My family (brother, mom, and I) have all went to Essington Rd. with our animals for year, Dr. Youseef Sr. was amazing! Always listened to concerns, explained options, and suggested treatments--my dog Samson has had numerous allergic reactions over his almost10 years of life. Mostly prevalent in August, but also would occur if I changed his food, laundry detergent, and happened directly after receiving vaccinations. As he got older, the reactions got worse--eventually he would completely lick his paws raw. Dr. Youseef Sr. (and the emergency care center staff in Plainfield where I went when I could not get to Dr. Y due to their hours) and I tried a variety of things--from washes, to booties, to shots, to skin samples, to medications...the list goes on. Finally after 8 years of shots, we discussed holding off on those until the winter months and possibly giving them at separate times to see if his body still would react. My dog ended up involved in an incident where they requested his shot records and since he was not up to date on shots, Will County Animal Control wanted him to be quarantined at a vet's office for 10 days. My 10 year old dog shelter dog--who had never been in a cage--who also had never been boarded or anything of that nature due to temperament, and luckily my family who always helped watch him while we are gone. He basically bites through his leash during the 1 hour visit to the vet due to his anxiety. I went to see Dr. Youseef (the son who took over) who basically told me there was nothing he could--in a very condescending way. He did not agree the shots had any affect on Samson's condition--He did not think it would be a problem to leave him there in a cage for 10 days---he did nothing to help me. I asked if we could try and see how Samson would react to being put in a kennel in the back area of his office before I left him there...His response, "He'll be fine, bring him in, but he'll need to stay". He'll be fine huh? The dog that I tried to have groomed twice when he was younger, but got a phone call within 30 minutes to come and pick him up because he was thrashing in the cage and destroying things? He also mentioned losing his license if he suggested alternative measures of complying. I'm not a doctor, but am a very educated person and this made no sense. I went to get a second opinion from another vet in the area --- After seeing his records from both offices (28 visits in total allergy related issues) he agreed the shots could bother him...after seeing my dog bite through his leash in the 10 minutes we sat in his office, he immediately agreed boarding my dog and him possibly hurting himself was not an option. Also was not a situation he was willing to put himself in, because if something did happen he would be liable. Maybe Dr. Youseef was more concerned about the money he would receive from boarding my dog? We were able to work out a plan that did not require my dog to be quarantined and Samson is now in the process of hopefully being excused from receiving another vaccination. Why wasn't Dr. Youseef willing to do this for someone who was a patient at his office for almost 10 years, yet a BRAND new vet was willing to help me!!! If you are looking for a new vet, I would honestly consider finding someone else as my family has done. Read Less
