Veterinary services from VCA Cairo Animal Hospital in Highland Park adjust to individual household stress levels caregiving patterns and multi-pet routines while catering to pet families throughout Illinois. During initial visits staff members analyze pacing patterns alongside vocal expressions and physical stance combined with eye movements to determine their interaction method. Physical evaluations involve checking hydration level coat condition oral status core strength limb motion and balance control. Owner observations are captured through structured conversation: recent social behavior appetite variance noise sensitivity or sleep disruption are key variables. VCA Cairo Animal Hospital delivers an extensive range of medical services that includes diagnostic testing, preventive screenings, dental care, minor surgical procedures, postoperative support and chronic condition monitoring. The number of household pets along with caregiver availability and the need for post-visit emotional processing determine staging adjustments. Families manage at-home follow-ups with reduced confusion through detailed instructions and visual diagrams. Schedules are fluid. Pet owners should modify their plans whenever necessary based on the animal's adjustment progress. The implementation of optional check-ins combined with asynchronous updates manages to keep care progress intact while minimizing needless stress. The support system integrates printed summaries with communication tiering and pain behavior maps to determine subsequent actions. I've been taking my cat Sphinx here for about a year and a half. The entire staff, the vet techs and the different vets that work here are all amazing, so friendly and great with my cat. He can be a bit wild and skittish and every time he comes in, they make him feel at ease. They are super transparent about cost, really helping you understand before treatment begins what to expect- and cut my cat's nails for free. Plus, there's no shortage of education, all your questions and tips/tricks about preventative care are answered. We walked out all smiles, a bag of teeth cleaning treats in tow, with a healthy cat updated on his shots. Can't wait to come back! Read Less

I have a serious love-hate relationship with this vet practice. All the vets have been great for the most part with the exception of a horrific putting to sleep of my last dog (would have been more humane if I took her in the woods and shot her). However, the staff and their policies seem designed to maximize inconvenience and frustration and increase cost. There seems to be a culture of "let's make everything seem like the biggest possible deal" so we can maximize the time it takes and the money they can charge. I would actually have no problem with the money but the arrogance and condescension of the staff is intolerable. I'm off to a new vet. Read Less

My two pitbulls were seen by Dr. Colleen Mullen and she is so attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about her work. Best veterinary experience I have ever had. I was extremely satisfied with my visit and plan to bring all my pets here for a very long long time. I highly recommend bringing your furbabies here! Read Less

Dr. Mullen is the best vet! Very calm when handling any high maintenance dog or cat. And is very honest about treatment options.
