Over the last few months we have gone through the entire gambit of emotions with our pup. We noticed some limpy-ness and decided to take her in for her yearly visit a little early. Thank goodness we did.
It was a normal office visit with incredibly friendly staff, we were taken in back, pup was given her shots and treats. We talked about some other goodies and opted for the blood test. Pretty normal over all, till that phone call, you know the one you never want…our pup had Lyme.
Well I went through every emotion and the tech and doctor, heck their entire staff calmed me and answered every inane and insane question I had. We set a treatment course and she is pretty close to perfect with just has some stiffness which for a large 7 year old dog is pretty normal anyway.
I’m not sure if I can really express how caring, informative and easy to work with the entire staff of AHLV is but I hope that it comes across here.
It was an incredibly scary thing for us to experience and I honestly could not imagine what it would have been like to go through it without them. I was always informed, they continuously provided me comfort and course for what we were going to do or recommended. We were always aware of what to expect or what to keep an eye out for.
I have not had that experience with human doctors, so to experience it with my pets doctors/staff and not have to beg for information. Irreplaceable.
Thank you everyone at AHLV for helping US through an incredibly scary thing with grace and patience…and love for my pup.

Over the last few months we have gone through the entire gambit of emotions with our pup. We noticed some limpy-ness and decided to take her in for her yearly visit a little early. Thank goodness we did.

My feline companion of 18 years was very ill and unfortunately had to be put down. Since new to the area I searched the internet for the highest rated animal hospital in the area. The Animal Hospital of Lake Villa with its 5 star rating is where I would be going.
The Doctor and his staff handled this most difficult of life's tasks with not only concern for my cat, Pi, but for me as well. I highly recommend these caring compassionate Doctors and their staff.

Very good hospital. My pets are treated well. When they put my pets up and down, I did notice that, unlike other animal hospitals, they did this in a very gentle way and make sure my corgis long back are protected. This is very professional. And they have really good chicken treats that my corgis just love them. The doctor is so good at calming them down during examination. I am glad I switched my pets hospital to Lake Villa.

All I can say is WOW!!! We recently began going to Animal Hospital of Lake Villa. We have a 7 year old schnauzer and a 5 month old poodle mix, which have recently both had unrelated procedures at the clinic. I have been pleasantly surprised at the level of care, passion and love that the doctors as well as ALL the staff members have for their patients. My dogs are our kids and in both surgical procedures I was nervous but felt so much better when I started receiving texts and pictures throughout the day giving me status verbal and visual updates. This put me at ease and I knew they were in GREAT Hands. I will never go anywhere else. I am so happy I found them! Do not hesitate to bring your pet here.

Honestly we feel they let us down today. We called this morning for our Rottie Stella who has no hips (Dual FHO) she was in pain all night and whimpered. We spoke to Carl who said he would call us back to get her taken care of. By 3 we heard nothing so we called them and they seemed to be 100% unaware we even called! So now we are told " Sorry, booked today and tommorow" Really!! Would you have been booked earlier when we called?? So now the choice to us was "Drop her off tommorow and we'll get to her when we can" she's not a car for God's sake!
Last time they saw our dogs we gladly spent around 1600 no problem. Didn't complain nothing.
We were told to go somewhere else!
How bout this people, stay late if you love your job and charge me for it! Ill gladly pay.
Too bad, they seemed nice.

We've been to numerous vets before we were referred here. Unfortunately owning a pet is expensive but this animal hospital does their best to have deals on shots and dental cleanings and they also have a lot of good content on their App. They help out the community and always have something fun going on where you can bring your pet. I know my dog loves going here because he gets attention from all the sweet ladies! They are polite, courteous, and knowledgeable. They are upbeat and always sweet to my dog which makes me feel good and that he will be taken care of properly. Other places we have been to are very unpersonable and it is just another job for them. Here it is the total opposite. I will continue to come here and refer them to my friends!

I came back from a vacation. When I arrived I was told that I did not have to come as new desk clerk was new and had made a mistake. I was 20 minutes early. Well this my 2nd visit. I asked if I could. See Dr McGenis to ask a question. I wait quita long time 20 minutes. I took my pom who is small. into a room. I asked one question. Is my pom to small to breed. I left and when I returned home I received a phone call saying I owed $50.00. What for one question? The Dr never touced my dog.......I could have left as I was told my dog did not need a shot the shot. I said I was not paying the money. I asked to talk to the Dr but was not allowed to. I called again AND and again. I only got a very rude receptionist and was told I could not talk to the dr or he would not return my phone. A few days later I received a letter asking me not to return as dr and patient should have a good relationship. WHAT. Oh the rude receptionist name Marilyn..I came home from vacation when, I could have stayed longer for an appointment that I did not need . Than waited to ask a question. Oh! Dr McGenis signed the letter..He neverr know what happen because Marilyn never gave him the message. I have neverbeen treated so poorly. I sure glad that I only asked one questin lol

My visit was horrible in 2015... Over $200 for a few shots??? And they gassed my poor cat instead of letting me hold her while they poked her with the needle.... Not to mention they brought her back ...

