I was looking for a new vet because my last vet seemed to care more about fees than my dog! I was referred to AMC of Itasca and I'm so glad I went. My dog doesn't mind getting his shots but is usually ready to go home when they're done. The staff was so friendly, he kept trying to go back in the room as we were leaving. He kept crying because he wanted to be by the staff and didn't want to leave. Their rates are very fair and the staff is awesome! Read Less

Great service at a high price: The staff has always been nice and courteous when ever I have taken my cat. I'm often the mom toting the kids and the cat to the check up. The staff has always been so helpful and patient. They are readily available to answer when I call and have a question. My only complaint is after my husband (who works in a hospital) saw what we were charged for a routine blood panel, stated that it was more expensive for our cat than what is charged for his patients. We have been taking my dog to this vet for 17 years, they do a great job helping us keep her healthy. We have had appointments with many of the doctors there and have at minimum liked every one of them. I work in the veterinary field out in Minnesota now, but my parents still take our 17 year old dog there. The care they provide is exceptional. Read Less

Dr. Deeke is a wonderful vet, he's caring and considerate. My dog is a rotte and every vet I went to wouldn't even touch her, he called her by her name and pet her. She doesn't have long to live but he gave her antibiotics and pain meds, constantly saying to hope for the best. Hugged me and Bella. A doctor with a heart .Reasonable prices, I wish I would have gone to him before I went to numerous specialist and spent so much money that I'm still paying on my credit card . Dr. Deeke took amazing care of my puppy. We brought him in a few days ago for a skin infection. This was our first visit. Dr. Deeke first scanned his chip to get a medical history on him, which has never been done for us at any other vet. He also did a full physical checkup on Luther before addressing his infection. I've been to so many other vets that won't so much as take their temperature during the visit. The doctor was so sweet to Luther and didn't pressure us into anything we didn't need for the sake of spending money. Actually, the visit was about half the amount I expected. Multiple other vets have charged us double if not more for WAY fewer services rendered, and I felt it was more about the money than it was about the animals. Luther is recovering very quickly and I feel extremely confident in this clinic and will continue to come here. Read Less

Promptly got an appointment and handled what could have been an emergency with professionalism and speed. Staff kept me informed of what to expect and what the outcome might be. 19 hours later, my doggie came home on the way to recovery. My foster puppy loves coming here. I had a litter of 5 puppies plus their mother from a shelter. They took care of them since the puppies were 6 weeks old. Everyone has been great with them. Even though we only go in for vaccines, my last 4 month old foster goes bouncing in there. They give her a little soft food while she gets her shots. I don't think she even notices the pinch. They're very thorough on her exam. They ask if I have any concerns and make sure everything is going well. I've never seen a dog so happy to go into a vet office. She literally cries when they leave the room and sits at the door to the back because she enjoys them so much. Any of course it's also amazing that they donate so much money and time to rescue. Animal Medical Center of Itasca has an excellent staff of veterinarians, front desk crew and vet technicians in the back room. They are extremely knowledgeable and ready to help with the simplest tasks and problems to more complex medical emergencies. They are all focused on giving your pets and you the best possible medical and customer service. The facility is clean, organized and well run. Over many years and many animals Animal Medical Center of Itasca had always given their best for our well-loved, actually family members, pets! Great job everyone! We have taken our family dogs here since 2000. The staff are amazing and considerate, scheduling has never been an issue, and the vets are incredibly knowledgeable and empathetic. I have been able to recommend their services to family and friends, who have also continued to bring their pets here. Our adopted pup has some trust issues and everyone has been so great working with him and making it a less scary experience. They are also extremely accomodating in emergency situations. Rudy my Service Dog from Americas VetDogs Veterans K-9 Corps. Has been a Patient of Dr. Jeff Deeke for over 6 years He has received the best care possible over the years. 2 surgeries for Cancer & 1 for a Torn cruciate. Rudy has been boarded there a few times for recovery & the staff is Awesome! I highly recommend his Animal Medical center to anyone who truly loves their animal. If we lived in Itasca, this would be our permanent vet! We were driving across country and our Bichon got very ill and needed to be hospitalized. The front desk staff were great and made me feel very comfortable and talked us through our issue until we finally made it there that evening. I was a nervous wreck, as Louis is my baby. Dr. David Deeke was so great with explaining everything that was going on and the treatment that was needed. The vet himself would call 3 times a day to update on Louis' condition and that is so comforting when you're as worried as my husband and I were. He stayed for a few days and they took such great care of him. He was as good as new when we picked him up to continue our journey. They did not charge us an arm and a leg, and I know that's important to others as well. I would recommend this clinic to anyone and everyone in the area!Read Less

