his last few minutes of his life. I do not recommend this vet Read Less

The people here were so helpful and compassionate during what turned out to be my pets final hours. My dear cat Desert was having trouble breathing and when she fell over after walking into the room. I immediately took her to my normal vet who said to take her to the ER at Premier.  My pet was seen immediately.  Within 10 minutes I was presented with a preliminary diagnosis.  We decided to run some tests and it turned out she was in heart failure.  The prognosis was grim and she was old - 17 yrs.  There was no cure and 6 months of a questionable quality of life was the absolute best that could be hoped for.  The doctor was very kind and understanding as she helped me work through the options.  In the end the doctor and I decided the the kindest thing was to put her to sleep.  The brought Desert in wrapped in a soft blanket and gave me as much time as I needed to say goodby to my beloved pet.  The vet then put her peacefully to sleep.  I was then told to take my time to finish saying goodby and since we had settled the bill before Desert was brought in to just leave when I was ready.  There was no need to notify anyone.  They also gave me a folder with some wonderful material to help me with my pets passing.   I would like to say thankyou to everyone there that helped me through my difficult time. They are the friendliest and most caring veterinary clinic I have ever been to. Unfortunately, the only times I have had to visit them were under sad conditions. Both times they were so helpful, supportive and had so much compassion. The first time we were there was in January. They allowed us to be with our cat, Quincy, to say goodbye and let us stay with her during the process. They gave my husband and I some alone time and asked us if we needed more time before they asked for payment. They also gave us a clay disk with her paw prints and stamped her name above them, which is an option for everyone, but no other veterinarians I've been to offered anything remotely similar in that situation. If you opt to have your beloved pet cremated it comes in a nice package and they're just as friendly when you pick it up at 8:00 at night. The second time, which was tonight, they helped us with a feral kitten that we found at the end of our driveway. We were calling everywhere to get help, but sadly most places won't help feral animals that can't be domesticated. I cannot thank them enough for what they did. I will gladly recommend them to anyone and when I'm ready for another pet they will be my only choice for animal care. Read Less

Read Less

After the test she wanted to keep him overnight she quoted me 1400 +meds 313 I am sorry but they just take advantage of the situation , this is very sad especially because they're are in control of the situation .

I ended up there last night with my dog, who was very ill. My dog was taken in right away. After speaking with the vet, we were given an estmate for his needed overnight stay. We had to revise it twice, taking out things that we thougt could be done only if needed during the night. There was never any pressure to do anything and i feel my dog received excellent care. Even when i called that night someone went and checked on him for me. I would recommend Premier to anyone with a pet emergency. Read Less

Read Less

I am very thankful for the care and kindness we received from Premier over the weekend.  They are open 24 hours 365 days a year.  Our pets, like humans, can get really sick on a Sunday and need care then.  Glad they are there.  It does cost more than your regular vet but I understand.  They have to pay doctors and staff to work overnights and weekends which costs more. All of the staff was kind and professional.  They called when they said they would.  It was very hard for me to leave my cat there but I knew she was in good hands.  Literally, Premier being open on Sunday saved her life.  Thank you!!!!!!

Read Less
