Our first visit was with a marvelous doctor, the Senior Dr. Ihrke, D.V.M. all those years ago! We loved him very much!! Now, we have the benefit and knowledge of his son, Dr. David (Dave) Ihrke, D.V.M., also an extraordinary doctor! They have given us great news, and not so great news at different times, but they always handled telling us with "such grace" at a time when you feel so fragile, and sad. Dr Ihrke diagnosis my dog with allergies after running $300 in tests. The medication prescribed didnt works so I brought her back in. Dr Aenllo ran x-rays and blood work diagnosed my dog with pneumonia and that day cost me $650. Dog still wasn't better, if fact worse. Took my dog to her vet from 3 years ago about an hour away (Dr. Martin of Midlothian Animal Clinic WONDERFUL) and after looking at the x-ray for one minute said it was a clear mass in her chest and the previous vet should have seen it easily without blood work. Dr Martin said it was in the best interest of the dog to be put down. It was a quality of life issue because he too knew I would pay anything I needed to make her better. She was a 12 year old pitbull so we did the right thing for our friend. When Dr. Aenllo call me back after 8 hours of not returning my phone message for a dog struggling for air she wanted to see the dog, run more test and treatments suggesting she still wanted to rule out the fact that the dog wasn't poisoned before she was ready to accept the cancer and then still she was going to do surgery because she call it "survivable"...in a 12 year old dog who average life expectancy is 11-13 years...I informed her a real vet had diagnosed her finally and she should stop trying to make money on my dying dog. The dog suffered five days longer than she needed to, drowning do to the large tumor taking over her lung capacity, put through multiple unneeded test all because of their, either incompetence or financial gain, taking advantage of my emotional family that would pay anything to fix their dog. Will definitely be taking this to small claims court if refund isn't given. Credit card has been notified to dispute charges. How dare they.Read Less

Twenty years ago I took my first dog to Colonial Manor to be treated for epilepsy. I can't begin to explain the research that Dr. Dave and Dr. Joe did to ensure that she had treatment tailored to her specific condition. This was also the case several years later when she was diagnosed with hemolytic anemia. I had no choice one night to rush her to a 24 hour emergency because she was crashing. There, they told me there was nothing that could be done. Thank goodness Dr. Dave from Colonial Manor could see her the next morning. He tried other alternatives and truly researched what could be done for her - even though we knew the chances of recovery were slim. I was lucky to have her around for five more years after that. Even if the treatments had not been successful, I would have been comforted knowing that all that could have been done for her was attempted. Read Less