I recently moved from Chicago to Bloomingdale and among countless places that I have to now replace with a more local option is my veterinary office. I was referred to AMC of Itasca by a member of my husband's family who takes their dog here. My cat Poppy started shaking and having weak back legs, tipping over, vomiting quite a bit (more than normal). I brought him in and Dr. Kyle Kasyn (spelling?) was very thorough and knowledgeable and after not really finding much to go on... he was pretty sure what was wrong even though I didn't want to pay for a pricey CT scan for my 15 year old kitty. Poppy continued to decline and Dr. Kyle was patient with my during a few phone calls to ask him his opinion and eventually he was honest and told me to bring him in when I was ready to say goodbye. Today I did just that after many weeks of waffling and Dr. Kyle wasn't there but another doctor handled it. It was very quick and easy, much smoother than my Chicago bet has been in the past in this situation with our other furry kids. It is still incredibly difficult but I couldn't have asked for a better experience even in the face of such a miserable situation. My only negative comment (which wasn't an issue today) is the front desk staff is not the most friendly. They were very quiet with me today as I paid before even going in the room to do the deed, so I don't have any complaints today. See More Read Less

My old cat is having a few issues so I decided to take him in and have him checked out. I was referred by my husband's aunt who takes her dog here because I'm new to the area. She suggested Dr. Deeke Sr. but he wasn't available so an appointment was set with Dr. Kayson. The appointment was great. I was immediately given a room so my poor cat didn't have to stay in the waiting room with the dogs that we're going crazy over him. Dr. Kayson read the chart before we even got there and was so kind and gentle with my boy. We decided on a blood panel to see if we can figure out what's going on and that was the quickest blood draw I've ever had. I'm sure my cat was happy with that. I'd give the clinic 5 stars except the reception staff was incredibly rude when I called to make the appointment. I almost didn't even take the slot but decided my cat needed to get in so I'd give it a shot. The woman on the phone was very short with me and didn't seem to care that I was upset that my cat was very ill. She also was audibly disappointed in me for not being 100% sure my cat was up to date on shots, which he is. I had to get my records transferred from my old vet and when I told her that she sighed and told me the fax number but it could only be sent right at noon because the credit card machine is connected to the fax number. I offered to email but for some reason that wasn't an option.When I was at the vet, the woman who checked me in was fine, but when I checked out I ended up with the same girl who booked me the appointment (I recognized her voice and demeanor as she answered a phone call mid transaction and was equally cold and rude to the person on the line as she was with me). She asked me if I had any medicine to take home, which I didn't, told me it would be $202, picked up the phone and swiped my card, handed it back to me to sign and gave me the receipt all without so much as eye contact or a thank you. Dr. Deeke is a nice vet and it is a shame that the receptionists who work at Animal Medical Center of Itasca are so rude. I have brought my dog to this vet numerous times and had all her original vaccinations done here. I then moved downtown and saw a vet downtown, when my dog needed her titers done. I am temporarily back in the suburbs and my 1.5 year old dog suddenly went limp and could not walk. My dog has not been there in about 9 months, but I figured they would still help, so I called Animal Medical Center of Itasca almost three hours before they were closing on a Friday and explained what had happened. I asked if they could see my dog and said I would be happy to see any of the vets at the practice. The receptionist was extremely rude and told me that they could not see me because they are busy on Friday and trying to close. I asked if they could see my dog on Saturday and I got the same response, that they are busy on the weekend and can only fit in regular patients for a last minute appointment on the weekend. The receptionist then refused to even let me speak to a vet because she claimed they were all busy, so I asked if one would call me back and it was no surprise that I never got called back. I initially loved this practice and thought the vet himself was very nice. It really upset me when they could not get my dog's name right, even after I wrote it down and corrected them 4 times when I first started using them. Had the receptionists been pleasant and kind from the beginning I would have continued using them while living in the city. Now, they still have my dog's name wrong and refused to even attempt to fit me in so I drove to the city in the height of traffic on a Friday evening to see a vet in the city who even stayed late to accommodate my dog.  I will never use this vet again and will make sure to spread the word to all family and friend's in the area who own animals to not count on this vet's office to fit you in in the event of an emergency. I highly recommend finding a different vet's office to use unless the receptionists are replaced. Read Less

