First and foremost, I think that the Doctor's here are caring and knowledgable. That being said, our dog has been coming here for 14 years. In the last 2 years, the level of corporate greed vs animal care has exploded. It is impossible to get an actual appointment with the doctor unless you schedule months out. For emergencies, they are unequipped to handle them and send you elsewhere. For any other appointments (ear infections, illness, etc) they insist you drop them off to be caged for several hours until the vet can see them. To me, this is terrible. Their mission is to take on as many "Wellness Plans" as they can without a care for the animal's welfare. So today, my dog needed an appointment to have his legs examined (he is old and has hip issues), and we were told to drop him off. My wife explained that she did not want to do this and was told the next appointment would be at least a month out. We threatened to cancel our wellness plan (for which we pay $38/monthly for access to discounted procedures and medication) and she found an appointment 7 days out. My wife called another vet and was able to get an appointment sooner and then called to cancel our Wellness Plan at Banfield. She was told that we would need to make another monthly payment to cover any recent services. So, over the last 13 years we have paid Banfield roughly $6400 in monthly fees, plus all of the discounted costs of procedures and medications. Apparently, they had to steal another 38 bucks from us even though our most recent payment was on May 29th. If you care about your animal, and would like personal attention, I recommend avoiding Banfield. I am truly disappointed and angry about how terrible they have become. Read Less

This was my first time going here since we moved to Illinois and i was not happy because 1 no one was on time and the waiting area was so small and they didn't even open the door for a drop off we had to go through the store and normally drop off 7 am you use the banfield door because pet smart is closed still until later in the day. Im looking for different locations because this was reccomend to me by my aunt. Also i want to mention that when my aunt was upset about putting one of our dogs down because she was very sick. I had to make a appointment with banfield to do so. Thats not right. I call another hospital to ask to bring her there and i told her give me 30 minutes and i will be there and she got me a spare room and blankets on the ground for her. All i had to do was call 5 minutes before i got there. Keep in mind i have 3 dogs and 3 wellness plans i pay my money worth to be treated like this. Maybe i should take my babies somewhere else. Banfield has for the most part been very good to my pet for last 6 yrs. But charged my credit for things I did not agree to. Even after calling Corporate, there was no middle ground between us. I'm very disappointed after 6yrs. Of good care for my dog, I now must start with a new Veterinarian! Corporate is very cold & uncaring . They will still Bill you for your pets monthly plan even if you cut off credit payment. Please call them & cancel or your getting billed every month! My mistake...lesson learned! They would not even give me a new plan for my dog. So, Be aware folks, the best interest of your Dog is not always what matters. Another incident I had with them....I was out of state visiting family...my Daughter was watching my home....My Dog ran after a ball in street & got nipped by a car. My Daughter immediately called me, said what happened...i called Banfield from out of state...said I needed urgent care for my dog( Who was covered under plan)...they said the Dr. could not see my Dog because he was watching another dog that had surgery. They said I'd have to take him to another neighboring Vet!!! 😡 Done with Banfield Now I start over again! Too Costly Also... Read Less

I've been bringing my dog to different Banfield locations since I got her as a puppy almost 9 years ago. This is our current hospital we take her to and like others have mentioned, the doctors are great but the front desk staff is horrible. They don't even acknowledge you when you walk in the door. On different occasions I'd walk in, stand by the front counter while the employee working was assisting someone else and the employee wouldn't even look in my direction. I mean, the least they could do was look at me and say it would be just a moment before they could help me. Our last visit my husband dropped off our dog and he complained about the same thing. He said the simple drop off appointment took him 30 minutes because the girl at the desk was helping someone, ignoring my husband and complaining about the phones and computers not working right. Thank goodness the doctors are so helpful here, but the front desk staff is seriously hurting their reputation. Read Less

I had my mini-doxie at Petsmart day camp on April 2nd when they called me to let me know that he was not walking on one of his hind legs. Told them to take him over to Banfield to have him looked at. This was at noon. At 2 pm a vet called me to let us know that now he had paralysis of both hind legs and he needed to see a Neurologist. She said the nearest was in Madison,  WI or Champaign,  IL.  However I know there is one at VCA Aurora. She however wasn't aware of such. When we got to Banfield 20-30minutes later they just pretty much brought our puppy out and said "here you go!" I would have thought the vet might come to talk to us about her findings but no! This is not our regular vet nor will it ever be in the future. They even did an exam which I didn't think was necessary but I had to pay for nonetheless. Read Less

Let me preface this by saying that we are INSANELY picky about the care our pets receive. When we moved from the south suburbs to the west ones, we dreaded finding a new vet for our three cats and two dogs. One day, after a bit of shopping in Petsmart, we decided to swing through Banfield's and check out the office, talk to the staff, etc. The following day we returned with our beagle during the free "walk in" hours (no office visit fee!). WOW! We have never received such thorough care at a vet's office EVER. There was a small wait, but the vet tech was wildly informed and offered us all sorts of information regarding the care of our dog. We had to fill out a SUPER extensive questionnaire regarding our pet's health and history in addition to supplying the office with all our old records. I really felt like they were interested in actually knowing our dog instead of just collecting the $. The vax were reasonably priced (must cheaper than several local competitors) and they called the following day to check in on how she was--just after a basic visit with a few shots. We later brought all three cats in and again, they were wonderful. The vet herself is super nice and very patient (I should've mentioned this earlier). One of our cats is pretty much demonic at the vet and they didn't bat an eye at her extraordinarily combative nature. Again, they gave a follow up call the next day, etc. You can tell who's out for money and who legitimately cares for animals--Banfield's is definitely in the second category. Read Less