Not to mention they brought her back from the gas chamber (or as the "nurse" called it "The HappyBox") unconscious with her tounge hanging out. Then charged me for them gassing her. Outrageous... I will not recommend this place at all.... Way over priced and treat your animal like crap. Smells very bad in here also.

Dr. Ed is the greatest and so is all his stafF. I've been bringing Schnitzel, my wire haired dachshund, out there since his first puppy exam in January 2005 and couldn't imagine going elsewhere. When I got my rescue dachsie he was scared of everything, but the kindness shown by all won him over. He barks at everybody, but willingly comes in the door as if it was home. 5 stars not nearly high enough rating!

I have been through many veterinarians, while moving all over the world due to my husbands military career, I only recently found this one. This office, the employees, and Dr. McGinnis are by far the best caretakers of my pets I have ever experienced! Not only do they have genuine concern for my fur babies, they are also extremely patient and willing to work with our specific requests. They are never pushy and always explain everything they need to do clearly and patiently. Anyone should feel lucky to have their furry family members treated at this office! We have been taking our 2 dogs to Lake Villa Animal Hospital for 2 years. The staff are friendly and my dogs love the attention that they get.They are great at doing everything possible to keep your appointment as stress free as possible.I know that when our dogs aren't feeling well that they are getting the best care and in the best place possible!

We've been to numerous vets before we were referred here. Unfortunately owning a pet is expensive but this animal hospital does their best to have deals on shots and dental cleanings and they also have a lot of good content on their App. They help out the community and always have something fun going on where you can bring your pet. I know my dog loves going here because he gets attention from all the sweet ladies! They are polite, courteous, and knowledgeable. They are upbeat and always sweet to my dog which makes me feel good and that he will be taken care of properly. Other places we have been to are very unpersonable and it is just another job for them. Here it is the total opposite. I will continue to come here and refer them to my friends!

I came back from a vacation. When I arrived I was told that I did not have to come as new desk clerk was new and had made a mistake. I was 20 minutes early. Well this my 2nd visit. I asked if I could. See Dr McGenis to ask a question. I wait quita long time 20 minutes. I took my pom who is small. into a room. I asked one question. Is my pom to small to breed. I left and when I returned home I received a phone call saying I owed $50.00. What for one question? The Dr never touced my dog.......I could have left as I was told my dog did not need a shot the shot. I said I was not paying the money. I asked to talk to the Dr but was not allowed to. I called again AND and again. I only got a very rude receptionist and was told I could not talk to the dr or he would not return my phone. A few days later I received a letter asking me not to return as dr and patient should have a good relationship. WHAT. Oh the rude receptionist name Marilyn..I came home from vacation when, I could have stayed longer for an appointment that I did not need . Than waited to ask a question. Oh! Dr McGenis signed the letter..He neverr know what happen because Marilyn never gave him the message. I have neverbeen treated so poorly. I sure glad that I only asked one questin lol

I mistaked this facility for another on my recent review. While they haven't had a pet of mine under their care (yet) the way they handled the mixup was very professional and kind.

My visit was horrible in 2015... Over $200 for a few shots??? And they gassed my poor cat instead of letting me hold her while they poked her with the needle.... Not to mention they brought her back ...

Not to mention they brought her back from the gas chamber (or as the "nurse" called it "The HappyBox") unconscious with her tounge hanging out. Then charged me for them gassing her. Outrageous... I will not recommend this place at all.... Way over priced and treat your animal like crap. Smells very bad in here also.

Dr. Ed is the greatest and so is all his stafF. I've been bringing Schnitzel, my wire haired dachshund, out there since his first puppy exam in January 2005 and couldn't imagine going elsewhere. When I got my rescue dachsie he was scared of everything, but the kindness shown by all won him over. He barks at everybody, but willingly comes in the door as if it was home. 5 stars not nearly high enough rating!

I have been through many veterinarians, while moving all over the world due to my husbands military career, I only recently found this one. This office, the employees, and Dr. McGinnis are by far the best caretakers of my pets I have ever experienced! Not only do they have genuine concern for my fur babies, they are also extremely patient and willing to work with our specific requests. They are never pushy and always explain everything they need to do clearly and patiently. Anyone should feel lucky to have their furry family members treated at this office! Thank you Animal Hospital of Lake Villa! You guys are seriously the best!

I couldnt be happier with their service and the front desk staff is also a pleasure to deal with! I will continue going for a long long time! I would recommend to anyone that wants quality care!