Dr J. Deeke literally saved my dog's life. My dog Lola was in serious need of some major surgery and had complicated problems that kept getting worse. My finances weren't getting any better but I knew that I had to act quickly to get my dog treated before it was too late. Thankfully, these people care more about your pet than they care about the money. The vet worked with me and did the things that needed to be done to save my dog. Lola had to have a very deep, abscessed tumor removed from her back. In addition, she needed her teeth cleaned and had to have a few pulled. The surgery had a few complications, which Dr. Deeke was able to improvise upon to render my dog healthy again. He even called me during the surgery to consult with me on options as they were being addressed. He ended up keeping Lola overnight for observation to ensure that the stitches would hold (another complication). When I picked up Lola the following day she was in high spirits and acted like nothing had even happened to her! She's healed up so well and even at 8 years old she's been acting like a puppy again! I just can't believe the difference in her health. This veterinarian did everything necessary, and nothing extraneous. I can't express the amount of care that I witnessed throughout this experience. The follow-up visits, the phone calls, and constant check-ins demonstrated the amount of concern invested in my pet. All of that without completely draining me financially! Additionally, Animal Medical Center of Itasca also boards your pets. My parents used to take our Doberman, Louie, here for boarding. He was a large, excitable dog that wasn't easy to handle. He frequently came home from the boarding happy, with a well maintained appearance. This is the best possible place to board your pet because  they're in the most friendly, capable hands. Read Less

This veterinary office, gets 5 stars from me. I've taken all of my animals here since 2001. The staff is wonderful, and so are the doctors. Very friendly, and very caring about my animals. I live further now, than I did before, but anytime my dogs need to see a Dr, I will make the drive. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else! Read Less

Is it unusual for my dog to want to go to the vet?For the past 8 years I have been bringing my dog and my cat to Animal Medical Center. From the first time my dog met Dr. Deeke to his most recent visit with Dr. Deeke's son, he still loves this place and gets excited we are going (even after being fixed). What brought on my review was that last week I had to make the horribly sad decision to let my 20 year old cat make his way to the Rainbow Bridge. The decision is one that brings on extreme guilt, contemplation, sorrow and eventually acceptance. I cannot even begin to explain how wonderful the staff was from my first conversation over the phone to the sad end. The vet who helped me say goodbye was Dr. Krayson and his incredibly warm nature, sincere empathy and kind energy made the final moments so very peaceful. I will remember his kindness for a long time to come.If you want a veterinary office that truly cares about you and your pets I cannot say enough kind things about Itasca Medical Center. Read Less

If you live in the suburbs, there is no other place to bring you pets!   Dr. Deeke is worth the trip even if you have to travel from the city!  My family has been bringing their pets  here for a few years since their last veterinarian retired.
